  1. You certainly took a risk without a service book being available, I have always walked away in those situations in the past! I went to do an MOT check on online yesterday as i forgot whilst i was at the dealers. But the dealer has blanked out the Number plate on the pictures on the Websites. So that will have to wait till tomorrow. Another GS300 has just come on the Market 40 miles away so i will be having a look at that one too. I have also been keeping an eye on IS250’s F sports that have come up for sale near me, they both have 30k miles on with full lexus history and both the same price but are at my maximum what is double the price of the GS's
  2. As a few of you may know dam currently looking at buying a GS300, I went to view a 2006 GS300 LE with 70k miles on the clock on Friday at a independent dealer, the car appeared to be fine at first. When i asked about the history the day before i got told it had a full service history, looking at the history i get told that the service book has been lost and the history is all paper work. It only had a couple of previous MOT’s, the so called history seemed a little vague at best a few invoices not what I expecting to see at all. I didn’t get the chance to take it for a test drive as i had the family with me, i have agreed to go back on wednesday to take a test drive, what i plan to do so i know that GS is what i am after and so that i can expand my search area to find the correct car for me. Anyone got any good tips what to look for apart from the normal?
  3. I plan to look at a 3rd gen GS300 LE at the weekend and on the advert it states that is a CVT, i have been under the impression that the CVT was only on the 450H and all others GS300's had 6 speed Auto?
  4. I was surprised when i found these figures myself, one of the threads online about achieving 40+ is off theIS forum and from the sounds of it the trip was a full on motor way journey.
  5. They are fairly steady, i have a nice relaxing cruise into work most days. The worst part is the 1st mile on the way and the last mile on the way home, which is a crawl.
  6. I would love a 4th Gen GS, but with a quick search on auto trader there is only 1 within my budget.
  7. After i managed to view a GS450H whilst i was working away last week, i still really liked the car, i have come to the conclusion that the boot space is just about adequate for me and my direct family once my son is a stroller. But it appears my mother in law wheel chair would be a squeeze. So now considering a GS300 or IS250 and there are a couple for sale in my price range and within the distance i willing to travel. The main reason i am now considering a IS250 is that i have found a couple IS250 F-sports with around 30k miles on the clock for a reasonable price and i really enjoyed my old IS200. The GS300 is 3 years older and with 60K miles on the clock for half the price. I have been doing a some research into them both, even though MPG is not make or break issue as i have had enough of my diesel, i have read that some GS300 owners have managed to get 40+ MPG from the 3L V6 what i think is brilliant for such an engine. I get that in my boring diesel Passat. I am now just wondering what MPG others are getting and the type of trips they use the car for. For example at the moment in my Passat usual cover's around 600 miles to a tank, with my daily drive to work being 10 miles, what 9 out the 10 being on Minor single carriage way A roads doing 50 and 60 mph, the other mile is stop start crawling and my weekend driving is very mixed, but mostly city driving i manage to get 40+ mpg to a tank.
  8. Very nice mate, i have been looking at getting back into a Lexus i had a IS200 before, i have been looking at the GS300 and GS450H as i like having a bit more space in my cars these days. But I recently found a few IS250 F sport with reasonable mileage, at a decent price and i am very tempted. Seeing how nice yours is i am even more tempted.
  9. I went with that idea too, but the nearest GS300 about 50 miles away and GS430 is over 100 miles. I have noticed sense Lexus shut the their own dealership and moved to the main Toyota dealer in Norwich. There is not that many 3rd gen or newer Lexus cars in Norfolk.
  10. Might have to, even if it means wasting someones time as there are not a lot of them for sale in Norwich Norfolk area.
  11. Guess the main measurement would be how deep is the boot. The width should be fine as i have heard it takes a few sets of golf clubs.
  12. There is one closer that i could go look at but that is a private sale and i really would hate to waste people time. The nearest one at a dealer is 68 miles away, i don't mind wasting a dealers time.
  13. Hi all, in a couple of months i plan to purchase a 3rd Gen GS450H. I have read a lot about the lack of space in the boot as it is only 280L, this is even smaller than my old IS200 so i know that my sons buggy won't fit, so i will have to wait until he is in a pram. This had thinking about the space that i actually need and use. Will the boot actually take my mother in laws wheelchair, as we take her out from time to time. Can we fit 4 suit cases in for when we go on holiday, they are not large cases, my daughter is small and we would use my daughter's old Trunki for my boy. I would love to actually go look at one, but the nearest one to me is over 60miles away what is far than i actually want to travel to just look at the size of the boot and judge for myself in person as it can be hard to tell from pictures.
  14. Only reason i asked was that on my old IS200 the alarm and head lights kept coming on. At first it wasn’t to clear to why, after while i noticed it was after heavy rain fall. The water was getting in at the bottom corner on the driver side of the front window screen, the water would then drop down on to wiring loom and travel along it using the capillary effect. It found it's way to the junction box in the drivers side footwell, causing corrosion on the contact what then would increase the resistance in the electrical circuit. It use to be a common problem on here when i was active member, most people use find the problem would start after having the window screen replaced, but i still had the original. Hopefully this information is helpful, if it continues after heavy rain fall.
  15. By any chance does it seem to happen after a heavy rain?
  16. My BMW had cream leather i loved it at first, but by the time came to changing my car i hated it. I love my black leather/suede of my old IS, i like the cabin to be a little dark. Grey would be nice, but i haven't seen one with grey interior yet.
  17. Mileage is not an issue for me, i only have two requirements, its not white and hasn't got a cream interior.
  18. i have been thinking about the gs450h for a while and its statements like above make me want it even more - im not a boy racer but feel i need a change now after driving the ls range for nearly 8 years. only think i can suggest is try to go for a warranty aswell for piece of mind I know what you mean, how he explained the torque from the car as seductive make me want one even more. I want to go back to petrol, be able to have a little fun from time to time but at the same time not be getting poor MPG. For example like a friend of mine has brought a new GOLF R, bloody quick but it drinks the petrol like no ones business. He loves the car but its costing him a small fortune to fill it up each time getting high teens and only managing 26 on runs. I brought a diesel for a the MPG, for a previous job that didn't work out. But i no longer warrant having a diesel as i don't do those mile anymore.
  19. Thats not to bad at all, still much better than my BMW the best i managed out of that was 28MPG but most of the time i was getting low 20's. Most my driving is on minor A roads, doing 50-60 mph for about 20 miles each day.
  20. Hi all, i am an old member of the forum, i use to have an IS200 what i loved and looking at getting back into a lexus. Sense my IS i have had BMW 3series 320I and i currently have a passat TDI. I am looking at changing car in the new year, i am currently thinking about going for a hybrid and the GS450H seems to be the car for me i should have about 12K to play with. So i am back on here doing some research. I have one question for now what kind of MPG people are getting in real life?
  21. One of the guys I use to work with had one and it was a very good car. I don't ever remeber him ever having any issues with it and it went well😉
  22. I do like the looks of them, but can’t afford one.
  23. Skoda did you just swear at me........... ;) i know they are VAG now, but i still couldn't have one. If i was to end up using the car for working on site, i would need a large boot space to get all the equipment and tools in. Plus the kids pushchair/buggy in. With this car purchase i plan to try and get as low milage as possible. I have had my large share of cars with high mileage, what isn’t to bad when you only doing a few miles a day and the occasional trip. But i wouldn’t want to be doing business miles in a car like that.
