  1. Thanks for all the advice guys, iam going round my friends this weekend and going to have a go to see if i can fit there pram in the boot? That way i can have a educated look and make up my mind.
  2. [quote name='deckie77' date='04 October 2010 - 11:49 AM' timestamp='1286189342' post='734007' Cant tell you what to do tho mate it's all your decision, But if lugging a pram is going to be a prob then big hatchback or estate or jeep it will have to be i would say. Its true it is mine decision but some advice is always good from those who have been there before. I have considered a 4X4 jeep of some kind, my other half realy likes them but the majority of them drink even more fuel then any of the cars i have been looking at. To honest there all chelsea tractors if live in a city to me, but they are a good opition. Talking to my friend today and he said i should go for something like Galant VR4 estate or a scooby wagon. That way i get the power of the sort cars i have been looking at and i love for the times when iam on my own.
  3. Hello all. You maybe able to tell from the title that iam going to be a dad soon. I have a few questions for you guys and gals. I have been trying to sell my IS200 for the last 2months and been looking at getting a sports coupe (integra or 200sx) untill my girlfriend told me that there is going to be a mini me. So a coupe is realy out of the question now. I have a few different ideas what to do with my car: 1) keep the IS200, what leads me to my next question can i fit a pram and all the baby stuff in the boot? 2) Still sell and buy a cheaper salon? Use the money that is left to buy the baby bits and put some in the bank as time will be hard for the 1st few years. 3) Sell it, buy a estate due to the big boot for all the baby stuff. All my friends who have had kids in the last year or 2 have done this. Hopefuly a cheaper one and use the money for the baby stuff. I have been considering a Galant salon or estate and have been realy shocked by how cheap they are for a car that is less than 10 years old. I have always liked them and after driving my friends today Iam liking them even more. You can buy a decent 1 from 1.2k - 2K with around 90K - 100K+ miles on the clock. Have been also looking at the BMW 3series touring and A4 estate. What you think?
  4. Dude i hope that is it and that simple a free quick fix. I thought the same thing with mine mate and it seemed to work till the next lot of rain. If it happens again check the junction box in the footwell.
  5. Hello mate i had this issue myself last year after a load of rain! I think you will find that it is the water in the fuse/junction box, it wont be obvious it wasnt with mine. But after a help from the guys on here and more taken the kick panel off i found that if you unplug each of the each of the looms in the junction box. you will find that there is corrision on the pins and in the sockets and this is causing high resistance in the circuit making the Hazards flash etc. When it happened to be it also caused all the lights on my dash to light up like a xmas tree. Water gets in via the corner of the windowscreen, well that was were i found it coming in. Hope this helps.
  6. Dude i live in norwich and can have a look for you. send me a message if you want me to have a look
  7. try flush the brake fluid? Well that will be done with the service anyway. Like i said as iam doing a major service. I decided that i might aswell take the calipers off, might as well clean them up and paint them.
  8. Its almost time to do the 120k service on my IS200, just need to get all the parts and fluids. Shall do it on the first weekend iv got free and make sure its done before the MOT in AUG. The main reason iv posted this is that my brakes felt a little wooly the other day, so i checked the pads and disc them both seem fine. So iv decided to remove the calipers clean them up and change the seals does anyone know the best place to buy the seals for the caliper ram? Whilst they are off going to paint them gold and put some lexus sticker on them aswell. Hoping that with this small amount of work carried out shall help sell the car after the MOT.
  9. Hi all, as some people may know i had put my lexus IS200 SE up for sale the other month. To be honest i think it had a lack of intrest as it only had 3 months TAX and 4 months MOT. I knew trying to sell a car with a shortish MOT can be hard. Or i just had people thinking id let it go for peanuts, iam going to keep it for a bit longer and try to sell again with 12months mot in late AUG. But iam still going to keep an eye out for the sort of car iam after maybe as a bit of a project but the money iv got saved for that will most likely be used to buy the other half a car for work, after all that was the main reason i put it up for sale.
  10. Just sent you a PM, with a link to my ebay ad mate.
  11. Dude does it have to be a black sport? As i have my SE, with a sports grill in Granite sky (gun metal), up sale at the mo.
  12. Well its now on pistonheads and ebay. Its just a waiting game now.
  13. I must agree with you the turbo is the only way to go when looking at MR2 MK2's, the NA is a bit sluggish due to its power to weight ratio. The mk1 is the best way for handling and great power to weight ratio. But i think iam going to go for a CRX, after speaking to my mate and looking at the boot space u actualy get aswell. Just need to make my mind up on either the 16V or VT engine as there isnt much difference in performance or MPG. You just get a few extra goodies and a slighty different front bumper.
