Does anyone ever bother cleaning the underside of the car? Mine's covered in dirt..

That seems really good! I'm 24 with no no-claims at all and I got £680 from DirectLine but with my mum as the primary driver. How many years of no-claims do you have?

I think my idea is good, putting a discrete clear (or silverish) hard plastic ring around the edge of the alloy, it would stop getting the alloys kurbed to a large degree.. You could spray it to match the colour anyway. Can we get someone here to make 'em and sell it to us?

No I think you'll find it's me, I sent my cheque very late.. Which is a shame 'cos I painted my calipers last weekend was hoping to put 'em on this weekend Haha, my fault for not having a paypal account. Claire and I will sit in the corner with our dunce caps on :duh:

This is my first proper car, good parking will take a bit of time! Last car was a VW Polo that didn't even have hub caps hehe

Basically I had my car jacked up and I spun the LHR wheel hard with my hand, at one point around the each turn there was light friction with the brakes.. So for each wheel turn it would make a metal friction noise for a split second. I'm hoping this was only because the car was jacked up. Can somebody tell me what I should do please?

Was just wondering if there's a way of protecting the outer edge of your alloys (from curbing!).. I was thinking someone must sell like a clear hard plastic ring that would attach to the alloy via adhesive, as long as it was subtle it would be good I think.. Anyway, is there anything at all to protect your alloys? Off topic but I lost one of my locking wheel nut covers, any smart ideas where to get some?.. :winky:

I get a clonk and the gear stick in my hand feels a tiny tiny bit different. Tell us how your new recon gearbox feels when you get it Paul! I'd really like to know.

What annoys me about myself is I spent ages researching this forum on what to look out for when buying a 2nd hand... err3, poor alignment, wheel wear, pitted alloys etc etc But this awful gear problem I overlooked!! You know what else? There are a lot of experts in this forum, proper car mechanics, dealership people too... they haven't commented on this problem at all. Is somebody keeping a secret?

Hardly a new thing but just wanted to share my probs with the lovely people here B) Read some previous posts, seems like if I don't kick up a MAJOR fuss this 2nd gear klonk vill not get fixedhunt!! Ahem. Excuse my German. Only had the car for a week but it is 2nd hand. I noticed it 'cos I had the windows down, the noise is so loud! Anyway, hope an oil change will fix it......... but not looking promising Hehe. Bye4now. ps. Just to show the dealers who they're messin' with, what should I suggest needs fixing? Synchros? 2nd gear? Fly wheel? Entire Clutch? Entire car??? :P

hmm okay, well just checking. Honestly.. you shouldn't need to ASK to have a first aid kit put in, ESPECIALLY when there's a gap for it!! ;) Says to the dealer: "Yea my wife split her head open in the car and her brain popped out, no first aid kit so we didn't know what to do. Can I have a kit put in now please" :winky:

I was reading the manual to my IS200 Sport (W reg)... It says after setting the alarm by pressing lock on the wireless remote, there should be a flash of the lights after 30 seconds. On mine I get a flash immediately, that's it Also pressing the lock twice turns internal sensors off, but that's not relevant I think. What's going on?

Call me weird for wanting one but I really don't want my car covered in dirty acidic rain stains after I've made it gleaming! Plus I don't have a garage, only a driveway. Is there a particular type of cover to look out for? More importantly where can I get a good one? Halfords is the easy option, but I'm sure their range of covers is poor :yack: hehe Winter motoring > Covers > Tyvek large - http://www.halfords.com/shop/finditem.asp?...?cat=10⊂=135 Are there any good online shops you guys know of?

Just a quick post to say I finally got my IS200! After months of friendly help and advice from this amazing forum of people I got it! A big big thank you to all of you. It's nothing special, a W reg IS200 Sport in platinum silver, about 19K on the clock. Lexus Swindon were alright, not too forthcoming with the freebies but then the price was fairly good. I'm gonna go marvel at it. Thanks one last time!
