  1. Took this great girl on a date last week. wound up heading down to Nottingham in the Lex.Nothing strange about that. But on the way home she got in before I put the key in so she saw the wheel moving into it's memorised position. "ooh! that's dandy" she said. Dandy? that made me wanna laugh but I really like the girl so I bit my lip and saved it for you guys. Cant wait to see her again, but might take the Rangy as its not so.....Dandy. Loz
  2. I have had the following: 318I 4door 320i 2dr 323CI 2dr 325I Convertible Not to mention... 280 SL Merc C180 C200 E220 Cabriolet CLK 320 Coupe The SL280 is the only one I would have over my current choice of ride. it did however, cost £58k nearly 5 times the cost of my Lexus... I think u get the idea! BMW coupes are fun to drive but slip slide and wallow abit. Mercs, nice steady drive, great auto boxes but handle like a transit van. Lexus: well the power is down on the T5 I had before but in every other respect, It Rules! handling is fine and the VSC confidence inspiring. the comfort, unsurpassed in its class. But then if u've read my reveiw or have one of these then you know it. Only downside? It says "toyota" on the glass. Loz :flaming::wow::o:o:P:?::?:
  3. Oh yes!! this old Chestnut. I have a chappy at work who drives a BMW520i SE. He had a trip from Sheffield to Bristol and back in My GS300 S ( entry level spec..;) ) and is now seriously thinking about a GS or IS as his next motor. Quote: " Got back in mine and it felt a bit spartan" ...." Yours is more.... Fussy" ... "Didn't realise how quite yours was until I got back into mine..." I'd never EVER have a 5 series over a GS300 SE unless it was an M5 but then I would have an LS430 over the M5. No Contest. One is a really ******* GOOD Car, the other........is a BMW... Simple. 4. the nidea is it would a set package. if we start pulling it apart it will wind up being cheaper and more practical to go back to organising it ourselves :( but I am still up for the orriginal plan. I just Liked that Porsche one so thought it would be worth seeing if we could blag something similar. On reflection I'm thinking that the original 2 day "informal" plan will work out best. But I am not writing anything off at this stage. I have FAITH IN LEXUS OWNERS to rally round and make this a great trip!!! :tumble: And if nothing else, I will not release any information on the health of nuts until there is a strong indication that 10 or more cars are going. (Need ten to get the blagged rate). So come one, come all, just blinking sort it and lets go have a drink with some crois de grenuille or however u spell frogs legs en France. Loz :tumble:
  5. Thats it! All the single lexus people should find love laughter or just plain happiness at the club OR this hotel!! maybe an excersion is in order? Loz
  6. THE 911 & PORSCHE WORLD TRACK DAY II From only £169 October 30 2002 After the success of the first 911 & Porsche World Track Day to France in July we are staging the sequel…..Track Day Two heads back to Croix in the French Autumn with the same great value mix of loads and loads of track time, strictly limited numbers and the opportunity for a touch of Duty Free shopping (early Christmas stock-up?). Have an exclusive full day session at a private race circuit þ Drive some fantastic sweeping back roads through the French countryside þ Relax with all routes being pre-planned and pre-driven with full roadbooks þ Return ferry crossings Dover-Calais þ Escorted throughout by the Porsche World team And all at an incredibly reasonable £169 per person (if you are a Porsche World subscriber). THE PLOT Leaving Dover early on the Wednesday morning it’s a quick thrash down the autoroute until we head off through the French countryside along some quiet and sweeping gatso free back roads to the private racing circuit. Incidentally, if you are travelling from some distance we can recommend hotels in Dover for the night before – just call us at Latebrakers. The Croix circuit (see circuit map above) hosts various rounds of French National Championships and even the occasional round of some British Series have been held at this compact and very friendly track. A fascinating mix of curves and bends plus a short but quick straight combine to make the circuit a great place to spend a few hours let alone most of the day and we have the circuit all to ourselves so you will have heaps of track time. Run off is plentiful and the track will keep you busy working out the most effective line through the sequence of hairpins and tight bends which certainly reward good technique. If you haven’t got your own helmet then you can borrow one at the circuit. We will have enough time at the track to cover over 150 laps if you and your car are up to it! At the track there is a café open for sandwiches, snacks, coffee and soft drinks throughout the day and the town of St Pol is a couple of miles away if you fancy taking a break from the track action and having a leisurely lunch. The track doesn’t close for lunch to maximize your time at the circuit and we will be operating an open pit lane so again you can spend as much time on track as you could really want. When the track finally closes it’s a blast back up the motorway to the Calais docks which is just 50 minutes away and an early evening ferry back to Dover. Of course you could stock up with the ‘duty frees’ in Calais or on the boat. COST INCLUDES þ Return ferry crossing for car and passengers þ Special rates for 911 & Porsche World subscribers þ Special rates for European based guests and those that don’t need the ferry þ Full day private track session þ All routes and road books þ Helmets available þ Safety and medical crew on site throughout þ Escorted from Dover and back to Dover by the Porsche World Team ‘The price includes the ferry but incredibly it’s still less expensive than a UK track day. Wondered if anyone would be up for this type of chinanigens? Loz

