  1. 2 weeks now from when i sealed off the widow screen, gromet and cleaned all the contacts in the fuse/junction box. Its been Working fine had plenty of rain in this period aswell relay didnt click away or the headlights come on and stay on. Today went to the car to hear that dreded sound "click click" the bloody relay was at it once again . We had a bit of rain last night and the outside temp did drop a fair bit. This issue is realy starting to annoy me, guess its back to removing the headlight fuses when iam parked any were for a period of time <_< . Was talking to my boss today about it and he surguested that i put some of those silcon gel packs in the area, to absorb the water and moisture. Am going to cover the cables in WD40 or some kind of grease. Has anyone else had any luck with this lately?
  2. Yeah its the same in mine, worse when its cold.
  3. Iam glad that iam not the only one who feels like this. Iam 26 and still get these kind of looks, its even worse on the days i cant be arsed to do my hair and wear my baseball cap. My mates just laugh and say it makes me look like a dealer when its just that iam being lazy.
  4. Hi guys i know this is an old thread but iam now having this problem with is200. I spent most of my day looking at this yesterday with the help with my old man and were both electrical engineers. The windsrceen is the orginal lexus srceen but the sealant in the bottom had completely gone, so we put some sealant in to reduce the water getting in. Have you guys sealed up the grommet were the cables are coming into the foot well? I was thinking of doing to reduce the water coming in even more. Iv got to go back to there today as its dryish so i can take the kick panel off and check the fuse box and clean all the contacts up and dry it even more as we had more rain here lastnight. My dad surguested we put another relay in the circuit going across from the ignition to the headlights, by doing this the head lights can only come on when the key is turned to on. Has anyone tryed this?
  5. What have people done to reduce the chances of this happing again? Iv read a few different threads on this now and a few people have sealed up the area were the cable come threw the blulk head?
  6. Looks nice, but i would'nt want them on mine.
  7. Well after a bit of a closer look, around the widesreen in the corner under the ruber bit there was'nt any sealant in there at all!!!! So i guess you guys were corect in saying the water is running in there and down the cables to the fuse box. For now i have sealed up the corner of the widescreen and now going to clean and dry out the fuse box! God iam glad that my folks have got a garage as it is ****** it down here today.
  8. Iam kind of hoping it is something as simple as that? I heading back round to my folks in a hour or and iam going to remove the fuse holder and fusing clean all the contacts etc. Checking to see if there is any water getting into the there at all, with the amount of rain we have had in the last 6 hours here it shouldnt be to hard to find hopefully?
  9. Morning all, as some of you may already know iv been having a few electrical issues for the last week or so. But for those who dont know it started about 2-3months ago when i had problems with one of my headlights playing up, not turning it was very intermitent. I solved this my finding i had some dirty contacts in the headligh circuit. Great think all thats done. ;) Then last weekend i had a issue with a headlight relay clicking what i found very annoying as it drained my battery fault so was able to take the missus to the bus stattion that morning! Anyway i give the battery a boost charge and decided to take it for a long drive to charge it back up. I have checked for water getting into to the fuse box and nothing seems to be in there? I did how ever find on a another web site that this issue can also be related to the alarm ECU, a transistor is know to go faulty on this board, the comon fault of this is the headlight relay clicks on and off like it would when the alarm is set off flashing its headlights. :o crap my wallet didnt like the sound of that!!! Simple solution dont activate the alarm!? <_< Anyway apart braking the key on tuesday the car seems to have been fine no issue's so happy . Went to the car first thing today and the relay was clicking away again, i could have cryed but the car started up fine and that might of Eliminated the possibilty of it being a ECU problem? i noticed that the battery indicator was sitting bang on 12V when i normaly sits on 15V, i was plaing on going round the folks later and putting on charge anway. it had been raining so i decided that i will check the fuse box once again later when i had finished doing a few other things what iv got to do today. I went to brothers after droping her off to pick up a few things, when i was sitting outside it started to rain ( more rain it threw it down) so i turned on the wipers and the dash board went mad!!!!! The ENGINE, ABS, SNOW, DOOR OPEN LIGHTS ALL STARTED TO FLASH!!!!!!!!!!! Oh god what has just happend? So i decided to go round to the folks earlier than i had planed to, lucky for me the old man was up. Put the car on there drive and took out the battery to give it a full charge considering that i only gave it a boost charge the over day. My dad opened up the battery and to check the acid, it was only a 1/4 full, he had some acid tables and de-ironed water on the shelve in the garage so we added that to mix and put it on charge. Iv got to go back round later to check the fuse box after its been raining, god i pray and i hope. That it is just something like water in the fuse box and the battery was low and needed a good charge? Has anyone got any good ideas?
