  1. Nice lookin gold IS parked on Parkhouse Ind Estate in Stoke On Trent....number plate resembled Toady....
  2. Had already booked mine in for service next Weds.....What more can you want......Friendly helpful service, decent prices and last time I went there for some repair work they dropped me off at work and collected me when done. Compare that with my previous experience at another Lexus dealer not so far away in a town beginning with "W" and a football team thats quite gold and black.... I had RAC recover my car there, handed over my key - told we'll ring you when done - no hint of a car or lift anywhere - then a misdiagnosis of my car in a big way that could have ended up with me parting with 2 grand. On collecting my car I was asked "So what are you going to do - sell it?" I'd go thirsty and drive a trabant as a courtesy car - as long as I get friendly honest service and a decent price. Then spend the money I'd saved on something a little better than a lexus logo'd chocolate and opportunity to drive a nearly new IS for the day.......I can do that anytime for nothing simply by walking into one of those dealers saying I'm interested in purchasing one ;)
  3. Thats like comparing apples with oranges........FWD vs RWD in the wet, at 20mph on a roundabout is a single unique situation.....wonder how rover vs lexus handling compares in all other situations? Suspect the "rover handles better than a lexus" would not stand
  4. Why on earth make it that awkward to get at? Can understand why you could keep costs down by not having to run to a separate box in the boot - but why not just an eject button like on a standard CD player? A suspicious person may think they only want you to go to the dealers for any upgrade
  5. The suspense is killing me :)
  6. Same here....seems to come from the offside near to the bulkhead - which is where the ABS is located.....given I always experienced the noise just after braking assumed it was that making the noise....Was worried it was perhaps on its way out (think these things are around 1200 quid new!!!) but appears its "supposed" to do it given the responses.....
  7. So true.....or conversly, isn't it scary what little it takes to completely make your car throw a wobbly :P
  8. PM'd you with my mob- give us a shout when you get close on Sun.....
  9. I know the Texaco garage!!!! yay!!! That'd be cool. Split the difference and say 1040?! Thanks! Keith :) Done deal....How will I spot you lol
  10. Just for you Chris.......................... Date: 18th Nov Time: 11:00 Location: Car Park on Brocton Road - Barley Mow pub is on the island in the google maps link...you can clearly see the car park area on Brocton Road. Google Maps Link: Google Linky to Location Gord - you comin? Mark
  11. Problem sorted....very small thread of cloth I used to wipe the TB with was trapped between the body and the plate....removed, reset ECU and all is fine.... I sometimes wonder why I start these things in the first place :P
  12. Cleaned out my Throttle body last weekend and made a huge difference to the smoothness of my GS.....was running perfectly... but got in it today - CEL and VSC lights on - running rough as hell and wont go over 2000 revs (limp home I assume) Plugged in my OBD2 reader and got code P1128 - Throttle Control Motor Lock. Also noticed my 02 sensors all showing 0 (zero) volts. Suspect I may have done something wrong when cleaning - any suggestions or anyone know what the Throttle Control Motor Lock error means? Mark
  13. Alternatively Keith - If you know Penkridge then you can meet me there and follow me....either at my house or at the Texaco garage on the A449....say between 10:30 and 10:45? Also - no more takers for the meet?
  14. May be worth checking the throttle body too - I eventually got to the bottom of my GS problem - sounded like missfiring sometimes but noticed the revs were also very high at startup and wavered (is that a word!?!) around a bit - particularly at idle. Cleaned the throttle body out and took off the little plate on the throttle body that covers a little chamber with about 8 holes in - gave them all a good clean too (all with carb cleaner) and they were well mucky....not sure if the little chamber is common on all lexus - maybe just the GS.... After done, went to start thecar - thought I'd broke something as didnt think car would start - Turns out that it had actually started and was that smooth I couldnt tell !
  15. Cheers John.....I'll have a crack at it tomorrow ..... Mark
  16. Thats the sort of behaviour I'd expect from an MPG dial in any car....what was it doing before?
  17. Finally come round to thinking I ought to fit my Bluetooth Parrot Car Kit (3200 LS) into my Lex.... Before I embark on the mission though I have a few questions; 1) Does the "Navigator" headunit use a standard ISO connection? 2) How easy is it to take out the headunit to get access to install my parrot kit 3) Anyone know if theres any space at all behind the headunit in the GS (Mk II) The parrot kit comes with a small blue box that mutes the headunit when you receive calls and also controls the voice command etc - needs to fit somewhere behind the head unit - Fitted in my old LS but was a tight squeeze. Box os a bit larger than a cigarette packet but not quite as thick.... Wasnt going to bother - and buy me one of those ones that clip to your sunvisor - but was very impressed with the quality of the parrot kit - cant beat the sound coming through your car speakers and also muting of the headunit - plus no recharging issues.
  18. Glad to hear you and the passengers are all ok....testiment to the Lex that it protected you all... I wrote off my LS in 2006 - was taken to the Insurance approved bodyshop - When I arrived there to collect my courtesy car - thats when they told me its a write-off. I asked about getting access to it as there were a few bits and pieces I'd had fitted.....they were fine with it and stated I couldnt take anything that was original manufacturer fitted or any original parts - but anything else I could take - although if I had replaced an original part with an alternate part - I needed to replace anything I took with the original. (I'm tired, had a long week and and the above looks like drabble after reading it - but hopefully you get what I'm saying :) From experience - don't worry about missing the car - I missed mine sooo much - but in a way, glad it happened as I probably wouldnt have my GS now if it hadnt....These things happen for a reason and the good thing is you are all ok. Good luck with your "retrieval" and in your search for a replacement (that is - if it is indeed a writeoff)
  19. I can already see the headlines.....Local LOC meet leads to lost Lexi :P So....confirmed....Meet as per original location - with convoy to 9 gates.....Lee leading the way
  20. Cheers all....thought as much....probably better for my family if I get an electrician to do it......would not be good if I ended up killing one of them....
  21. You're driving over the speed limit and arriving 1 hr before you should be ?
  22. thought exactly the same - why would someone look after the exterior so well yet neglect the interior and engine bay so much.....that exterior looks a little too good for a car thats supposedly done 110K too.. Loose badges in the boot would also worry me a little....
  23. I have a GS but -mine's in the boot - right hand side under the carpet.....might wanna try there unless someone with a new IS can confirm where Guessing yours will be DVD based too given its age...
  24. About finished re-doing my bathroom - wish I'd never started.....ripped out the old suite, pulled off the tiles, pulled out the old floor, removed the old electric shower. Now about done - finished the tiling and the floor.....just gotta fit the new suite and shower. My question is - Can I fit the shower myself or under the recent regs do I need a qualified electrician to fit it?
