  1. Lexus uk were made aware and the response was very disappointing to say the least. They were not interested in that I drove for 5 hours to Leeds and was there only 10 mins, I did get the manager of lexus derby phone me and ask if I would like them to find a car for me, which I declined as the one I had gone to see was poor and they wanted to find me one ! Lexus policy to display cars on forecourt as is until sold then do the work if required, that was there answer, no compensation for petrol or loss of time, never mind still bought one in the end from elsewhere.
  2. This seems to be a common theme with dealers, I drove from Lowestoft in suffolk all way up to lexus derby to look at a RX which they told me was excellent, when got there the battery was flat, had trouble even opening doors, been painted every where and was £22k. Also went up to lexus Leeds and was there 10 mins before came away another shocking car. Ended up going to Hatfield after putting down deposit and when got there asked for deposit back as was another bad example but they did do me a deal on a newer RX for same price as an apology, why they don't present cars in a decent way is beyond me.
  3. Hi there £40.00 +del+duty. Try www.amayama.com genuine parts direct from Japan. Have used them for gearbox parts and are excellent, duty a lot cheaper than from USA as well. May be of some help.
  4. Just checked my last three service invoices and My RX400h has always had 5w-30 synthetic oil fitted, seems fine and very easy to source at good price. Hope this helps.
  5. Agreed if you need them in two days not going to happen, but my parts were here in the uk after order placed in five days, I then had to wait for a poxy letter from customs to tell me how much duty was and how to pay, this took about seven days extra but it was over Xmas. But money I saved worth the wait, that is if you have another car to use in the meantime.
  6. I just placed my order and they came back to me with a price, then I decided to go with it and paid via PayPal and just a few days later all parts arrived in genuine packets , jap spec parts. 5th gear here in uk was £127.00, from them £59.00 exact same part.
  7. Try www.amayama.com based in Japan, genuine parts even cheaper than USA and duty charges are a lot cheaper than if importing from the states, believe me, superb service , saved over £250. Even with the duty and delivery on gearbox parts I needed.
  8. Don't know if you have it sorted yet but can't recommend enough ROYS MOTOR COMPANY in NORWICH Toyota and Lexus Specialist, been using them for over 25 years now, they look after my RX400h now, and father in laws Ls400. As matter of interest he had a full service done inc plugs, cambelt, and bill was £502.00 full service on RX was £210.00 lexus quoted me £748.00. Google and read reviews superb garage you can trust not to rip you off and do an excellent job.
  9. Just don't forget to allow for duty and postage, they will get back to you with a price and postage costs, postage calculated on weight from Japan and not value i believe, Then once you have a price you can go on google and use a duty calculator to look up how much the uk will charge. My eleven gearbox parts cost £34.00 for delivery, £64.00, duty. But even with them added on saved over £250.00.
  10. Out of interest how long did it take for the parts to arrive? Mike Once paid only took about 5 days to arrive but sat in customs for a week as it was Xmas.
  11. Just looked on that site at least 50% cheaper than here. Thanks for the link I ordered my gearbox parts just before Xmas and had never used them before so was a bit concerned, but have to say they were brilliant and all parts were genuine toyota in genuine packaging and like you say a good 50% cheaper than here, example was the 5th gear I needed was £58.00 from them and £128.00 from toyota uk ! For the exact same part.
  12. Don't buy from states get them direct from Japan. Www.amayama.com , genuine parts , great service and duty charges are fraction of what we get charged if from the states. I bought eleven gearbox parts for my rav4 from this company and saved over £250.00 on uk prices, and duty was £64.00, where as duty from USA was going to be £123.00.
  13. If you chaps are thinking of doing the job yourselves you might want to look at a company in Japan for your parts, www.amayama.com I used them for all my gearbox parts for my toyota rav4. If you know the part numbers of the OEM parts , you send them a parts list and they source them direct from manufacturer and are genuine parts.i tried getting them from USA but with our duty charges would have only saved about £20.00, from Japan I saved over £200.00 on everything which included £34.00 delivery and £64.00 duty. USA duty charges were£123.00 !! Alone. Took 3 days to arrive over once they got back to me with price, were held here at customs for about a week as was over Xmas but most of the parts were more than 50% cheaper than listed in uk. Might be of some use to someone. Phil
  14. Ok thanks for your help appreciated . Is there any chance you can send me exploded picture of the caliper with the part in question so I can print off and see if I can source one please. Don't worry if can't do just thought it might help.
  15. Fitted a set of front brake disc's and pads to my father in laws LS today, whilst doing them found one of the calipers had part of a metal slider missing. It's the part where the edge of the brake pad sits on.its held in place by a button head screw in the middle of caliper but half has broken off so pad doesn't sit as square as it should. Can anyone tell me if these are available to buy and if so does anyone have a part number or exploded diagram please. Sorry it's 1997 sept.
  16. I have had many wheels refurbed on toyota's and previous lexus, all were shot blasted and powder coated and lasted the time I owned the vehicles, father in law had his LS wheels done some 6 years ago and they still look good. Lexus replaced my wheels free of charge 18months ago with refurbed wheels and after just a few months these are corrodeing again, and my car sits in garage and only used when weather is nice and dry and then it gets cleaned!! This summer I will be having these refurbed myself , normally £60.00 per wheel. Once done right they will last.
  17. I believe but could be wrong but they are to do with the multimedia system , infra red remote control, I believe question has been asked on here before somewhere.
  18. I have had four cars where I had the wheels powder coated and have all lasted the time with no problems, I suppose it's who ever does iit which could cause a problem but the place I use have been excellent.
  19. Had mine replaced by lexus 18months ago with refurb wheels, already started to show signs of corrosion, I believe they get them wet sprayed refurbed and not powdercoated , had wheels powdercoated in the past and never been a problem after they are done, mine will be powdercoated in summer as don't think lexus will replace again as was surprised they did the first time as my car was well out of warranty. Powder coating tyres have to be removed to be done.
  20. Hi mate had four Hankooks fitted to mine 18 months ago and can't fault them ,find them excellent and at £104.00 each fitted good value. Phil
  21. Absolutely agree, have owned my RX400h , 2006 for 3 years now and have not put a drop in between services, would also be concerned if you need to top up!
  22. Ok , step one is a wash with a additive to remove grime etc, no need any wash will do. Step 2 is the wax polish, step 3 is a wash and wax. My bottle is labelled for the marine industry and has another treatment before polish, they have now relabelled the car range with the polish saying step 2. Hope this explains the steps, will let you know how it goes.
  23. Hadn't noticed it said step 3! Will ask the question, I also always used autoglym , but so far the finish with this is far superior, was told only need to wax once or twice a year with this and they do a wash and wax which adds protection when you wash. I like to polish mine several times a year so it will get a good covering, so far been a couple weeks and still looks excellent. Will let you know the answers I get and longevity .
