1. Lexus LS 400 94L £42860.00. My 97P cost £47,050 and the 1st owner had it 3½ yrs and 43,ooo mls, sold it privately for £16,2000 to the 2nd owner who sold it with 118,000 mls and all Lexus history and I bought it with 123,000 mls in October 2009 for £860.It passed its MOT in November after some time and money was spent on it. The forum appearance was OK as it was so we'll just have to get used to it. I hope new members aren't put off.
2. I just know I'm ultra thick too .............. but we must all be not so, coz we all own a LS400 ( I guess ), and that makes us probably the most astute of car owners ! Can anyone tell me what the LS400 cost in 1994 ? Would be nice to know how much deprecioation previous owners took on the chin for me to own my beautiful monster. Thanks guys. Malc
3. Are the springs colour coded?. When I changed a broken one on mine there were blue painted bands (3?) on the spring and the replacement off Ebay had the same blue bands and I have DHP wheels on my car which were on when I bought it.
4. Stevels400 I didnt take the panel off, just popped the top corner and used a very small socket set with universal to undo three bolts. Steve2006 I didnt know how to remove the trim and window controls so your link is very useful. Thx to all. The MK2 motor and connectors are different to theMK3, so its a replacement mirror coming from benfur. I'll post a couple of pix later when I get the new mirror.
5. Thanks for that. I've got the mirror off and will swap MK2 good bits to my MK3 mirror, I hope. Pity about the legal implications as SaabScene still display diagrams.
6. How does the trim come off the inside of the door frame to access the mirror bolts. It looks like it snaps off but do I start at the bottom or middle top. I need to mend the mirror as it only moves one way. I dont want to damage the trim, are there any screws hiding behind the rubbers etc. I'm going to try it tomorrow. Thanks in anticipation. Where have the diagrams gone from toyodiy.com/parts?. I used these to help replace the shockers.
7. http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy70/39buss/LexusSnow013.jpg[/img Saturday 9.00am. Jan 30. Looked out this morning and somebody's put the Lexus back in it's igloo. It snowed on Dec 17 and cleared on Jan 18 in which time I never used the car. After this it started with a bit of a struggle. Still, pretty pleased with that. So, the other day, decided to charge the battery and get it ready to use. One day soon perhaps!!.
8. It started snowing on Dec 17 up here so the car has looked like its been in an igloo all that time, till yesterday. Today bleeped it open and it started after 2 or 3 turns, ran it down the street and parked up with a smile on my my face. Pretty pleased with that.
9. Leave the Lexus in the igloo and use the Swedish Snowmobile Saab 9.5 Auto
10. I have a MK3 and fitted a Bosch Super Plus 22S 550mm/22" c/w wind deflector £11 from local auto shop. They changed the rubber in the passenger side for a couple of quid. Result; quiet and smear free wipers.
11. The red plastic bits are where the base clips in and they are very tight. I used a big flat screw driver to prise the seat up. 2 of the 3 top shocker bolts are easy to get at but ease up the parcel shelf slightly and you can get a ratchet in and then its easy with your fingers to undo. There's a cap that comes off first and then the shocker bolts. I cant remember now but if you loosen the hub bottom fixing (tapered joint?)with the jack under and drop it enough to allow the leg to come out without the need for spring compressors. BIG TIP buy a complete leg with spring. I got mine from benfur This is a MK3, hope it is of some help. 3 bolts in top seat back, fold down armrest and look under flap and 2 under flap when the headrest is removed. 4 bolts hold bottom of seat back, which go through rear bulkhead, so there may be a rust issue if they feel tight. The bottom right corner of pix shows retaining clip so lift seat from front and pivot it back to release, being careful not to damage heating wiring. Sorry to confuse but I haven't got the hang of photobucket yet or quotes and replies. If you scroll through them, there are descriptions to match pix but not in the right order. Too many pix and I'm only clicking once.

17. Steve. that a proper detailed engine bay. you put me to shame. from the picture in your main details your lexus is an L reg like mine. Unbelievable. How do you start to get things looking so good? Sorry to highjack your posting Bus39 but you have got to agree, thats a sweet looking engine. If this works......hurray I've faffed on for ages but eventually managed to get an image up. I've never used Photobucket or anything like it before so will try to put images on in order, but not tonight. Your car looks really good. How long have you had it for? I've had the car since Oct.20. All the parts I want have arrived from benfur but at the moment cabined up with the weather. Steve 2006. Thanks for info on photobucket but still struggling with it. Uploaded photos to it but not having any success getting them on LOC. nitmoi. Man after my own heart. The car needed pads all round as it would not have passed its MOT, so they were changed and every thing cleaned and greased in the right places on re-assembly. Back to photobucket. 17" DHP wheels were refurbished and partly paid for by Lexus as good will gesture for previous owner and were on the car when I bought it. I didn't realise they weren't standard until I looked on here.

22. Thanks for those kind words. I 've taken a few pix and will need to find out how to post them. Today I ordered bonnet struts off ebay after checking the 'Toyodiy website' for compatibility. Someone posted a link to this in an earlier topic so thanks for that, its been a great help. I'm busy pulling a MK2 mirror to bits to see if the guts will go into my passenger mirror as mine only works one way at the moment. I've got 17" DHP wheels with one centre cap missing, I could do with new discs and brake pad wear sensors so if there's any out there I would be interested. None of the heated seats work but that wont bother me yet. I feel I've done enough, it needed doing rather than me wanting to do it. Taxed it today so will start to get some enjoyment out of it. I've fitted a pair of bonnet struts from a GS300 off ebay for £18+p&p. I checked 'Toyadiy' and the numbers were the same and less than half the price of LS400 struts on ebay. Where do they get their prices from. When they arrived there is a slight difference in length but they fit ok and hold up the bonnet. I need a N/S/F head light as mine is holed, still looking for discs and busy with the mirror. Need to find out how to post pictures.