  8. we could do it in a day and it would cut the crossing costs by around a third down to £35 ish. HOWEVER, we would have less time in the caves and little or no time for scenic tourist activities. I guess if you have commitments you could join us for the day and then as we settle into our hotel/chateau, you could hot foot it back to the ferry and get a night crossing... I was kinda hoping that we might have a good get-together in a hotel bar or chic eatery and tell war stories or just talk about why we all have such exquisite taste in cars. could also be good for planning this cannon ball run jobbie too? loz
  9. Kev, If I keep a car three years it will See my ar5e for 150,000 miles. what about you. if u buy a 90,000 miler you won't want to be going to the moon and back in it will you? on the other hand, my gs300 is a 60k motor with brand new feel to it so I don't feel bad about killing it. My point is, it depends on what ur going to subject the car to in three years as to what probs u can expect. if it does 4 cold starts a day and never drives more that 10 miles per journey u can expect alot more wear than if its started twice a day and driven on a motorway in top gear at "safe" speeds. if ur a taxi driver u'll kill it. if it's for weekends it will last u a life time... Boy, I'm going on a bit here.. Buy the best u can afford. buy on condition not numberplate. Get it checked out if 10 grand is a lot of money to you. Other wise just get one as it wont dissapoint. One last thing. at a round 60k they mine has a 800 quid service. might wanna try and dodge that! Loz
  10. So do we think that this car is 23k over the belt service and still on the same belt?? Damn! Wish I had not just spent 100 quid on getting mine changed!!!
  11. Loz

    My new car

Are you associated with Great Universal Stores highly profitable CRM company? or was it just a coincidence? Loz
  12. Good News, Local Garage changing my timing belt for £100. all inc. half a day they need the car for. Did my T5 and it worked out just fine.. ;) Might stump up full shilling for the spark plugs... saved 261 quid after all. loz
  13. Yes it's the Saturday and Sunday. I Always get slopy when I'm typing in bed. horizontal is bad for thinking. Saturday departure early in the morning. if someone wanted to copy the itinerary from the previous thread I guess it wouldn't hurt.... (CG ;) ) Loz JM, lets whip up some shotguns to ride with us.
  14. Okay! Come one Come all!! The Pre X Mas stock up on beverages run to France is on!! Mssrs Russell and Lawrence will take point and look forward to being joined by as many of you who appreciate good food and wine in select company. For the rest of you: Get urselves down to Dover for a weekend booze cruise with a difference. All you Goldmembers! show some solidarity! Claire, hope you are bringing the family... ;) Red and Mojo, you up for a Leeds run down together?? Lets have a great Lexus experience. Loz
  15. December is the new date for the Bolly Jolly! Same rules but if we can get a better deal we will! sat am set and a sunday return with the booty! Game is ON!! c'mon people lets put some miles on... Loz
  16. What the heck were those plates trying to say? or was that the point. I had them made up to see if they'd look any good. better to risk £20 to find out the £600 would be wasted. as it goes I'm gonna sleep on it. thinking about R 4DY X or R 4D FU both cheaper but look it too... what is wrong with M L6XUS is it too much of a strech. Loz
  17. Dude, the cost of timing belt change is now £361 the spark plugs, £180 fitted and the service is a cheap one at £225. I have checked this out seriously thoroughly as mine is due. these prices are correct at September 2002. mine is 2k over due now but I aint worried as its a seriously good car and should have big tollerances based on their desire to build strong rep in the market place. Loz
  18. Cheers Andy, Migt make it anyway. As for testing the thing. I think 5k miles in 4 weeks is pretty well tested. I gotta get a cambelt but other wise I must say, VERY IMPRESSED! Anyone know if they run failsafe engines? The kind that don't bend rods when the belt goes. If it works in a fiat Punto then it's gotta be good for a Lexus... Welcome some tech spec on this... Loz ps. anyone think the plate M 16XUS looks worth having?
  19. As its soonest I'd like to be there andf catch up with you Lexus Loving crazies! So where is this "Beaulieu" and what is the meet? who's going? You know I saw 3 GS Lexus today... Getting a bit regular... Still I must have seen 30 5series bimmers so I guess I shouldn't complain. Loz
  20. I was working on the basis that there was NO entry in this thread. SO figured there must have been no meeting... When shall we have another then? And where? is the Meadow Hall meet with Food and shoping any good? Saturday/Sunday? that way those with partners or bin lids that need to shop can do so while we polish eachothers ego's talking Lexus gubins... October perhaps? or month end? Name it and shame it, Folk. Loz
  21. Hey there! Had mine since 24/8/02 and done 4850 miles in it! Love it. only been tired once. 480 miles in a day starting at 5:30 am til 5pm... Only challenge being the cam belt due for change real soon and looking for a sub £200 job on principle. Loz
  22. I think you meant £361 for the belt. I am going to have mine done outside the dealer network as It's out of warranty. My Volvo t5 was £347 at the dealer and £75 at a local garage.... Reckon the Lex might be not much more. but even if it is 200 quid it's worth saving the cost of the plugs! Ps. bet u can get those plugs cheaper or not change them for another 20000 miles. what the heck can go wrong with Spark plugs? Loz - Tempter of fait...
  23. Why don't we get a northern meet sorted out at somewhere like Harewood House, or Meadowhall TGI Fridays, or Madchester? Any clues, blackadder? Ps anyone wanna go snowboarding in Tamworth snow dome? Loz master of the unrealted links... :tumble:
  24. Blinking flip!! I'f I'd have know I could have got 26mpg out of an LS400 I might have gone for one. only thing is I know the sparkplugs are 40 quid a piece!! that scares me! Loz Ps. I'm such a cheapskate!:P
