  1. It's hinged at the back and an alarm sensor in behind it from memory. Use a thin piece of plastic to undo it.I removed the whole unit then converting the interior to LED's.
  2. This link may help (it's a US site, but will give you an idea what is done). https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/info/my-lexus/service/maintenance-schedule.do Also note service records are transmitted once at the end of every day to Lexus if they fail for any reason they will never be re-transmitted and they have to be inspected at the servicing dealership, I had a missing service record and had to ring the Dealership for confirmation.
  3. I don't go to the main dealership just to get the dealership stamps with the age of my car it will add very little to the resale value. My car has done 71K and as others have said better value could be found at independent garages. However for me it's all about respect, trust and good service, the dealership treats me fairly and explains exactly what needs to be done at a reasonable price. If the price is too high I can simply walk away but I have never had to do this. At the end of the day it's personal choice but for me I'm happy to stay at my local Lexus dealership.
  4. The £159 deal is interim I think the Major is £100 more and the books get stamped.
  5. I have a similar age car/mileage and I get the Lexus Essential Service plan which is £159. I have a good relationship with the dealership and they suggest any extras needed at the time of service.
  6. I think it's 100 Mile limit and a charge for every mile over but this may vary at each dealership, just make sure you check the small print.
  7. Have a read of this thread. Read the attached pdf this may work but note it is a US site so may not work on Euro specs. Otherwise its a trip to the dealer or buy a Techstream cable from ebay for £20 and do it yourself. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/71465-unlocking-all-doors-on-walkup/
  8. You can purchase on-line on the following link. You have a Gen 05 unit you just need the number from your current DVD. http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/
  9. Nice to see the Lexus is growing on you and you can now use the boot release :-) Can't comment on the lag as I have an auto/petrol but I'm sure other members can.
  10. For boot release you need to hold the button for a few seconds it's not instant. That caught me out. This can be changed at a dealer to single, double or long press (default).
  11. Thanks for the confirmation Gaz the reset is simply to force the firmware update and not normally required. When you inserted the new disk did it load a new firmware by any chance? Program destinations on the move has been on the last few years disks not specific to the 13/14 edition.
  12. Thanks bluenose it's the 13/14 that may have the 'I Agree' removed previous versions all have the 'I Agree; at startup
  13. Glad the power cycle did the trick and the new firmware is installed. You can be assured the firmware has been read from the disk as the removal of power resets the unit. The mark II IS with DVD satnav is a GEN 5 unit. We just need confirmation from another member with the disk that the 'I Agree' has or hasn't been removed.
  14. That's the US version so may be different. Can anyone else confirm this that has the 13/14 update?
  15. If you used the link above it is delivered from the UK at around the same price. Yes 32-bit only as the driver does not work on 64 bit.
  16. BigV try changing the battery anyway as it still may have a trickle charge to keep the settings even though it doesn't work.
  17. Cheapest one from UK here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-SHIPPING-Single-Cable-for-MINI-VCI-FOR-TOYOTA-TIS-Techstream-V8-10-021-/151169951104?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item23326e6580 I have seen clips from you tube with this running under Windows 7 so assume it should work. Hopefully this could be confirmed by another member on here.
  18. I don't have the 13/14 version so can't confirm the removal of the 'I Agree', hopefully another member can confirm/deny this. I think this will be unlikely but I stand to be corrected. I upgraded from the 2006 version to a later version with the set destination on the move update and once I inserted the disk the firmware update screen appeared. However if you have purchased the car from someone that had the 13/14 and changed this back to the 2006 version on sale then the firmware will remain and no loading screen will be shown. To check this try and set a destination via touch screen when the car is moving.
  19. Upon inserting a new disk the sat-nav checks the disk for a new firmware release if the firmware is later than the one you have a loading firmware screen will appear (this is obvious). If the disk is not genuine then an old firmware will be present as newer firmware checks the disk is not a copy and fails to work. Try reinserting the disk to force a check. 06/07 to E18 defiantly should force an update. Last resort is to remove power to the sat-nav via fuse or battery disconnect, note this will wipe any stored settings and updates to the firmware so after 30 seconds reconnect and this should force an update to whatever firmware is on the new disk. The I Agree screen can't be removed however E18 firmware will have the ability to set a destination on the move. Hope that helps.
  20. You can use Toyota Techstream software to see how many keys are registered to the car and try and add the additional fob. You will need to buy the cable and software from ebay (Mini VCI cable for around £20) There are some videos on youtube showing how this is done. However if the fob is registered to another car I don't think you will be able to do anything! Alternatively a visit to a local dealership would be able to confirm this.
  21. SE-L with Multimedia is the one to go for. The SE-L is the top of the range and is rarer than the other more common SE models. The Multimedia pack was around £3,000 extra from new and adds upgraded audio system (DVD and extra speakers) sat-nav, Bluetooth, and reversing camera so well worth it when purchasing second hand. The SE-L from memory gives Walnut inlays, memory seats, Dipping mirrors, heated/cooled seats but plenty of other threads in here detailing the differences. 50K is nothing on these cars 100K plus then expect price drops as exhausts etc may start to need replacing (expensive to replace), but still 100K is fine. Auto is always the way to go on these cars as the tax is cheaper! plus the auto box is fantastic. As Creo states expect 30's on local runs and 35 plus on runs (not the car to get if mpg is important). Hope that helps.
  22. I had a similar problem with missing service details on the Lexus database. I have reliably been informed that the synchronisation overnight sometimes fails and it will never retry again and the details can only be retrieved from the dealers system. I'm afraid your only hope is getting them directly from Lexus Plymouth.
  23. My 56 plate 60K miles had a sticking rear caliper and was replaced FOC this year. They have to send them back to Lexus for checking and was told that hardly any are refused but there is a chance the replacement may be rejected. If in doubt call another dealer.
  24. Not the salesman and referring to the new IS220/250 not sure which year they came in (last year?) but the ones with the indicators on the wing mirrors and the alloys look completely different to my 250 SE-L standard fit alloys. Maybe its too early to tell but lets hope they have fixed it. Again not that this helps everyone with the old style alloys. Would be interesting to here from anyone who has these blistering problems on the newer models.
  25. Interestingly my dealer informed me the other day that the newer type alloys on the face lifted IS220/250 don't suffer the blistering issues that the older ones do. Doesn't help the ones stuck with the old ones mind, but obviously a fault in the manufacturing process.
