  1. Thanks for this suggestion. No, there aren't any construction sites near here that I am aware of, but I'm sure we can get hold of some from somewhere. Thanks again.
  2. The AA man who came out last evening didn't try that, perhaps he didn't have them? Thanks for this tip, though, I'll have to see if I can find something similar and perhaps 'have a go' myself.
  3. Thank you so much, what a brilliant idea (obviously I haven't tried it, but will do now). Thanks again, keep your fingers crossed for me.
  4. Hi Everyone Can I ask for some advice please? I managed to very cleverly lock my (one and only) key in the boot of my Lexus IS200 yesterday, and so far even the AA chap couldn't get into my car! Apart from breaking glass has anyone got any suggestions (polite ones, please)? signed: Stupidly Stuck from Uxbridge!
  5. Definitely signed and also passed on to friends, colleagues and family to sign, too!
  6. I had this problem and thought it would be a major job to get CDs out, but after a few days of just trying the 'eject' button from time to time, they came out with no problem - the CDs just get 'stuck together' in there sometimes, that's all.
  7. Why doesn't anyone like the chrome? My car's auto and I love the chrome; think it looks more 'sporty'.
  8. WOW, you're a lucky lad, what a great dad you have, hope you appreciate him! Dread to think what your insurance costs are like! Enjoy your driving!
  9. You must be absolutely fuming! I've had cars actually scrape along my front and back bumpers - some folk need to learn how to drive!
  10. hi,welcome to loc. have you any photo's so we can see the problem :) Don't really know, but have you tried a light dusting, of talcum powder????
  11. Can anyone help/advise me, please? The wing mirror on my IS200 doesn't quite match the rest of the car, obviously it's been replaced in the past by a previous owner. Does anyone know where I could get it sprayed to match? (and by a reliable company). Is it likely to cost bundles of money?
  12. They do look very dark, and you probably know its illegal to have the fronts too dark, don't you?
  13. In the 'olden' days we had to pump the accelerator a few times to get a car to start. When you turn the engine over and put your foot on the accelerator it should start fine.
  14. It's a real nightmare isn't it! You pay good money to drive a decent car and get sh****d! I am not against trying to achieve a greener planet, but I think this is definitely just a goverment excuse to clobber us for more and more money (mainly to pay for futile wars). We are taxed on our salary, then taxed again when we buy anything, taxed again if we try and save, taxed again on fuel, taxed on air fares, taxed with death duties, taxed on buying a house over a certain amount; we are just taxed to death - literally! We are one of the most expensive countries to live in now and it is all incredibly unfair (and uneccessary, we are still a rich country without being taxed to death). I happen to be a widow and receive a small pension from my late husband's company, so, because of this I now have to pay the higer rate of tax on every single penny I earn, and also on the pension, because the pension is decreed 'unearned income' - I wouldn't mind so much, but it is a paltry £400 a month - I am hardly in the millionnaire bracket! Right, rant over, sorry folks!
  15. Try the AA, they are surprisingly good and will shop around for you.
  16. Proper dealerships (i.e. those affiliaterd to a particular marque, not just general 'allsorts'), are not allowed to let you drive off the forecourt without tax, and for them to do this they need proof that you have insurance for the vehicle, too. So you should get your insurance company to fax a copy of the new certificate of insurance to the dealership. They (the dealership) have to provide the MOT certificate. It is very strict over here and would be very costly plus points on your licence if you do not have all *three documents and current tax (*three docs: insurance for the car, MOT for the car, registration document for the car). PS: We are not all lads on this site - I am female!
  17. Make sure your key ring isn't resting on top of the car key itself when in the ignition - this will stop the engine.
  18. I think this is much nicer than the high one. I had a similar one on my previous Lexus.
  19. Hi I've had two Lexus IS200 SE's and they are brilliant! Used to drive Mercedes and wasn't too sure about the Lexus when offered one - now I wouldn't drive anything else. The first one I had never gave any trouble whatsoever. The one I have now did need new brake pads (normal wear and tear) and has sailed through its MOTs! Good Luck, whatever you decide.
  20. You may find that it's one of 2 things - 1) your key battery is running low, or, 2) there are radio waves in the area and are affecting those being sent by your key to your car. Both of these have happened to me in the past (and with a Merc Iused to own)
  21. WOW - what a fantastic car - love those wheels. Where do you get the wind deflectors from?
  22. Hi it looks nice, but personally, I don't like these additions or the spoilers - I think they ruin the look of a quality car. Sorry, hope I haven't offended you. It's only my opinion and I'm sure everyone else will disagree with me; especially the 'boy-racers' amongst us!
