  1. Hi, does anyone happen to have an air-con unit for sale that would fit my (2003, 52-plate) IS200 SE auto? Mine has just packed up and I've been quoted £400-500 for a new unit alone!
  2. Hi Guys Can anyone help at all with advice where the best place to go for (a good but inexpensive) repair of my power-sterring pump would be down here in the south of England (near London)????? Mine went yesterday, just after I came off the M25 from Gatwick!!!!
  3. If it was me, I'D SUE THEM FOR EVERY PENNY THEY'VE GOT!!!! We're in a recession - any company needs to be 'on the ball' to get and keep customers. What are they playing at..... Go on to your local newspaper's website and send an email - not naming them of course - but giving a jolly good idea of where they are.....
  4. It's the current market, isn't it - 'cos it's a 2litre engine everyone assumes it eats petrol. Mine is no dearer to run than my daughter's 1.6 Astra. Also, of course, the new road tax charges coming in doesn't help residual values. Great shame as they really are lovely cars; suppose it is a 'buyer's market' now..... :eerrrmm:
  5. YES - a lot of us 'girlies' are better drivers than some of you men!!! :ooh-ducky: For a start I can beat any boy-racer away from traffic lights, no trouble, even though I drive an automatic Lexy! :winky: And I can't bear for anyone to overtake me on a motorway - LOL Having said that, I still drive very safely and (usually) within speed limits
  6. Yes, thanks, I saw the pics; but I'm a 'girly' :ooh-ducky: and not very 'hands-on' with that kind of thing I'm afraid, though I am good at - LOL! Thanks, anyway.
  7. You and Ladies_Love_Lex (Triple L) are both different to the crowd as you're both women and there aren't that many at all on here " blsrbjg " is a girl??? thats alrite then, we can stick together and both of us obviously have taste :P oh and by the way thanks blsrbjg!! :winky: ....well I am female, but 'girl' is too much of a compliment - 'old bag' might be nearer the mark (LOL) :P There is absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of bling, as long as it is tasteful and to my mind the silver grill is just that :winky: B) . I don't know why there are so few of us on here; I know lots of women own a Lex, they are such lovely cars. Perhaps these sites are a 'man thing', though goodness knows why in this day and age, when even 'oldies' like me go on them Take care and good luck, whatever you decide to do aww, thanks... your as old as you feel lol ..... yeh im not sure why there are so few either. I just find it interesting reading what everyone posts on here... not that i can answer anything, I leave that to the other half. Infact he keeps saying im addicted to this site lately. I totally agree that you're only as old as you feel, however, other people see the 'outside' of you and consequently judge you to be as old as you look and boy do I look old! Anyway my lovely car helps keep me young - though perhaps not quite as young as some of the 'blokes' on this website - LOL! I visit here frequently, too, and occasionally answer something, but like you I don't really know enough about engines, etc, to make any informed comments. However, I know what I like and do know a little, which I've gleaned over the years. Tell your husband that visiting this site is good fun, that you are learning all about Lexi's, it's totally innocent and why doesn't he join you!!!! :D

  9. Hi, I prefer the silver, think it looks really good agains't the black paintwork; however, it will require more looking after, ie cleaning - LOL! So there is someone that likes the silver then, think i will just keep it like it for a while... I don't like to be a 'sheep' and much prefer to be different to the crowd (like you I think?); plus I definitely do like the silver against the black bodywork - it looks very smart. :winky:
  10. Easy answer to this one - get an auto! :winky:

  12. Hi guys Thought you might be interested to see the feedback from the petition submitted to Downing Street re car tax: The Prime Minister's Office has responded to that petition and you can viewit here: http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page17890 Prime Minister's Office Petition information - http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Roadtaxrates/
  13. Not first, second and third - it's not all cars - you forgot going out with the lads and football :P And don't worry Dave Ellen and Barrie always go to meets so they're always the oldest - you'd be like a spring chicken next to those two ooops! silly me, of course I forgot the mates and the footie!
