  4. Hey, Glad u like the new toy. know how you feel. I went from Shef to Weybridge to Brighton to Woking to Soho to Leyton and back home to Saltaire between Friday pm and Sunday Am. 'bout 800 miles in the dream but still got no radio working. have to listen to the sound of silence.... Ahh very nice. even cought 40 winks in her at Newport Pagnall on the way home. Enjoy the toy! come to france with us. See the latest post.... ;) Loz
  5. For those of u who have not reached 63k miles in your GS 300 yet DONT! the service is a cheap (cough, cough..) £220. Ok, can live with that. The timing belt change however, comes in at a staggering £540!!! What the F*** do they make it out of? Kryptonite!!!!!??? Sorry, will be having it done by a trusted independant garage for a reasonable £150... and that's the next two services free... Oh dear me, Lexus...
  6. DATA PROTECTION! Cant see Lexus giving me details of the previous owner as I could be wanting to go round and nick his new one! then where would they be when that came out in court! Aiding and abetting!! Not the best for their reputation I am sure you'd agree. Still I'll try it! the 01737 number right? Loz
  7. Hi again Claire, Seems like you have reason enough to be scathing about the brand. do u thin ku bought a dud or your dealer is the dud? Sounds like there are various standards between dealers. I have been to get my radio back on and it is proving a 'mare!!
  8. Okay Peeps, This is what I propose: Saturday 5th October Departure from Dover between 7:30 and 9am Ariaval In Calais and meet up with continental contingent Head toward the bubbles with a couple of stops en route ( after swapping mobile numbers in case convey gets split up) Arrive at Rheims and check into pre booked hotel. (one night stay) Spend pm in bars/restaurants Champers Caves... Sunday do Cave tours, Buy bubbles and leg it cross country to the coast in convoy with scenic stops en route. Head back to the ferry, back to blighty after food in Langan's Brasserie aboard the good ship lolly pop! Done! Loz :flaming:
  9. Alright then Playa, I'll bring you back a case..... Happy? ps, why don't you come along in your lexus? buy your own bubbles and enjoy the company of some like minded ( in some resepects at least) individuals...?
  10. Hi Vince, It's on as far as I am concerned! check the dates I posted and let me know it the 5/6th Oct works for you. I think it suits those with a month end pay day and the rest of us. Lets do it. talk is cheap and for the birds! Who are you gonna bring? how many and lets sort travel and Accomodation. I know a great chateau that a friend recommended. Great rooms from £40 to £100 quid and I am talking Lexus worthy! Come on LOC. Get 'em while their hot!
  11. Boy, don't you know that to buy in volumes smaller than a half case is to say to the world at large, "I know not where the game begins". Playa, Get your Merthilago (for those who don't pronounce euro-accents well) and try not to spill any Dom Pom on the way back!! Rgds, Loz :smug:
  12. Does anyone know how much the 63000 mile service on a 1998 GS 300 S is likely to cost? I was just praying that it was not one of those that requires £400 Spark plugs, £300 Belt change £150 oil filtes and so on.... Please say it aint so! Rgds, loz ;)
  13. Hi Claire, Glad someones up for it! Now all we need is convenient date and a game plan. I'm happy to sort it all out. Date will determin crossing costs but I bet late season ain't dear. How about we canvass for availability on 28/9 Sept 5/6 Oct (Pref) or 12/13 October. Dover departure. Maybe it would be as well to meet on the Friday night? for those travelling down from the north. then a morning crossing and nice drive cross country to Rhemes (spelt differently every time!) taking in the cathedral and a few rest stops... how are those dates working for you, anyway? Loz
  14. Is anyone up for Champagne weekend in convoy? DOn't know how much you guys and gals like driving but, there is a great run down to Rheimes (check the spelling) but they have Champers Caves that u can tour and buy a few bottles or cases... The food is great and it's a good long or standard weekend run from Dover. Anyone up for a cruise? I know u probly have folks that organise stuff but if I'm speaking out of turn, I don't mind putting my time where my mouth is and sorting it all out. Would be a laugh to see half a dozen or more Lexi roll off a car ferry into Calais and then down the Route Nationale to a suitable rest stop for a first taste of proper cheese! Let me know, Loz
  15. Just a thought.... I am new to this but would like to help support it as there are no free rides and all that. Will there be a list of dealers who we can get this discount with... If so is it published anywhere... Does the 15% relate to *certain* items only? Or is it across the board? is it 15% everywhere or at a select few and 1 % elsewhere for example? Sorry to sound an*l but Even though it's 5 years since Law School, I can't drop the bad habit of being thorough;) Loz :flaming:
  16. Hope when u put pics up u are smarter than me and remove ur number plate :?: Loz
  17. Hey! Karting sounds like a blast. I don't mind a trip to milton keynes, its home to a major client so a familiar route... Saturday or Sunday is fine. I like the Lex vs Honda thing... bit of a laugh.. think under a oner would be fair price given the oner in fuel bills to get there... is this still a live debate though?
