    Welcome and congrats on your purchase :) Not that much really. The LS is fairly bulletproof except for some common issues like a leaking power steering pump which, if unattended, can fry the alternator, check suspension parts (specifically wishbones and ball joints) as it's a heavy car. Fading displays...that's about it I think. I'm sure one of the others will jump in soon :)

    we have a Jag as well. The mrs drives a '89 XJ6. Nice car but totally not for me. I hardly fit it in it..lol I'm 6'6' and with the seat all the way back my knees are still at the steering wheel :D We now also have a Cadillac Eldorado. My first American car. Again, it's a nice car but nothing compared to an Ls. Too bad the Mrs won't let me sell the jag..I'd like to see nothing but Lexus on the drive

    You are preaching to the converted, old bean. Why not post something saying that the LS is the noisiest, most unreliable, poorly made old heap you have ever owned - and then see how many replies you get ! I have a pal with a Jaguar and he loved to ring/email, to tell me about how he fixed the latest problem (he was merely 'firefighting'). He doesn't anymore, because I have become so unsympathtic. haha Jellybean..granted :) Sorry for my ignorence:) Deliberite-sic- mistake? As in 'ignorance'...... Good taste in cars though! Ah yes Ignorance..my bad. I have an excuse though...I'm Dutch

    Every time I read this forum it makes me smile.. :) I have been on many forums and on most it's about unfortunate people with serious (engine)problems.. Here mosts topics are about (source from recent topics) upgrading Torque Converters, a question about brake pads, classic car insurance, lowering a Ls, someone about a key..etc..etc.. This proves how superiour a LS is compared to other (read lesser) makes. Keep it up :)

    If you have a cracked EGR pipe you should also hear it. I've fixed mine a few weeks ago (2 big cracks at the harmonica bit) and she ran a LOT quieter :)

    Umm..who is reading our pm's then? I don't think mods have access to PMs, but trading via PM is still not allowed. I know...driving faster than 70mph isn't allowed either :shutit: & I'm sure you don't drive over 70 No-one is reading your pm's but if a report was made and proof shown that someone was trading by pm then they could be banished forever :winky: LOL this really isn't find you a car is it Ruud lol Janey. I think I've already found an interesting car just before you edited his post :P

    Is anyone selling their mkII or III Ls400 in a few weeks? I'm currently working on a little project Cadillac, when that is done (about 2 weeks) it's going up for sale and I'll be looking for another LS again :)

    I don't think 10 - 20 miles a tank difference is something to write home about. The difference is that small that you can question if it really is the vortex saver. You'd probably get the same result when you drive the next tank wearing a pink hat :)

    Does anyone know if the Ls' top speed is limited? My guess would be yes as it seems you can get a lot more more from a 4.0l V8. Has anyone disabled this?

    I don't get it. You buy one of the quietest cars in the world and you wish to make it louder? I think the Ls being so quiet is one of it's best qualities along with the power and smoothness. Mine was also noisy when cold....fixed the egr pipe a few weeks back..quiet as a mouse again :)

    head gasket failure is very rare with these engines. I do have a similar issue with my 93 ls. No visible leaking at all but the expansion tank stays low when cold...If I fill it up to the cold (when cold of course) level she just spits it out(from the tank filler cap) when she heats up. Surprisingly the level is accurate with a warm engine just when she's cold the level is way below the cold mark
