  1. Always thought you needed new ECU if no master key available - plus you'll need all new locks otherwise they will always be able to get in your car. Does the £350 also include "deleting" of the old keys from the car so they will no longer work - If not and your car gets nicked then you may not be covered under your car insurance.
  2. If it started immediately after having your new tyres then it looks more than likely its a balancing issue rather than geo - unless they messed around with it whilst doing your tyres. Get them Road Force Balanced (find somewhere with a Hunter 9700 machine) - You wont believe the difference ;o))
  3. For that sort of money you probably going to be looking at something approaching 100K mark - Just make sure its had timing belt changed at correct interval and isnt due one soon. Decent tyres are ~ £100 each so also make sure they dont need replacing soon either - or take account of it with your price. The only other thing - gonna use a little more fuel than your aygo ;o) If you find a decent one thats been looked after properly...they will litterally go on forever .....
  4. Having just gone through the process of re-newing my car insurance I can honestly say I havent found a single company that doesnt want 5yrs history of your points - or accident history - if one does exist - I havent found it. It doesnt really matter how long the points stay on your licence or are active for DVLA purposes when it comes to insurance - As they will make up their own rules and risk assessments - based on what they want and how they want to work. For reference - Disqualifications such as those for DR10's remain on your licence for 11 years - which is conveniently 1 year after the standard "licence" is valid for (10 years) - So if you want it removed within 20, you have to pay for a new licence just 1 year after getting your first renewal.
  5. Assuming you didnt have the problem before cleaning? In which case - check for debris in throttle body and make sure the butterfly valve isnt stuck.....I cleaned mine not so long ago and a tiny (and I mean tiny) thread of material from the cloth I used had got trapped between the valve and the body - Car ran like a complete pig - revving high and sounding like a bag of nails.... Removed the thread of material.....car back to normal ;o))
  6. On a serious note.....save yourself time, embarressment and loads of hassle....just go up to the guy and say "Sorry I wont be giving you lifts to and from work anymore and walk away" Takes 5 seconds, everyone knows where they stand and will all be forgot about in 10 minutes. He may even respect you more for being honest than trying to gradually put him off by doing silly things like driving like a looney (dangerous for both of you and any other vehicles/people) or coming out with hints...in the end it will all get very awkward anyway...
  7. Tell him youve started smoking and the law prevents you from smoking in a public confined area - a work colleague is putting currently putting you under a lot of stress and you therefore feel the need to start smoking in your car to and from work in order to calm you down. Fit into the conversation how much fuel has rocketed recently and you cant go out this weekend because your car tax and insurance (oh look these have gone up too) are both due this month - and last months mot was a tad expensive due to the new exhaust and they also identified that your tyres are close to the limit and will need replacing within the next 500 miles - although they could do you a good deal at £105 each. Luckily your next service is an intemediate likely to cost you only £350 but your next one is gonna be the biggie (cambelt change) Finally, ask him if he's got internet at home and if he's ever looked at the Network Rail site and just how cheap you can get a Saver Day Return for if you book it early enough - given the cost of running your car you have considered it yourself - With all these stealth taxes is it really worth driving a car? Of course it is - because you dont have to sit next to that annoying person on the bus or train - you are in your own protected environment where you can listen to your music as loud as you want and do whatever you want (within reason of course ;o)) as there is no-one there inside your pride and joy. Then see what he does....
  8. I assume the forum software keeps a record of IP addresses used to post - ISP's also log which user account is logged on using which IP address so in theory you could trace where this was posted..assuming not done in internet cafe etc then could help trace the car. Admin - Do you keep a record of IP addresses for users logged on?
  9. Ebay item: 230215028099 Never heard of it?
  10. Hi Keith Saw you too....although only clicked just after you passed ;o) Just dropping my lad off at school... Mark.
  11. Get your wheels Road Force balanced on a Hunter 9700 machine.....had my wheels balanced 3 times because of a vibration issue - Seemed ok for a while but then back again. Got them balanced on a Hunter 9700 and sorted out the problem. My wheels had also been cross balanced at a previous establishment - which can also create problems - check your weights on the wheels - they should all be together without any large gaps. WHen you have them re-balanced make sure all the old weights are removed prior to balancing to start afresh.
