  1. Mine has 192k, bought it with 4k as an ex demo. 09/2000 registered.
  2. Thanks for the offer seecarr11, but you are a little further than I thought :-) You are right it would cost more in shipping.
  3. Hi seecarr11, thanks for your response. I did manage to change the sensor....eventually. Found it really difficult to get a grip of the sensor to loosen it, but once done the new one went in without any probs. Where abouts are you, I'd be interested in the Parts that you no longer require? Thanks
  4. Hi, I've had the p0155 code appear today on my is200. Is it definitely the Denso DOX-0205 part that is required? Also, is this as easy diy job to fit to a unmodified is200 as the front sensor. I've previously had the p0135 code and changed the sensor towards the front. Have used sparkplugs.co.uk before for the front sensor and fitted that over two years ago, so do recommend them. Thanks,
  5. Got 180k on my IS200 SE Auto now. Bought it as an ex-demo (6 months old) in Feb 2001 with 4k. Looks good (from a distance), closer inspection shows all the stone chips, car park dings and vandal damage!!
  6. Got a replacement GROM kit and still nothing. Sent the whole lot back and given up :megaangry:
  7. Hi Matt, Stuart, thanks both for all your help. Just been playing with the GROM again, following instructions through step by step but still nothing! Yesterday, after using the flash drive with the firmware update I got the cd1 as per Matt's photo, but that was it. Today nothing. Carputer shop said they would replace the kit in case it is faulty, may try that and if it doesn't then will give up!
  8. Ok, just rejoined the wire. Took the stereo out, plugged the wires back in, still no joy. Then plugged in the flash drive with the firmware update and finally got the stereo to show the same screen that Matt sent last night. only problem no sound!!!! Think it's not meant to be......
  9. Thanks Matt, the iPod is a classic, so old style connector that came with the grom should be fine. I will recheck the connectors tomorrow and also try to reconnect the cut wire. If I can see some communication between the grom and the stereo, ill follow your step by step guide. Many thanks for your help, hopefully i'll have some good news tomorrow
  10. It was just the one wire he told me to cut as he said that this may cause the stereo to be muted! I'm now hoping that the wire that's been cut is not the power/signal to/from the GROM. I will use the instructions in your earlier post to see if I get connected. Failing that I'll ask for a replacement TOY1 cable and if that doesn't work, I'll get a refund on the GROM and take singing lessons!!!! The CD player packed up several years ago and I'd been using a tape adaptor to play the iPod through. Now either the tape player or the adaptor are making a lot of background noise.
  11. Thanks for the quick response Stuart, The TOY1 plug into the back of the stereo is so tight that I can not pull it back out, don't want to put too much force on it incase I damage anything. So, I've got the Y shaped TOY1 cable plugged into the right hand side (when looking at the stereo in situ) rear socket, the original cable that was in that socket (has two wires on it) I've now plugged into the TOY1 and connected the other end to the GROM. Everything on the car works as normal (radio and Sat nav Ladies voice). Plugged in the IPOD using the connector turned it on and nothing. Pressed CD, then pressed CD twice, still nothing. I have got the USB cable and the intention was to have both available so that i could use either Ipod or Android phone, but right now got neither. I've not tried the firmware yet, but seeing as I only got the GROM last Saturday, would've expected it to be upto date. getting a bit frustrated, seeing as most people have said it's so straight forward and seeing as as the CARPUTER-SHOP guy said to cut a wire. Although GROM in the U.S have said that's not a problem!!
  12. Hi, just been reading how easily most people have managed to install the GROM. I've just bought the USB2 device from GROM tried to install it using the TOY1 cable. The cable has two connectors on it. One plugged into the Stereo port (which already had a connector in it and I then plugged the original cable into the second connector on the TOY1 cable. Without plugging the original cable into th TOY1 I had no sound. I then connected the IPOD to the GROM but got nothing!! Contacted CARPUTER SHOP who I bought the GROM from and they told me to cut the white wire on the TOY1 cable - done that still nothing. Contacted GROM in the US and they've just sent me a firmware update. Really annoyed as I thought this was going to be straight forward, also did not read theis topic before and scratched the dashboard around the stereo.......... Any help would be welcome. BTW my car has the 13903 stereo and factory fit Sat Nav.