  10. They said bad things happen in 3's! Well my third was today after i droped the missus off at the bus stattion, the enginge, snow, ABS, door open lights on the dash all started flash!!!!! Iv realy had enough of this now.
  11. Hello mate. Well it all depends on how you drive and what kind of roads you drive on, there not to bad MPG wise on a motor etc, around town they can drink a fair bit. I normal manage to get around 280 - 300 to a tank around town, i have once got 330miles to a tank. Hope this help.
  12. Its just the plastic shell on the that key but my spare is completely buggerd with no interals etc.
  13. Never get asked to show a gold members card, each time i just pay over the phone and go pick it up the next day or when its in? Guess i must be lucky in that case?
  14. Have you tried giving your local lexus dealer a ring, if you do rember to ask for a discount for being a Lexus owenrs club member and they normaly give me 10% off? I got mine straight from my local lexus dealer and paid about the same for it.
  15. Iam with adrain flux, at the mo and up for renewal in jan so il have to ask about that? Iv already bid on a replacement on ebay and it ends soon.
  16. Iv had enough this week and its only bloody tuesday!!!!!! Firtsly as some of you may have read monday morning flat battery on the car due to a ecu alarm problem! Got that sorted lastnight. Tonight i leave off work and the bloody keyfob snaps when i turn the key to start the car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now forced into buying new keys as the spare one is broken aswell. :( Whats next?????????
  17. After a bit of seaching online and on here. I have come to understanding that the problem is the alarm ecu!!! Which caused this problem.
  18. I knew that there was a chance that the relay could drain battery down and it bloody did!!!! So i wasnt able to get my other half to the bus station in time and got to walk to work today! Oh joy!
  19. Hi everyone, as a few of you may know i had a slight headlight issue which i sorted. Well i thoought i had!?? I had sorted so that the headlight works everytime. Well today i go to the car climb in as you do and could here a clunking sound. I was heading round to my folks so i decided to check it out when i was there as all my tools are there as got nowere to store them at my flat. I get there and turn off the engine and pop the bonet to find that the clunking is still going on. Very quickly i find that its the headlight relay, how anoyed was i ! After abit i find that the relay still clicks away when the engine is turned off, when the head light is turned on it stops, like it surpose to when the relay is closed to make the circuit. After looking at the circuit diagrams and playing around abit it seems like it could a few different things. There is a leak from one of the earhts which is supplying the relay with .5V to be acting like it is? Or the ralay has gone up the ****er! So that leads me to a few questtions? 1st what do you guys think? 2nd how much is a headlight relay? 3rd does anyone know were the earth is from the rotary switch?
  20. With these cars the eninge is normaly bullet prove so you should be ok. What sort of mileage does it have? These cars normaly have what most people call high mileage at the age area your looking at, but this shouldnt be a problem as long as there is plenty of service history and there are members on here who cars have around 200k on the clock. When the cambelt was done. Make sure it has a master key, which has 3 buttons. Apart from that its all the normal checks. If i have missed anything iam sure someone will let you know.
  21. I was talking to my mate at work who is a honda nut, he surguested that i should save up and get a Integra type R as its got the permance that i would want, its practical and good MPG? But what i found realy weird was i parked next to one the day before and was thinking how nice they are ;) . But to be honest i think iam going to have to wait for the missus to pass her test before i decide what to do <_< . Maybe il keep the lex as a family car for me and the missus to drive, well after she gets at least 1 yrs NCB first. Then i could have a 7sec car for myself, what i dont know yet??
  22. Saying that i just been on ebay and the GT4's seem to be better priced at the mo, i must have looked when there werent many at good prices. Just seen one which is cheap due head gasket going etc, could be a ideal project??????
  23. Well ormi you just listed some of my faverite cars mate! I had a mint MR2 mk1 before i got the lex, as i needed a more practical car after me and the missus moved in togther. I was planing on buying a MK2 turbo as a project car once she passes her driving test after 5 tests and iv got her a cheap practical car, so i can have a fun car again. But iam still beign a taxi and she hasnt had any more lesson etc. A GT4 would be good but people are asking far to much for them. I even considerd another mk1, putting mk2 turbo engine in it or 3L V6.
  24. Cheers ormi. I love the looks of them but i havent got round to test driving one yet and from you say thats all there good for the looks. Dont get me wronge i love the lex i just want another 7second and under car. I realy want a scooby but everyone i know who has owned 1 and from the all the forums i go on there know for piston 3 going and requiring a engine re-build?
  25. My worst car was certainly my 1st a cleo 1.4RT, what meet its end when i got hit by a BUS! My Best car my Toyota MR2 MK1 what i miss so much!!!!!!!!!! 96GS Sport, my mate is CRX mad aswell. There a great car.
