  1. Bought some on your recommendation, didn't spray it on, applied it via a cloth, let it dry and buffed it up. Compared it after doing one wheel with one not treated, apart from a shiny appearance there was a noticeable difference to the touch. Will let you know how I rate it after a few weeks.
  2. I'd better get one then as you're getting a better mpg figure than my IS250. No, seriously, I have driven the ISF a few times now and as I've said many times before, it's like being in my 250 SE-L for 90% of the time with the other 10% when you can use the extra power (and then you're illegal within seconds). Yes I can well afford one, but doubt if I will. All personal opinion, of course. I detect a slight sarcasm with my mpg figures? That is also the official figures from Lexus, and on my first long motorway run without cruise on i actually got 37mpg... which i couldnt quite believe. That will be due to the variable inlet and exhaust timing though. I got less in my old Ford Cougar 2.5 V6. I agree though about your comment of it not being different enough inside. I think the outside is where it mainly stands out with the wheels, bonnet bulge, vents and exhaust. But yes, inside it pretty much is an IS250. But then the 250 is alot nicer than the equivelant BMWs in my opinion. I would like the F to look a more individual inside. But then my wife says she loves the car because its so understated and just 'nice'. And people kind of dont expect it when it pulls away from them etc The 34 and 37 mpg figures are they tank average or brim to brim?
  3. Yeah i was gonna say...Go down the pub... :D I dont do strictly or X-factor.....i`d rather go out n about... "out n about" there's an idea, she'll think I'm in the garage.
  4. Couldn't manage without a garage, most important part of the house. Where do you go if you want some peace and quiet or to get away from X Factor or Strictly B----- Awful, suppose there's always the local.
  5. Thanks for the tip Parthiban. Got some Collinite 476 and applied it this afternoon whilst listening to Villa beating Chelsea. Then after polishing Mrs Exiled's car applied it to that also whilst listening to United beating Bolton. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon, hardest part of the whole exercise was having to listen to Alan Green. Would you suggest more than one coat?
  6. It's a pity it should come this. You should probably just get rid and move on but at some stage you must have rated Lexus to buy three. If it were me I'd forget about the dealer you've been using and look further afield. Other owners have had their problems solved why not you?
  7. Thanks Steve, it's an auto and for whatever reason it did it, it's not doing it now. Ticks over at about 800 after a few minutes and just creeps forward very slowly on the flat and holds on a slight gradient.
  8. Thanks Parthiban. Like I said, not much knowledge on wax's etc so followed Honest John's advice plus gleaned informatiom from Autoglym's website before buying, you may well be correct though, after all Autoglym do have a product to sell. Sorry if I was misleading, super resin polish is great stuff but you shouldn't really need it on a new car as the paintwork should be perfect! EGP is fantastic though, but the gloss finish won't last several washes unless you protect it with a good top wax coat - collinite 476 is a good hardwearing one :) Thanks for that I'll get some and get it on before the EGP wears off. It's all pay out aint it.

  10. Got the car home without it getting wet, gave it a wash to get the dust off, dried it and shoved it in the garage, following day as much as I wanted to take it out I thought I’d give it a good wax whilst it was pristine. Read a lot on here about what sort of wax to use, Chandru’s post on “ My Is 250 All clean “ mentioned products I’ve never heard of, I looked back at some old threads then took the easy route, followed Honest John’s recommendation and bought Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection from Halfords, three for the price of two, gave the car three coats of the polish then put on the gloss protection which is a liquid as opposed to a cream, let it dry for a couple of hours then buffed it up, it certainly looks well so will see how it lasts. Was offered Supaguard but I reckon 50% is profit and 30% labour, I can supply the elbow grease so that’s 80% of the cost gone, the other 20% goes on the product and the big bag of goodies they give you. I had Superguard a few years ago on a new car, they were flogging it cheap, we have problems with sap from trees and bird lime, I thought it may help, it didn’t at all, in fact I was not much impressed with the stuff, only my opinion. Started the car up after having it in the garage for thirty six hours and it shot up to 2000 revs, at every junction the engine was racing, after a while it slowed down to 1500. Went on a journey, 30 miles and when got back home it was still running fast. I then sussed out what I’d done, when I got the car home after collecting it and in between lavishing it with Autoglym I’d spent a load of time playing around with the radio, cd and mp3 player. I set the seating positions and made various adjustments, this must have taken a load of juice out of the battery, some clever device in this car told the engine to put this power back into the battery by increasing the revs, at least that’s my theory. It’s fine now.
  11. Thanks for good wishes, busy polishing, just come up for air!
  12. Taken in the spirit Roger. Noises can be annoying but as you get older and your hearing starts to go they become less of an irritation, Classic FM on low volume is a soothing buffer.