  13. Hi, just out of curiosity, how long are brake calipers supposed to last, realise this could be affected by how the car is driven and the weather conditions etc. Just that apart from the OSF which has been replaced twice now, the other three are original and I've had the car from when it was six months old. It is now 12.5 years old and has 174k on it. Have I been lucky with the other calipers?
  14. Just had the OSF caliper, pads and front discs changed. Saw a caliper on eBay but was not too sure about it, so bought from carparts4less instead. Item is remanufactured by Pagid, cost £118, including surcharge of £24. Also, they have a £15 off voucher if you spend over £100, so once I get my surcharge refunded the cost will be £79, plus it cost me £5 to return the old caliper. So a total of £84. Bit annoyed that the same caliper was changed by Lexus 60k miles ago but the other three are the originals. Next to do is rear discs, pads and shoes, all PAGID again.
  15. Mines a 2000/x with 170k, I've had it near enough 12 years now, just had the second cambelt change done this week. Will keep it going for as long as possible!
  16. Just had my second cambelt and tensioner fitted at Lexus Leicester, first was done at 90k and six years ago. this one done at 170k, did not know that the recommendation had changed to 6yrs/60k rather than 6yrs/100k. I asked for belts and tensioners back to see how they had worn and glad to say the old one looks to be in good condition. This time I also had the three aux belts changed as thought they have not been changed in 12 years (since new), they also look in OK condition. One thing I was not expecting though was a call from the garage saying that my radiator was shot and needed replacing!!
  17. It was the throttle body that needed cleaning. Car was really playing up on the weekend before it was due to go to the garage and becoming dangerous due to the random stalling, had to call out RAC. He took the engine cover off and sprayed some engine cleaner into the throttle body. Problem sorted, although tickover is now around 1000pm, was 500rpm. I also changed the air filter hitch was really dirty although I'd only replaced it 7 months/ 7000 miles ago. Anyway, all good now.
  18. Hi, I'm looking at getting the Grom kit, however I have the factory fit sat nav and a Nokia Bluetooth hands free kit fitted several years ago which mutes the stereo when making or receiving calls. I just want to be able to connect an iPod or other music player via the standard stereo as both cd and cassette (used to use cassette connector for iPod) have packed up. Does anyone know the best option to go for.
  19. Many thanks, I'll take a look, apologies for the late response, not had a chance to catch up.
  20. Hi, My IS200 SE Auto is playing up a little, first time ever in 12 years and 165k of ownership! It's stalling occasionally when slowing down whilst approaching roundabouts, junctions etc. Starts up and off it goes again. I contacted a Lexus dealer and the service guy suggested disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and that this would reset the ECU. Done that and went for a drive and stalled 4 times in 10 minutes, so now booked it in for them to tell me whats wrong although the engine light is not on. I've seen on the forum lots of mention of cleaning the throttle body and when I mentioned this to the dealer he said that he'd never had to do that before. The cost of the check up is £50 but I'm more concerned if I'm going to be told that it'll cost £xxxx to fix, probably more than the cars worth! Anything anyone could suggest? Also, does anyone know of a specialist in the Northampton area whose charges are more reasonable than a main dealer? Thanks for your help..
  21. Thanks for your responses. Good to know that coil packs should be OK for now. Is cleaning the throttle body a DIY job? If so, could you give me some simple instructions?
  22. Hi, Probably a stupid question but what are the symptoms of the coil pack failing? Also, do you have to change all six at the same time and where's best to get them from. My 2000/X IS200SE Auto has now got 165k on it and generally runs well, although after 60 miles on the motorway and stopping at the lights on a slip road the revs drop very low and the car feels as though it's going to stall. As soon as you move away it all good again. Any pointers as to what to check would be appreciated. Thanks.
  23. 350 miles on a combo of motorways and town. 410 miles just on motorway, regularly get this as I'm currently driving 650 miles a week, need to use the cruise set to max of 80mph though. Also need to think about getting a diesel!!

    Tyres

Hi, Has anyone tried Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres. I've always had Dunlop SP Sport 9000 tyres on my IS200SE as these were what it came with from new. I need new tyres on the front and was thinking of trying the Maxx tyres this time. Thanks
  25. My car is a 2000/X with 96K miles which I've had since it was 6 months old , I asked Lexus Milton Keynes to look into the rust during the last service and was told it's not covered by the 10 year anti perforation warranty. Bit annoyed as it's not really what I'd expect to see on a Lexus....
