  1. Using a drill I ve made an opening at the ashtray AND to the plastic that holds it. Then with the help of Velcro (one peace glued on ipod and the other using the 2 screws on the ashtray cover), ipod follows the movement of the cover sliding towards the shift knob and back up. and a little video from mobile phone... -click-video-
  2. Wegiel, are you sure about those 12l/100km? (23,5mpg) At 90km/h i ve got 7,5 - 9 l/100km (37,6 - 31,4 mpg) with steady gas and a seemingly leveled road.
  3. Hi Wozza Where did you get this camera? Is something like this on ebay? What is the viewing angle? I 've been looking for such a small one. The smallest i ve found is this: -click- item number: 310091898140 But i am not sure it will fit where you put it... And one small observation. Bumper is just visible to the left of your screen. Wouldn't be more practical for parking, to give a littel more angle to the camera so the bumper would be visible along the whole bottom of the screen?
  4. If you are on "disk 2" or higher, which is your saved playlists on your ipod, then the song will appear but after the predefined time when backlight goes off you wont see anything. Even if you change song or touch the dial, screen does not light up. Only solution is to set the backlight to stay ON all the time, which means that if you close your stereo, ipod screen will remain on all the time saying that is charging. If you are on "disk 1" which means you select from the ipod what playlist to play, then song appears and if screen goes off after the predefined time, if you touch the dial or change song, the screen will light up again. Hope i helped.
  5. I have the same HR springs on yellow Bilstein shocks. Car handling, im sure its not what this chassis is most capable of with a better combination or a suspension kit but i don't have any serious bottoming issues (only on extreme rough conditions). I think you have to replace / upgrade your shocks. Springs, front/rear mixing is impossible and out of question.
  6. If Brasso does n't work, try wet sanding with 800 - 1200 - 2000 grid sandpaper (maybe the 800 can be skipped if your headlights is not so bad) and then a good rub with some paint finishing compound (i used 3M in a black bottle). That method worked miracles to me!
  7. i first saw them on ebay: 330263273327 but i got them for less than half that price from someone in US that bought them for his brother which sold his car before they arrived… (at least that’s the story his was telling…) I suspect that he discovered a little late, that those are IS200 and NOT IS300 headlights… They are not xenon.
  8. Since the signal detect plan is dropped (for complexity and doubtful results), that is the target that I am after. To have audio output from one device at a time, but at least not by changing cables on the grom unit, but by a convenient switch. So modification has to be made on the ipod cable. I found which pins are for audio but it’s really hard for me to deal with the little cables inside… They 're waaaaay too thin! So the only solution is to have some kind of female 8pin mini-din plug that I will solder my own cables (including a DPDT switch) and a male 8pin mini-din plug to put at the end (and into the grom unit). But, I asked to two local stores for something like that, with no luck… Any good source on the internet for something like that? I hope I am not wrong again about the above thinking…
  9. Sorry for the not so clean car... Those are KOITO JDM black housing headlights and i really like them ! There is a disadvantage though... no electric beam adjustment... I remember reading somewhere that the motor from the standard headlights can be adapted to those ones. Anyone can confirm that? BTW fog lights are "photoshop painted"... Pretty soon to be painted in reallity
  10. Thank you very much Geoffers Navigator has a pretty satisfying loud speaker for navigation instructions BUT I want to use it for video and TV in the future because it has a video input. So, it would be much nicer to have sound come out from the car speakers. I think I will drop the signal detector plan… My current situation is shown in the picture below. What I want to avoid, is switching cables every time I want to have audio from ipod or navigator. My thinking is to modify the ipod cable to have both ipod connector and RCA at one end (and at the other end the mini-DIN permanently connected to GROM interface). I suppose inside the ipod cable there are 4 smaller cables for the 2 channel audio that can be cut and connected to two RCA. First question: what will happen I do that and have both devices connected at the same time playing. Second question: If the the above doesn’t work, can I put a switch so I can choose from where the sound will be passing? (and still have connected both devices at once) Thank you very much!
