  1. Thanks for that baz, I'll have another go tomorrow. The car is a 1993 The only thing left really is a popping sound from under the bonnet at cold (high) Idle. Also noticable when the a/c pump kicks in and the rpm increases.
  2. I haven't done that but am tempted now. Care to do a write-up the way you've done it? :)
  3. I've managed to fix the radio. It was the nut that had come off ( Thanks Steve :D ) Also removed the door card to grease all the lock related bits...unfortunately it's still the same. Fixed the seat belt adjuster and the passenger window switch as well :)
  4. I've also noticed a popping sound. More noticable on cold idle. I can't really see or hear any exhaust leaks under the car. Could it be the exhaust manifold or is this very uncommon to fail on the LS?
  5. you first have to upload your pics to a site as www.photobucket.com or similar, then click the 'Insert Image' button. You then get a pop-up window where you can paste the URL.
  6. Hi Steve, thanks for your quick reply. I'll follow your advise tomorrow. The door lock is kinda working with the remote, you can see the lock switch moving but just not far enough to lock the door. It opens fine once locked with the key
  7. Anyone who has read the Topic 'Potential new owner' knows we have our LS back :D In the 3 months she has been away a few problems occured :tsktsk: 1) The radio volume button is loose. It still sort of works but it's basically knackered. Has anyone had this issue and is it fixable? 2)The drivers door won't lock anymore with the fob. Opens fine. It locks fine with the key though. ..Is this just a matter of taking off the door card and grease the parts inside? 3) Passenger side window is not going down from the passenger side switch(does go up) but works fine from the driver controls. Clean the switch?? 4) Passenger side Seat belt adjuster not working. Faulty switch? Thanks in advance
  8. Thanks Sparky. A long white beard indeed. I don't really see the early LS depreciating anymore (for the fanatic) and seeing the LS has been on Mike & Edd's Wheeler Dealers as a future classic : it will increase in value over the years. I think..lol
  9. Thanks Thermo :D I have to agree, the only upgrade would be a newer one..lol I've tried a Vauxhall Omega, Volvo V70 & S70 and some others not worth mentioning :) but the LS is just in a different league. I intend to keep her till she falls apart :D
  10. Hi guys, Been a while since I've posted on here. Ended up selling the car at the end of January. However after trying out about 5 different cars after the Lexus I couldn't really find anything I liked. Until now! We saw our old LS up for sale and decided to buy her back :D Soooo here I am again ;)
  11. Thanks guys. I'll do the rear pads tomorrow and then give it a few days, see if it improves
  12. After replacing the front brake pads today (will do the rear tomorrow..) I find the brake pedal quite spongy and it travels more than before. I have done nothing to the brake fluid circuit except I took some fluid out of the reservoir because after compressing the brake cylinders the level was too high. Anyone have an idea what might cause this?
  13. Hi Mark, yes that's the one I'm hoping to buy :) So hands off every one :winky:
  14. Something totally different Does anyone know if an alternator from a '94/'95 Ls400 is the same as the one from a '93?
  15. What i meant was that by the time I passed my test most of them were already off the road. Only a few well kept examples were still around.
  16. No Chris, the DS was usually already a flinstone car at the time I passed for my driving test :D
  17. Has anyone tried, instead of replacing the O-ring, to use a stop leak additive from Wynn's or similar?
  18. Hi Barney, thanks. We've had quite a few runs in the Lexus now and she's amazing. Anyone has the part number and know where to get the power steering O-ring?
  19. It does have a very good ride but the room in the front is limited. I am 6'.6" and for me it is rather uncomfortable on a longer trip. The Lexus on the other hand has plenty of room :)
  20. Thanks Steve. I must say I am very impressed with the LS! What a smooth and powerful drive and sooooo quiet. We also own a Jaguar XJ6 and I always complimented that car on her smoothness but the Lexus is in a different league..lol If someone could post the part number for the reservoir o-ring, I would be very greatful :)
  21. Well, it's kinda hard to tell how much I paid for her exactly. I took her as a p/x on a Porsche 924 I restored this summer. Probably around £1100 I think. She was Taxed for 6 months and MOT till may '09 Is that a fair price?
