  1. Hi Shye, i purchased mine last march and i have no idea what you mean by an alternative fuel certificate. first i have heard of them ! The Lexus dealer didn't mention any thing about that. Hopefully someone will know what you mean. Phil.
  2. Thanks chaps, went out this morning we had 3" approx snow last night, again no issues felt really good, have recentenly had 4 new tyres fitted ( Hannkook RH06 Ventus st 100v £104.00 each )) with a good tread pattern they seem to have good levels of grip so far ! Time will tell. Cheers Phil.
  3. Morning, just got back from taking RX400h out in a slight covering of snow, Felt really good with no spinning issues, but i have a question please. I was wondering wether there was any sort of snow setting/button, i had a snow button on my GS300 but can't seem to find anything inside the car or in the manual. But have just seen my local Lexus advertizing a RX400h with the phrase "get a grip this winter with the lexus snow mode" perhaps someone will be able to answer this question please. Cheers Phil.
  4. Great feature on the indicators sounds a good idea, the updated disc's i managed to get on ebay for a bargin £56.00 genuine Lexus disc's, there has been several posts on here regarding the disc's where you can buy brand new ones, but they are around the £150.00 mark i believe. I just kept looking on ebay and eventually a set come up at a used car dealer. Just type in "lexus sat nav disc's" you can check the disc numbers to see if they are the latest by going to the web site listed on here somewhere (sorry but cant remember what its called, if i find it will post on here later for ya) Found it, looked through this forum and found on page 7, see below. Right, if you go to page 7 topic listed "satnav Dvd update help? " there's a link on one of the reply's to the web page for the update disc's and info. Phil.
  5. Hi mate, i have had an IS, GS and now my RX400h and have to say is the best car i have owned. I dont believe there is a tank range anywhere as iv'e owned mine since march 2010 and haven't found it yet. Not sure what you mean regarding indicators ? But sat nav i replaced my disc's with updated 09/10 disc's and can now change settings whilst on the move where i could not before. I too had missing clips under the bonnet after it had been service and checked over by the selling main dealer (hatfield) but as i had to have the battery replaced only two days after i got it under warranty i asked my local dealer (norwich) to fit new clips which was all done F.O.C. I have since had all five wheels replaced by Lexus even though the car was 4 years old and out of warranty, I asked them if they would as they were showing signs of corrosion and they agreed !! I had to pay for one wheel as one did not show any signs of corrosion and i wanted all new wheels, great service so far i'm sure you will be well pleased. Phil.
  6. Hi All, had all 5 wheels changed today at Lexus Norwich, also had my new tyres fitted which i got for £104.00 each. The tyres which are Hankook Ventus ST are superb, nice and quiet and look good too. I removed the wheels when i got home and covered them in WHEEL GUARD which is a wax which protects the wheel against brake dust and hopefully corrosion and you leave it on for 10-15 mins and buff of to a superb shine. The wheels were actually refurbed wheels which i think will last longer than new Lexus ones and come as exchange units, so as my RX was 4 years old and out of warranty, for lexus to replace them i think was outstanding, not many other Manufactures would do that. Like i said before they agreed to replace 4 free of charge but i had to pay £100.00 + vat for the 5th as that was not deemed bad enough which it wasn't to be fair. So my advice to anyone who's wheels are showing signs of corrosion regardless if under warranty or not, it pays to ask your dealer to speak to Lexus. Phil.
  7. Hi mate, no bought the car used back in march 2010 from lexus hatfield, got 12 months used lexus warranty but that dosen't cover things like corrosion on wheels so thats why i was pleased as to the response i got from lexus. Just been told from my mate to let lexus only have 3 wheels as the fourth will be mine, so keep as spare just in case i curb one. Never thought but as they only replacing three then three will be sent back!! Phil.
  8. My 2006 RX400h was showing slight corrosion on the wheels so i took it to my local lexus dealer (Norwich) and pointed this out, they told me this was out of warranty and that they were not sure how i would get on trying to get new wheels. Any way they took some photo's and contacted lexus for me. I have just been told today that they will replace 3 of the wheels F.O.C. and the fourth do me a good price to buy from them. To be fair 1 wheel was pretty good still so they have given me a price of £165.00 +vat for the fourth wheel. So have told them to get that on order as far cheaper than me getting all four refirbed. Have sorted four new tyres today also for £416.00 lexus wanted £586.00. I think being that my car was out of warranty this is excellent service from lexus even though they know their wheels aren't great but i'm well pleased with this. Phil. :D
  9. I would just like to comment about the lexus road side assistance, i was riding my motorcycle home from work last night when i picked up a puncture, big honda VTR SP1 so hard to push the eight miles home, not sure what i was going to do, so i rang the lexus roadside assistance i got when i bought my RX400h back in march and told them of my problem. They were extremely helpfull and arranged for a recovery truck to come out and pick my bike and myself up and take me home. I know this is arranged by the AA but was still unsure how i would get on as it was a motorcycle. So a big thank you to every one who helped and would highly recommend anyone who has a bike to take them up on there roadside assistance. Regards Phil.