  11. well, my knowlege of electronics is minimal so, if i may ask a link of some appropiete relay to use... and about signal detector. Navigator does not have a separate signal for audio output. It just has a standard 3,5mm headphone line-out. What layout should i use?? Geoffers please give me your lights on this (and your links also..!)
  12. Parthiban thanks for your reply. Does your car have OEM satnav? Because if it does, maybe your phone kit is using the satnav capability to interfer to oem headunit sound.
  13. I have for 5 months now the grom ipod solution on my car and it works just fine. I also have the line-in cable for the same unit which allows to connect any RCA or 3,5mm audio input. I 've been using both of those options and every time i want to switch the source from i ipod to anything else i have to change to appropriate cable connected to the grom unit... Question is, can we find a solution to have both ipod and an another "line-in" device connected at the same time? Email from GROM said "we don't have such solution". Not much help from them... I saw the new USB unit that has, on the same cable, both USB plug AND a 3,5mm plug --> -CLICK-
  14. I am on a similar project and i wanted to ask if someone found a solution so we can pass the sound of the aftermarket NAV to OEM sound system... That would be really nice, as most systems are fine for playing music-video also. Did anyone accomplish this??
  15. Passenger's seat does not heat at all. Fuse seems to be ok, the light on switch comes on ok, drivers seat working just fine. I am sure that lexus dealer would not be cheap if a a heating pad has to be changed.... Is there anything else to check or alternatives to buy from??
  16. Under the bonnet behind the engine and just under the windscreen wipers there is a metal plate. At the bottom-left of it there is something like this: C/TR/A/TM And next to it some letters and numbers. The first 3 of them is your color code. In my case (and maybe we have the same color) is: 1C6 Hope it helps
  17. It does sound good !! :winky: As for the lag, it IS very annoying for me and it iS too long, but if you take it into consideration, it’s not something you can’t overcome… it’s really a matter of habit…
  18. One reason would be lower clutch wear plus smoother down-gear. Not to mention practice for sport driving. I learned to heal and toe with my previous car and I did it a lot. So it kind of happen my way of driving. Don’t have any big issues doing it with my lexus as well, although pedals position is not what’s best for it.
  19. thanks for you reply scott I saw some interesting lights on ebay too, like: 310079257257 or 310080177797 or 140263974888 and they all look the same thing from different seller. (gt_racers, xtream, ctrusa) then there is this item from ebay: 310080125022 (gt_racers also) which look most promising... they are also made for IS300 and from what i understand there are some serious fitment incompatibility... which one did you buy and from what seller. What is your option about the quality and performance of lighting? and most important, what problems with fitment did you face? thanks
  20. After an accident I need a new headlight, and because there will probably be an obvious difference with the old one, I will have to get two of them… Is there any other alternatives for our car, except OEM ?
  21. I am thinking of converting the front dash ashtray, in to a ipod tray! Think its possible and will be nice to have the ipod hidden or poped up at will! I just don't want to experiment to the one i have...
  22. I am sure Flex is much better. But there is a 45% difference in price also ! My brother has the basic model of Tein on his Yaris TS and i was impressed with the structural quality of the kit and the improvement in car handling w/o significant loss in comfort. Of course that was Yaris and this is an IS200...
  23. I think of ordering the Tein Super Street suspension kit (w/o the topmounts). I have the sport model and i find the front low enough but the rear disproportional high! I am also happy enough with current behavior of the OEM suspension, although i would like a little more rigid and presice control but without much cost over the comford of the ride. So, if can anyone enlighten me, how low can i go with this kit, and how its adjustment margins compare to the OEM suspension characteristics. I understand that it does n't have direct height adjustment but only via spring pre-load... Thanks in advance.
  24. If the question is what is best for the engine (not the enviroment or drivers patience) the answere is this: if oil doesn't have its normal tempurature that lubricates with much capacity the engine, then the best thing is to have the engine running at the lowest possible rpm and less possible load. And that is IDLE.