  18. Perhaps the answers exist already but hear goes: Seem to get 280 miles from full to around a 1/4 tank. is that average for highways useage..? Anyone done a Gas Conversion on a GS300 and have any comments to help sway a choice either way? Has anyone got the Reversing aid advertised and how easy did it fit? (zero residual presence?) and does it match the Lexus look and feel? Any little touches ( glod badges excluded) that will make my GS 300 subtly stand out from the heard? Any good Retro Sat Nav options available? Cheers in advance, Loz
  19. Well Claire, I guess lexus is an everyday type of car and some people still need a little extra for the weekend. I just keep a rangy for bad weather and recreational use. I have an Ex Millitary Landy that I bought for off roading/mudplugging but the rangy is sooo good I barely play with it now. Only good thing is I took the roof off... Lexus ownership is enough for now. all other toys are on hold. Ps. What miles to the gallon do you get from that push chair??
  20. Hi All! Great warm welcome. The October meet sounds good. I would love to convoy down with you UltraViolet. On the basis I have no Idea where it is. Mine is a boggo standard GS300S in Atlantis blue and I am humbled by all these gold badges and fancy kits! I guess I like my car the way it is but would settle for bads that make less dust and maybe a tint on the glass although the standard reduces glare well. Seems we all have other toys as well as the Lexi... I have to confess mine are not fast, the fastest is a Range Rover so hope I wont lower your cred by only playing out in the GS....
  21. Shame about the Stereo thing... The previous owner on the log book is Lexus COntracts so as I say... not much good following them up. I am told the Stereo gets a code put in when it enters the country. Lexus then keep a hold on it. calling them now to see if they can help... Those gold badges are a cheeky if not cheap luxury. Loz :?:
  22. Guess I could do that... but the previous owner was .... wait for it... Lexus COntracts Devison. and they (through the dealer) say they have to send out a geeza to do the five minute job that is required.. Shame. I hope it's not expensive. Ps. You car is same colour as mine but the similarity ends there. I take it you like performance mods.. I wondered what would be worth doing to mine for enhancements? Any clues on where to start. GOld badges sound nice. are they a dealer fit? costly? Ade AKA Loz :flaming:
  23. My car is perfect except the radio says SEC. Short of a trip to the dealer is there any way to programme the thing.. Lexus Dealer lady ( fox!) tells me Lexus have to send a guy out to do it... Sounds expensive! Any clues?? Cheers, loz
  24. Hi! As a bank holiday treat I got my very own GS300 S in blue 1998 mk 2. I love it. tried everything from 740i to Mercs and then drove the Lexus. Before I had got to the garage to fuel it for a test drive, I was hooked! Anyone with a club social calendar in the North could get in touch. I'm Yorkshire based and would like to get in on the scene. Cheers, Loz