  14. I am considered a MR2 mk2 turbo (tubby), drove my uncles tubby that was mental! Great fun. I would love to have 1 but the only problem with an mr2 is the lack of boot space. I know the missus will have a hatch back but i dont want to rely on her if i buy somthing to big for the so called boot. If i was to have a Celica it would have to be a GT4
  15. Hello all, hope every one is well, as i havent posted on here for some time now Anyway i am going to be putting my IS200 SE up for sale very soon, as my girl friend has just got her self a new career as a trainiee social worker she has always wanted a job in this field. Which means she doesnt need to get a bus to work everyday, but she needs a small practical car to get around town in. But she doesnt have the money on so to buy a car at the mo, but being the good boy friend and lover that i am :winky: :) ! I have decided to sell the lexus use the money from that to buy her a small practical, cheap to run car. This does mean i can get a fun car once again which shall put a huge :D :D :D. on my face. B) So iam cosidering for myself: Toyota MR2, i know these cars very well after owning a mint mk1, my dad owned a mk1, my brother having a mk2 and his ex had a mk3. Honda CRX, i mean the old school mk2 shape not the hairdress ones you see around now. love them but have never owned one. My friend neil is CRX mad. I have learnt alot about them from him, so think i shall being cheaky and ask him if i could have spin in his? VW corrado, 2L 16V or VR6. Fell in love them when a friend of mine owned one a years ago. But dont know a great deal about them. I have joined there forum looking information on them. Would like people's opinions on these especialy if you have owned any of them. The good and bad points of owning them and so on. After typing this up first thing morning iam now running late for work, good thing its a friday!!!!!!
  16. hi all, my car is due a 120K service in the near future. What needed doing for a DIY serivce apart from the norm? is it a all fluids changed in 120k service? Rear diff oil changed?
  17. I know this is common mod with the honda and some of the toyota guys. I almost done it to my old mr2and i think it looks great if you use oil cap as the centre of the sun.
  18. Hi everyone, havent been on here for a bit hope everyone is well. just wondering does anyone on here work off shore or have in the past. What are your thoughts on the overall job of working offshore. Iam 26 and have just applied for a couple of trainee off shore jobs. One is the oil and gas industry. With the standard two weeks on and two weeks off. The other is on a off shore wind farm. With a four days on, four days off. Iam a electrical engineer with my qualifactions, have also been trained in house in the Mechanical and hydraulic side of engineering. I spend half my week in our electrical department and the other half in our hydraulic department. So i guess you can say iam a Electrical, Hydraulic engineer. I know i have only applied for the jobs and not realy holding my hopes up as these jobs as they highly competitive. Just wanted a few people opinions.
  19. I renewed mine on sat, insurance has gone up in the last yr or so. When i got my is200 over a yr ago it cost me £380 fully comp 2yrs NCB with adrain flux. When i got my letter in the post it had gone up to £520 with 3yrs NCB. With a bit ringing around the best quote was with SKY £420, so went back to adrain flux and they droped the price down to £402. To be honest iam little miffed that its more than last year but still not a bad quote. So i would recommend adrain flux, sky and chris knotts is also a good one.
  20. hi new666uk. i found the gap under the rubber corner bit at the bottom, the sealant had completely gone in this section!!!!
  21. The only thing that i dont like is the lack of power, so in the summer iam selling mine for a car with more power, i want another 7sec or under car. If the lex had better power i think i would have it for life.
  22. I had this problem not so long ago. With the headlights switching them self on and draining the batt I had to remove the fuses everynight what was great fun. Anyway i done a few cheap easy repairs and things are fine now. I started by putting some sealent around the gap of the window screen. Then cleaning the contacts and plugs on the junction/fuse board in the footwell. It worked fine untill we had a huge down poor and it started again. So i had to stop the water getting in, i done this by filling the gormet up with sealent and spraying the cables with WD40 to displace the water. Its been fine now, fingers crossed.
  23. Rage are one of my faverite bands of all time. I hope they do make it to number 1 for xmas and give simon a big F**K you i would do what you tell me! Nedsram13a how on earth have you not heard of this track!!!!!!!! If you like it i realy recommend downloading all there albums, they are one of the most influential bands of all time, very political and as the name says they did rage against the machine that is the USA goverment and the world. I still wish i had the chance to see them live, i tried so hard to get tickets to see them live at reading or leeds the other year but couldnt get tickets!
  24. Yeah straight forward to replace as everyone has already said. But the passenager side can be a bit of a pain due to the placement of the screen washer filler, but it is straight forward.