  10. Mine is the same, it makes some weird and wonderfull noises after key has been turned off. I believe in the hand book it says that these noises are perfectly normal. Phil
  11. Might be a problem with RX300 wheels not fitting an RX400h. The wheels on my '06 400h were due to be replaced under warranty because of the usual corrosion problem. I had a call from my local Lexus centre to say that the new wheels were in and that they could be swapped over while I waited. Well I waited and waited and waited until the service guy came and explained very apologetically that they had put my old tyres onto the new wheels but they could not get the new wheels to fit on my car!!! They said that the wrong wheels had been delivered so they had had to put my tyres back onto my old wheels until they got the proper wheels delivered. Anyway, the new wheels arrived a few days later and were sucessfully changed over. So I can't answer your question with a 100% certainty but I would definitely check further. Hope that helps JBP Hi JBP, i have noticed my wheels have started to show signs of corrosion, 06 RX400h 28k on clock, i didn't buy it new am now second owner, do you think i will be able to get a new set out of lexus ? i bought it back in march and got 12 months warranty, i was going to get them powder coated myself but if i can get a set replaced for free then it might be worth asking them. Did you have your car from new or dosen't that make any difference? Phil. Hi Phil I bought my '05 RX400h as an approved used car from Lexus MK in May 2007 when it was just under 2 years old. It came with 12 months warranty but when that ended I took out a 2 year extended warranty with them and they changed the wheels under warranty in June 2009. I have recently traded it in part exchange for an '08 Rx400h from Lexus MK. This also comes with a warranty until Aug 2011 and as there was corrosion starting on the wheels they changed them for a new set straight away. Hope that helps and good luck! JBP Thanks mate, great help, i bought mine from Lexus hatfield back in march and got 12 months warranty, had new battery under warranty already which was done at my nearest dealer Lexus Norwich, so may pop up there to see them before the 12 months is up. Thanks again Phil UPDATE: Phoned Lexus Norwich today to ask about my wheels being replaced under warranty, they said the car was registed july 06 therefore was now outside the three year lexus warranty and it would be unlikely to be changed free of charge, but said i could pop the car in and they would take a look, so will pop it in when passing, but dont hold up much hope. Mind you i forgot to mention that i had a 12 months lexus warranty still running :iraqi-info-minister: numbnut! So haven't given in yet. phil

  13. Hi Fred, i have had 3 lexus's now and think they are outstanding, i bought my 2006 RX400H SE-L back in march, it was up for £25,995 with 27k on clock 1 owner, the price wasn't negotiable, but they always have a margin, i managed to get it for £22,500 full tank fuel, bumper protector, boot liner, touch up paint, free delivery to lowestoft suffolk as i bought it from lexus Hatfield, oh and free baseball cap for my boy so if you dont ask you dont get, always plenty more out there. I generally get 33/34 mpg out of mine and have seen 38 on a run so not bad for 3.3 petrol. Not sure on the differences between the two models you listed sorry, but hopefully some help to you. All best Phil
  14. Hi mate, if you lift the floor covers up in the boot,( the larger floor compartment at front of car ) on the right hand side, on the side of the floor well there is a rectangular cover the size of approx the front of a radio cover, behind that cover is the sat nav system. There's an eject button on the front. I believe you need to have the ignition on to be able to remove the disc's. Hope this Helps. Regards Phil
  15. The system i have is what ever Lexus fitted, its the standard unit up front and no idea whats under the seat, what ever was fitted when imported new. All to technical for me, just needed a simple button to push, not sure when leads needed to plug here and there. Cheers Phil
  16. Thanks, thats why i couldn't see anything in the hand book then!! Phil.
  17. Just wondered if any body had a few answers for some questions regarding the in car entertainment system on my RX. 1.Can you play a DVD on the headrest screens and have the sound come through the cars audio system so every body can hear it. (ie, a music dvd with videos, so can be watched from rear and heard in all car) 2.Can a dvd be played in the rear and watched on the front screen aswell so the front passenger can watch it. Have had a quick look through the book but cant seem to find any answers, if somebody could help and if possible explain in idiots terms for me to understand that would be much appreciated. Thanks Phil
  18. Thanks bryan will bear that in mind. Still waiting for the hotel to get back to me to see if ok to have them delivered there. Hopefully be ok. Phil
  19. Spoke to local lexus dealer and they want £131.00 for a set of mudflaps for the RX. Done some searching and found a company in the usa who do them ( genuine lexus part ) for £68.00 inc delivery. Just 1 problem they dont deliver to the uk but will any where in the us, so as i'm off to New york in 4 weeks i have asked them to deliver to the hotel and they have said no problem and i can pay via paypal. Have checked part numbers and they are the same as here, 08414-48820. so have just emailed the hotel to see if ok and if it is, a saving of £63.00!! lexus.dealerfit.com Will let you know how it went in 5 weeks time.
  20. OK Mate, hopefully somebody on here will be able to help you. Phil.

  23. Hi there just got myself a RX400h SE-L 06 plate 27k on clock from lexus Hatfield, done me a great deal and delivered it all for £22,500. There service so far has been great, only had it two days but totally different to my GS300 i had. Have a small question to you RX400h owners, can any body please tell me what the row of LED lights do down the door pillar on both sides in the back, have not seen them do any thing as yet and wondered what they were for. Thanks Phil.
