  1. I finally bought an Aristo yesterday, I have been looking at them for a while and they really grew on me. So here it is a black Mk2 that came in the UK in June 1999 and it has GS300 Sport wheels on. It really is a pleasure to drive and it is already quick when you floor the throttle so I can't imagine how it is with BPU Here it is at home with the little sister some outside shots the inside: and the engine I did not take much pictures, I will do more when I am back in France
  2. Do you have pics of your Aristo Gord? I did not know you bought one
  3. Yes it is just a cover I have a mate who replaced his with the AS200 one in the process of turning his IS into an Altezza, same part, just a different logo on the top: http://forum.clublexis.com/viewtopic.php?pid=15019#p15019
  4. It is a BEAMS engine but it is no different from the UK spec one, an Altezza AS200 is exactly the same as a basic IS200 S maybe with less sound proofing material though so it is definately not better than a non imported model. As for the exhaust, it has to have the same cats as an IS200 to pass SVA
  5. It was Marcus who fitted a Vizage kit on his Aztec Fire ;) The front and rear lip need to be cut about 1 inch the rewelded
  6. regarding the fact that the log book says Lexus GS300, it seems to be quite common on the Aristos. There was this one where the seller clearly states it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=380092705091
  7. I can understand your thinking as I feel the same. I am currently looking at Mk2 Aristos as well but I am keeping the IS as it is not worth selling with all the money I spent in it.
  8. I had an OEM one that lasted 50k miles with the supercharger, I just changed it for another OEM one and I am well pleased with it so far
  9. Hi Barry...yeah thats at the fly mate...unfortunately my plans for further mods changed when I had some financial problems, so there has been nothing post the work done by TDi! Thankfully that is all behind me now though, so I'm currently in two minds as to whether to continue pushing the Lex or go for something else. I had one run on a dyno that read 197. something at the wheels...so with a rough conversion that puts me somewhere above 240...but to keep it a little more modest I've always said 240! I have the same mods, mine was dynoed 196.5 at the hubs by TDi, it happens that what it was in fact at the fly from other dynos readings ...
  10. They are different clusters for LHD or RHD. On my LHD IS, I had to change the clusters to RHD ones to drive in UK. Or you can add a sticker on the glass to change the light direction but it does not look good and it is designed for temporary usage
  11. I told him that he can find the stickers in the services on the motorway around calais ;)
  12. Monty tu trouveras les autocollants dans les stations services du Nord. Je sais que dans les stations de l'A16 notamment celle des 2 caps ils en ont
  13. Cheers for that, Do the numbers indicate KPH or MPH as I see it stops at 180? I think I will have to see one in the flesh to be sure that it can be removed without too much assle
  14. Looking at buying one already registered in the UK and having it registered in France but I need to have km/h readings to register it France If it is a sticker over the standard cluster, it will be a mess to remove so I will be better of buying a TRD cluster from Prolex
  15. I tried to register on clubaristo but it does not work so I thought I would ask here aswell. I am looking at buying an JZS161 Aristo beginning of next year and I wondered if the speedo cluster had to be changed to meet UK specifications or does it remain in km/h. If it has to be modified does the modification make it mph only or does it retain the km/h scale?
  16. Neil has basically the same setup as mine. Mat yes they are the Phil and Wayne you know ;)
  17. I had no special reason to doubt about the figures and the car was running. If there had not been Dave's post I would probably still not have had it checked
  18. Not really sure there is anything to do, the work has been done more than 18 months ago, the car has been running as I put 20000 miles on it since then. I don't think mis-information can be prosecuted neither do I have the time and money to do it. The only think that has not been done properly by TDI as far as I am concerned is the mapping of the car, I can not fault the parts installation apart from the fact I did not needed them as I had been told
  19. No the Police has been very friendly but absolutely useless. That was lucky I had a spare set of wheelsin the UK
  20. Some news on the car :) After reading the posts on Dave and Adie's car, I went to SPC Horsham which is conveniently next door to where I leave as I have the same FCON symptoms: non working fuel guauge, car not starting first time, big black smoke when accelerating obviously overfuelling. I know the car was running rich as I asked TDI to map it so it is safe for the engine. After a chat with Phil and Wayne, we put the car on the dyno to see how it goes. The results were very interesting indeed, on 3 runs the car produced 196bhp and 160FtLb torque which is almost what I got at the TDI meet last year. Unfortunately there is a catch. The values from TDI are supposedly at the hubs whereas the ones at SPC Horsham are at the flywheel ... They measured the intake pressure, temperature and lambda at the exhaust. First of all the boost pressure is at 0.25bars not the 0.45 that I have been told it was thanks to the Katana intercooler. With a boost pressure almost the same as a standard TTE or slightly lower, it is hardly surprising that the car is in fact producing less than a standard supercharged one. The lambda values showed that the car was running very rich all the way in fact it was richer on the low end than on the top end ... To say I am gutted is an understatement, I spent £7000 to add parts to my already supercharged IS200 to make it run worse than it was before :tsktsk: I decided to leave the car to SPC so they can try sort things out. I just picked it up this evening, it is no longer producing big black smokes, the lambda values are now sensible and it produces 10 more bhp all along the revs. The torque has been increased to a constant 190+ FtLb from 3200 revs. Phil and Wayne told me that the fuel gauge issue should be sorted soon as they are working on it. Ike who did the new mapping told me that as long as the SC speed does not increase, there is no way I can get much more power than what it is supposed to produce which is 200bhp so the only way forward is a bigger pulley which I already have thanks to Prolex, I just have to wait for the stroker kit to be available now :P Overall I am very thankful to SPC Horsham, the service has been very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
