  1. Addicted is not the word.... I buy lots of stuff for myself as well as family members.. 8 parking sensors still on their way for £27 inc postage can't be bad. John
  2. Computer Technician.. If it ain't broke, don't fix it... John
  3. After some more research on the matter, I understand it is a system called C-Best, which allows changes to be made to all sorts of things including security, lighting, climate control etc.. Just wondering if there is any other way to do it, or maybe the Toyota dealers have a similar system.. John
  4. Hi guys.. been asking on the IS threads about total closure, then found out I should already have it anyway, it works fine from the key, and I have found I can remote open the windows from the fob, but not close them. On reading the handbook, it says it can be deactivated.. (contact dealer) Is there a simple method of reactivating this function?? or is it faulty? Thanks for any help. John
  5. Further to my previous post, my GS300 is supposed to have remote closure... I found out that I can open the windows/roof but not close them, the handbook says it can be disabled by the dealer.. now trying to find out if I can reativate it easily. John
  6. I have just bought a GS300, and am looking to fit some type of remote closure.. I don't know if the IS is the same, but mine lets you wind up the windows and sunroof with the key in the door lock. I was thinking of a timer unit linked to the lock switch, and triggered by the remote door locking/alarm.. My thinking would not require any other relays, and very little wiring to do.. just a commercially available timer relay. Your thoughts? John
  7. I'll be there with MX6.com... in the Lexus though, so if you get the chance, pop over and say Hi
  8. Hi There.. Picked the car up this afternoon, and first impressions were it's very comfy, but felt a bit strange on the road.. some idiot pulled out, and I put my foot on the brake, and my left one hitting the floor with the abscence of the clutch After a few miles in heavy traffic, it was growing on me... eventually becoming to a point where I felt like the President being wafted along in the lap of luxury... Yep, I like it a lot :) John
  9. Turning HID's on and off quickly will shorten their life considerably.. Retrofit HID's are technically illegal in the UK as they are not E approved, and do not have the self leveller.. saying that, I have them on my 626GT, and the difference is amazing, and it has passed the last 4 or 5 MOT's without problem, as the cutoff pattern is much sharper and defined than halogen. bear in mind, most HID fitments have projector beam lights, and the 626 has these as std. I was importing these for MX6 club members for around £110 all in, including delivery and all taxes paid. As I am only a newbie here, I won't take the liberty of starting a bulk buy, but if one of the admins want's details of the manufacturer I deal with, then I will pass the info on. John
  10. Know it's an old post.. but I found out that de-icer removes it as well, (by accident, just tried what I had in the car!) John
  11. I've been using Toyo's for years.. T1-S and now T1-R's.. superb levels of grip, wet of dry, quiet running, and comfortable.. The only downside is I wear them out too fast.. (FWD) last about 8000 miles on front, rears last ages.. John
  12. Has a fair few stone chips on the bonnet, but all touched up ok... which is proof of the high motorway mileage... but it does have full service history... Alloys are a bit kerbed/corroded.. although I've been told all lexus wheels go the same way.. The leather is superb... nice and soft :) John
  13. Hi, and thanks for the kind words.. The colour is a dark pearlescent blue where the sun hits it, but looks almost black otherwise. On another note, it doesn't have parking sensors installed (as yet) but I have ordered a set of 8 from good "ol" Ebay for £28 inc postage.. so I suppose you can class this as the first "tweak" mentioned above :) No pics as yet..... not got it ! But here are a few from the dealers pages. John
  14. The best product is Cable, although you must live in a cabled area to get it.. previously Telewest or NTL, but they bought the Virgin mobile part of virgin, and can now offer TV,phone, broadband and mobile in one package. BT is fairly good, but expensive, and customer service is overseas as well. Tiscali is reasonable Pipex is good And there are many more that are good, and that's the real problem.. the problem is there are so many providers, and it's hard to recommend one that will cover all your needs. The best way to do it, is to avoid the bad ones.. AOHELL... avoid like the plague Talktalk.. likewise Sky.. a new provider, and not doing well. orange.. going downhill fast. if you are with one of the above, and it's working fine, don't worry about it.. most of the bad news is when it goes wrong.. unlike AOHell, that works completely different to any other ISP... they are a Content provider and filter the internet through their own system.. i.e you cant get on the internet without AOL running.. this makes it slower, and not one I would recommend. I'm a computer technician, and deal with this every day... John
  15. Hi Guys n Gals, I have decided to buy another car, and this time opted for a Lexus GS 300 SE on a 53 plate, with Navigator and Levinson Audio. Previously owned many Mazda's and have been extremely happy with them. current one being a 92' 626GT 2.5V6.. rumour has it, only about 30 left in the UK... as very few were sold in the 2 years they were available. I am one of the Moderators on MX6.com, a worldwide club mainly for the Mazda MX6 coupe's, so pretty well used to forums, and the like. Anyway, I hope to be picking up the GS late next week, and look forward to a bit of luxury in my "old" age :) I have plenty of mods on the 626, but want to leave this car as std as possible.. but might have a few small tweaks on the cards.. I did fancy an LS, but the wife said it was too big.. and I have to admit that stood at the side of one, they are... After a fair old barney with the missus, "WE" agreed the GS would be more suitable.. but one day, I will have an LS. I have owned the 626 for 11 years, and only had one breakdown for a common fault (ignitor) and other than that, it has never failed on anything electrical, mechanical or MOT's... regular servicing and consumable items is all it has had.. I hope the Lexus will fair just as well, and I have no reason to believe otherwise. John
