  1. i didnt know you had to get your break fulid chnaged every 20.000 miles. intresting observation. thanks guys.
  2. i had the same problem (not the wheels getting hot) it turned out to be some corrosion/rust and getting inner wheels brushed fixed my problem. worth getting it looked at. would not cost too much either.
  3. I had the simmilar problem with my old BMW 3 series. try to get your bearings checked out. the problem i had was bearings had to be re allinged or something ( i cannot remember fully) this could be somehing serious. try to avoid main rolads and stay under 40mph just to be on the safe side. where are you based. i could recomend a good garrage if you like.
  4. Lol. I used to work there too. Where exactly in Birmingham are working? i have a mixture of feelings about this thread. i am sad that the owner have all these problems. i am very happy however that it has complatly changed my mind about converting to LPG.
  5. sound advice. do you know how can i check my gear box oil? is it something that i can do or have take it to a garage?
  6. For sake of £50 i would get the OEM ones. if after market belts breaks when you are motorway, you can write your car off completely.
  7. Hi, Very quick question about IS200 SE gear box. Does the cold weather effects the way gearbox operates? I know by default design, the gear box is a bit hard to use and it is not as smooth as it can be. This morning after driving less than a mile down my road, I found quite difficult to change gears where the gears didn’t go in place as they should. Eventually, after releasing the clutch, the gears started work fine. Any ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hi ormi, can you use any sump plug 14mm or does it have to be lexus precipict?
  9. Hi i have the same problem. when you are around can you fix mine as well? :winky: let me know
  10. engine light is on yes... but could all the symptoms mean the cat needs replacing??? if that is the case have you got your clutch cheked out. if you have high rev it is possible that gearbox and clutch is not disconnecting and therefore you get high revs and jerking could be the reason of clutch is holding to your gear box and letting go again. worth a while to get it checked.
  11. i think they are the right parts. why dont you give lexus a call - most of them will let you know what parts you need (with the part number) when you give your registration number. thats what i would do. other wise just take it to a local garage. should not cost you more than £250-£300 inculuding fitting for the belt and may be another £200 for the pump. again just ask around. i know it is pain in the neck when you buy a new car and trying to get good quality parts for it.
  12. how many miles has the have done so far? does the metal scrapping sound coming from the front or in the middle of the car?
  13. i have that little sound coming when i start up in the morning for like less than a secound after than it is just fine. i think it is realted to cold. when it is it get warmer it will be just fine.
  14. Hi all, Couple of days ago, I started to smell something like very badly cooked cabbage like smell from my car and I concluded it was my clutch. This was the second time Since then, my clutch feels very soft and funny, especially when I put my foot down, it goes right down (like it is not holding anything) than it was use to do. Today, I have taken it to a garage and asked for this problem and the guy said I might have cooked it (I assume he means it’s gone) It does drive fine and it is not slipping yet. A local garage asked me about £630 (all inclusive of VAT and labour) for a replacement original Lexus OEM clutch, 4 new brake pads, and new gearbox oil and quoted about 6 hours of labour. (Hence there was only £40 difference between aftermarket and OEM so went with the original part) Does the price sound about right to you guys? As this is my first time taking any car to a garage I really don’t know if that sounds about right. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  15. try to clean the pipes. if you go under the car and put your hand up towards the bumper, you should see water pipes, tyr to see if they are blocked or something?
  16. funny thing is i disagree with you all. i like trc and snow mode on. i feel a bit more secure i would say. maybe i do take the corners a bit too fast. i will try on the way to home as my work's car park still have ice all over. lol
  17. actually i have the same problem with my passenger mirror. on some occations, when i close my mirrors, the passanger wing mirror doesnt want to come out again even the driver side is opening fine. i think it has something to do with the motor inside where the theeths which moves the mirror are getting a bit wonred off. when i give i a bit push it works just fine. if you want to get it repaired it will proberly cost you about £200-300 from lexus. i much rather give it a bit push.
  18. an how to would be perfect - please PM me when you finish it.
  19. i might tor to get the leds myself question do you have to get two sperate HID kits for full and normal beams (one for full beam and one for dipped beam) please advise.
  20. it might be wise to change your power stearing fluid as well - it is a cheep option and see if that will help out. should not cost more than 20-30 from hardfords i would have imagine.
  21. i think it of keeping this car untill it is scraped!!! is200 is my first car and not really looking forward to chnage it. if i do i will get myself a 4x4. either rx400h or audi q7 or land/range rover
  22. try to be carefull, as it is plastic you may breake it and if you do it will cost your anywhere between 100-200 to get the replacement one from lexus. lol will look my book tommorow myself
  23. i get about 400miles our from a tank - it is allways depends how you drive . for exmaple i dont press gas when i am taking off. i allways roll the car about 100cm (1m) before i hit the accelerator and use it very gently. i also go watch my mpc meter and try to keep it on 40mpg. for example, i try to go up to about 50-60 and let go off the gas. this drops down the mpg meter to 80miles per a galon mark. i then try to find this small point on your gas pedal as you pust it down and try to level it up to 40mpg it dos take alot of practise and once you get it right you do get about 400mpg. tip every time you fill your tank, try to reset your miliage counter. for every 1/4 of a tank you should get anywhere between 90-105miles if you are gentle.
