Anyone with an SC430 should seriously avoid last sundays driving supplement in the times! It gave the SC430 a real kaning!! compared it to the Merc SL roadster and said it was a bag of spanners by comparision. to be fair there is a £15-20 grand price gap but for goodness sake! They are not in the same league. The SC430 is great for what it is and for £50k there are few nicer brand new cars. But the SL ROADSTER is a league above. the old SL would be a fair test but then price wise even that was excessive. Come on Sunday Times, Play Fair!!! Loz :duh:

I have roadside assist with Greenflag/Direct Line. never had a problem. they came out and took my Range Rover Dash appart when the Key got stuck in the ingition and would not turn.. I was 170 miles from home and they fixed it. took less than an hour. Impressed... Sorry if this is not what you want to hear... Loz

As I went to Law school I had it drilled into me that you read anything that might matter. as such I pick insurance based on cost and quality. AXA - not a bad way to cover yourself.... In True Loz fashion I have tested my car to distruction! Last sunday I had a gearbox problem it would not take 4 or drive and the R light came on if u tried. took it into Lexus and low, it turned out to be the gear selector switch. two days later and Just shy of 600 quid lighter I have a blindingly good car again. Not impressed that something so fundamental would go in under 70,000 lexus main dealer serviced miles... THought these were reliable cars :duh: ANY COMMENT??

Does anyone know if and how much a light conversion to upgrade a GS300 would cost. the new lights are sexier than the old ones obviously and as my car is on a no-dating plate ( I wont let here go out with the other plates round here! :( ) I thought I might chance my arm at getting away with looking as young as she feels... *lauging at Ricky's Joke* My Chairman used to have a GS300 Lex and he said it was useless in Snow. I reckon it must be down to the Traction and VS Control. All in all I eagerly await the first signs of snow.... Bring on the Rangy...... but not after a few doughnuts in the Lex!! :bounce::bounce:

Guess I am stuck with the Rangey then! When in the States I had a Mitsubishi Montero which is the 2002 model Shogun estate. Full leather and all the toys! it ruled!! Just could not bring myself to buy a mitsubishi when the british product is already in my possession and doing a fine job. must get some rear suspesnion bushes though.... cheap and cheerful off road fun. JM, in answer to what I use it for: Some mild off roading in quarrys and obstacle courses. Golf trips when there is a few of us. Snow boarding trips to Scotland in REALLY bad weather. General bad weather driving (cos I don't wade in my Lex) change of scene so when I get back in my Lex on Monday mornings it feels brand new! Fetchin' the sunday times, and if I'm feeling fruity, a sausage and egg sandwich en route! I really ought to invest in a pipe and slippers... Loz

Does anyone else get bothered by well meaning passers by enquiring about the trickle of fluid from under the hood if you sit with the engine running for a while? Keeps happening to me when I stop to take phone calls (no hands free so be safe and STOP the car!) And Now yoiu can all assure me that it is normal. I know this really since I was in the states when aircon was still rare over here, it shocked me too that all cars seemed to leak. Doh! :headbang: Loz:lol:

Very reasurring. only prob is I have a rreal struggle holding onto a car.... I'd love for the Lex to be the last car I buy in the next 3-5 years. Fact is I will be paying my Lex of in February and despite saying I'd keep it till 2004, If circumstances permit, I may well trade up to an LS400 or 430... I'm a doylem, I know, but I just love change and I love the wood rimed wheel and the fact that it's the daddy of them all. may try and curb it buy getting the RX300 to replace old faithful rangy. Okay, Now it's been said before that I have an obsesive complusive Dissorder but I maintain that there is nothing wrong with buying your Dad an RX300 and your Mum (who does not drive as such) an SC430. But I just have this thing about the family of Lexus. Maybe it's better that I wait it out until I can justfy having three myself. I think the IS really lends its self to the custom treatment. Only prob with this is that as they become more affordable they will become the donor car for some ALI G type project street pimpin' mobile.... Not really what anyone here is aspiring to I suspect. Need to launch a counter strike now and show pictures of John Major and Edwina Currie, Low riding in IS 200 Sports with phat rims and Liquorice tyres... Never really looked at the picture of your car Claire... But now I do I spot two things: 1) Can tell your in marketing cos you shot it from the ground to make a "larger than life" impact (don't say u dropped the camera and got lucky!!) 2) Is that Atlantis Blue, as in the same as the GS 300?