  14. More fighting talk! You know you couldn't really do without us ladies and we couldn't do without you men. :winky: It's brilliant to be passionate about something, I just get the feeling sometimes (as I said in another reply) that you sometimes go just a tiny weeny little bit OTT
  15. Err we like female IS owners :winky: cars are 2nd love after the females :winky: You should try turning up at a meet one day, then if you have any questions that you need to know, us men will help you :D I'm far too old for that malarky - you'd wonder why the old granny was there - hahahaha! But it was a nice suggestion, thanks. I just get the impression from reading all the emails that your cars come first, second and third followed somewhat lamely by us poor old females....
  16. This is real fighting talk! I don't take 20 minutes to apply make-up, nor do I spend hours on the phone (in fact I'm glad not to use the phone in the evenings after spending much work time using it); I can't afford to go to the hairdressers (I have a Lexus to maintain), however, I do like shopping for clothes (rarely, as I can't afford many of them due to my mode of transport!) and I only watch TV occasionally - far too busy cleaning, cooking, washing, gardening getting the Lex cleaned, filling her up with petrol, etc, etc, etc....! Have you noticed that we women only 'moan' when you men ignore us or 'forget' to do the little tasks we sometimes ask of you? We wouldn't be without you guys either, but sometimes we can feel left out, or second best when it comes to the motor :winky:
  17. I know quite a few 'metrosexual' men who are often late, just as you say! Mind you I'm not a drinker, in fact a bit of lightweight in that direction, which could be a good thing as I want to hang on to my liver as long as I can, tee hee! So your remark re 'wasting drinking time' doesn't wash Wasting time in general, though, does get my goat :duh: hahahaha!
  18. Yes, you're right, and I have been very glad of the helpful suggestions made when I've had queries - it just seems that you all take your cars so very seriously. Don't get me wrong, I love my Lexus, but it's not THE love of my life :winky: You're a great lot of 'blokes', I just think that some of you go just that tiny little bit OTT :winky:
  19. hmmmmm - well, for a start I'm a widow (so I can't even afford to sit at home all day enjoying myself or tinkering with my car); however, I do not watch Eastenders, Corrie or any other soap; I just work very hard! Who does the cooking, cleaning, laundry, ironing, looking after the children etc, etc in your house ??? Still, I suppose us females know where our menfolk (those of us who have a 'manfolk' that is) are, when they're playing with their toy cars :winky:
  20. 1. I would just like to say, as a mere female IS owner-driver, how useful and informative this site is. I hadn't realised how much there was I didn't know that I didn't know :duh: !!! The email topics are, mainly, really interesting B) ! However, I do get boggled from time to time and haven't a clue what some of you are talking about re the different add-ons, add-ins, add-anywhere's But - topics on cam-belts, tyres, batteries, RWD-driving and useful topics like these are invaluable, thank you very much indeed :) 2. I have to say that you 'blokes' do get carried away with all things mechanical, don't you ? Where on earth do you find the amount of time (and cash) that you seem to spend fiddling/tweaking/loving your cars :tsktsk: ????? I usually work about 10-12 hours a day, then go home and start all over again! I just cannot fathom how you guys manage to spend so much time on your 'toys'? I look forward to some interesting responses to this 'female-view' message
  21. beige ??.......is that a new colour for lexus !! Gold, Beige, champagne metallic. whatever you wanna call it, I dont want one :) Our transatlantic friends seems strangely drawn to beige. weird Why would it just be Americans who like a gold coloured car? I drive a gold Lexus, the unusual one not the 'gold gold' if you know what I mean, and have had many unsolicited complimentary remarks on the colour. I wasn't too sure at first but now I love it, and I love the beige interior too, though the floor mats need shampooing regularly!
  22. Hi - can any one help with this problem please? Just purchased new wiper blades from Halfords and they screech/squeak really badly when in use. I can't stand the noise when using them constantly and even in heavy rain have to use them on slowest mode (yes, I know it's dangerous). I followed the instructions for fitting, though they are not the most expensive (couldn't afford those at the time).