  12. By the looks of it - this site is actually hosted in the US (admin forgive me if I'm wrong) - My ping times and d/l rates to US are extremely slow today (340ms ping) but to the rest of the world fine (max 22ms) So could be an issue in UK-->US connectivity.....
  13. Excellent piece of kit...good quality..... Standard connection is via the ISO connectors on the head unit (is the IS standard ISO?) - theres a little blue "mute box" which does all the work - which you need to hide behind the head unit too.....that, along with all the cables (and adaptor loom if required) means you need quite a bit of space in order to fit. Fitted mine in my old LS - which worked perfectly (although had to get an adaptor loom to connect) - Havent bothered with my GS as its not ISO - and dont like the idea of cutting wires behind there.... Only other point - Think about where you are going to put the display part - Unless you want to start putting screws in the dash then it can be tricky to find somewhere suitable to place - where you can also see the display.
  14. Congrats...thats a nice lookin car...and you didnt mess about either.....
  15. It could all be perfectly fine....Motor Traders often "share" cars between each other......car could be "owned" by one but car located at another traders site and he has it "on loan" to try and sell. Not neccessarily something dodgy.....
  16. I'll not bother bringing my portable bbq then ;) Having checked 3 other weather sites - none of them give sleet tomorrow - cold & wet....no sleet though. I personally take no notice of the forecasts - remember last year ......4 days of being told we were getting snow......5th day said we wernt - only day it snowed all year ;o)
  17. I've just about finished making the suggested adjustments to my GS.....I could only see the first post on the link so didnt see how he went on - before I start her up - how did it go? - don't want to do any damage to my car but all seems to look good to me. I'm a little worried now I've seen your posts - should I not have bothered? I cant believe F1 cars dont use this "technology" - it looks like an excellent way to achieve more power than a charger without having one......I managed to convert mine for £39.46 (parts only - my mate fitted it all for free cause he knows what he's doing - so no labour) Trip to a dyno tomorrow to test the bhp - my mate (knows loads about cars - he's always telling me stuff!) reakons I'll get a possible 420 bhp. Pipework - £32.47 Electric fan to provide even more boost - £6.99 Fan included a free switch - which I've wired up to the steering wheel - so I can switch on when I need that extra power. Cable gets in the way a little on tight bends - but sure I'll be able to sort that one out later. Somehow (admittedly by accident) I've managed to get it to light up one of the lights on my dash when I switch it on.....its the one that looks like an engine - which I thought was quite appropriate so I've kept that in as an improvement to the original idea. My mate reakons car will handle that kind of power with stock suspension and he says "them Lexus brakes are right good stuff" - so wont be needin any new brakes either. I'll let you all know how I get on tomorrow - My mate says he'll do the same upgrade for gold members on LOC for £80 plus parts if anyone interested. My mate did say I might need an up-rated alternator to provide enough power to the fan - its a beast as you can imagine - If thats the case then he said I'm lookin at about £90 from halfords. Wish me luck...
  18. Its your Break Booster Pump which is located next to your Master Cylinder, I know this because i had to replace mine which was an expensive job lol. what were the symptoms? mine does that also the brake light stays on and also the vsc and abs light! and constant clicking and buzzing? and from time to time the brakes dont work!! do you think its the same problem you had? btw where did you get the replacement part ? who fitted it? Hi.........I'd get your car looked at asap - especially if the brakes sometimes dont work.....can't believe you are driving the car when you know the brakes sometimes dont work.....if its the ABS then its not a cheap part I'm afraid....approx £1200 - Although you can get recon one for around £600-700 if you willing to fit one......but get it looked at before you kill yourself or worse kill someone else....

  21. Retailers (as indeed anybody) have the right to refuse to sell an item to anyone without having to provide a reason - so doesnt mean they are legally bound to sell to you at that cost......shame....but true....
  22. Sure I'll lend my IS out but it will cost £12,000 per time plus fuel Ahh...come on - bit unreasonable charging for fuel ;)
  23. Chris - You forgot to mention the bit about you lending out your IS ;)