  13. Roger, for Ch....'. sake life's too short, or is it just me, no offence intended.
  14. After being a member of the forum for a long time I've just taken delivery of a new Lexus IS 250 SEL Auto in Brechin Slate with Sussex Grey. It'a an absolute dream to drive but then I knew that, I've driven all the competition and this suits me the best. Thanks to the established members of the forum who answered many questions on the car, and no thanks to the ones who didn't want me, a non owner, on the forum in the first place. Some join the forum when they become owners and many have regretted not joining earlier and gaining more knowledge before they bought, I did it the way it suited me. I didn't go down the online route, after visiting a few dealers I opted for the one who worked hard to get my business, initially I told them it was an auto I was interested in but they suggested I try the others just to be sure. The price agreed was competitive and I am very happy. I knew more about this car before I bought than any other I have owned, having driven them all it had to be the 250 Auto, it's a totally different car to the 220d and to a large degree the 250 manual. I'd always liked the SEL but when the model was updated I was a bit dubious about the colour of the wood trim but having seen it a few times I now prefer it to the previous colour. You don't have to be an owner to join the forum, if you're interested in the car then sign up and ask any questions you may have. The vast majority of members will make you welcome and help as much as they can, long-standing members plus a few newcomers between them have an unbounded wealth of knowledge on the car. You may get one or two who don't think you should be on the site if you're not an owner, although me buying one may shut them up, in my case there have only been a couple, one came and went pretty quickly, one of his gripes was the non folding rear seats, they were very important to him but he never thought to look or ask before buying. Hope to contribute more now I'm an owner and will upload some photo's at some point. Thanks.
  15. Good point, NobleSX drives a manual, I was driving an auto, he can still give it a go though.
  16. On one of my many test drives I had exactly the same problem. Had the car for the day, after a couple of hours was very uncomfortable, back ache and a stiff, almost numb, back-side, I am a bit prone to back ache. One of the problems with the fully electric seat is the miriad of different positions you can achieve. I had the same problem with the base, felt like there was a gap. What I did was fully ease off the lumber support and raise the front squab which lifts the thighs, this took some of the weight off my back-side in effect spreading the area of support (I'm not overweight, in case your'e wondering) I also had my seat back well up ( not reclined too much ) I then played around with the lumber support, you can feel it gradually increasing. After a while managed to get a very comfortable position by making minor adjustments while I was driving. After having previously driven other IS's without a problem I originally thought there was something wrong with the seat. The key for me was raising the front squab. Hope it works, once you get it right it's extremely comfortable.
  17. Hi Exiled, do you have the model number of the Nokia charger you have? The only one i can find is one which looks too big to fit in the armrest socket with out stopping the lid from closing Thanks I wonder if on the 2009 Is the aux and 12v point sit lower in the centre armrest? In answer to your question. In view of the fact that I now need two, due to the imminent new arrival, I was passing Carphone Warehouse a couple of weeks ago so called in and bought another for the exorbitant price of £14.99. Sure you can get one cheaper. I asked for one for my Nokia 2630, unfortunately I no longer have the packaging and the receipt does not detail any relevant info. However, it has a smaller jack plug than my previous phone. so just take your phone along and you should get fixed up. The markings on it are as follows, CE, e1, 022281, For NK-6101/N70/N71/N80/N90 It looks just like the one pictured and labelled KONDOR in Wozza's post, like that one the contact points are gold coloured. Hope that helps.
  18. Does that mean the selector on the central console has been redesigned? Currently you have to physically move the selector to the right to engage S mode. No, don't think the selector on the central console has been changed in any way. As parthiban says, flick the + or - paddle when in D and you can go up or down the gears. It just duplicates what you can do when in S mode, I think.
  19. Bought a new Nokia six months ago which now have a smaller jack plug. The cigar lighter power lead is a stubby one that fits with plenty of room to shut the lid likewise the power lead from my tom tom.
  20. Having not driven a model with auto-lock this all sounds very confusing. Question: You are sat in the car with your engine running, how does your front seat passenger get out of the car and is it the same procedure for the rear seat passengers.
  21. As I am in London I was told my car would be from a dealer on the M4 corridor (Lexus reading) it was slightly out of the way but a train ticket cost me £25 which is nothing compared to what I saved using them. My brother in law bought a Rx400h with metalic paint, 2 years free servicing and boot liner from them for £31700 brand new and picked it up from Lexus Park Lane brand new on a 09 plate. When I got the quote from dealdrivers I took it to my local Lexus dealer (Lexus Edgware Road) and they would not except it as it was an internet quote and they dont match it, however that was 2 years ago things may of changed. Good Luck Thanks, that's very informative. A feeble response from Edgeware Road. It's their perogative to refuse to cut their margins to supply you but I would have thought they would have tried to put up an argument to dissuade you from going down that route. It was easy enough to find out whether the quote was genuine or not, all they had to do was go onto the website and punch in what you punched in. They know what cars are being sold for online, it's a big thorn in their side. These online dealers have made it much easier for Joe Public to have some idea what he should be paying for his new car.
