  1. 10w 40 fully synthetic not recommended?
  2. Guys, i want to change the oil on my is200 this weekend.. as i want to avoid the tappets tapping...some mornings it takes a few seconds for the car to start...possibly the oil getting to the engine.. mechanic said an oil change will be good to avoid any tappet issues..is this correct? finally what is the best oil to use... - firstly best for the longevity of the engine? - secondly to avoid tappet issues? thanks in advance gents..
  3. guys, i hope everyone is well.. this saturday gone i had my cambelt changed along with the waterpump... all is well but i have noticed when i start the engine..i can hear a 'hissing' type sound coming from under the bonnet..upon closer inspection its coming from the belts... i didn get this before the cambelt change.. is this normal when a new belt goes on? fyi i did get the idler and tensioner changed too...all OEM parts... any thoughts?suggestions? could some wd40 anywhere help? its not an issue or anything but i remember my mate commenting when i bought the car how quiet it was and now the hissing.. is just annoying.. all thoughts/recommendations appreciated :-)

  5. but i thought being canbus compatible was better as this would mean no electrics issues? so having no canbus means .. more likely to get electrical issues if there are some compatibility differences?

  9. Hi Ive been filling up through the plastic bottle, from this im presuming that maybe i should be filling up through the rad cap.....??? i never realised that i should be filling up from there. would this make a diffference and caue water to stop circulating. You must must must fill the main radiator up first 2-3 litre then fill plastic tank Wot part of kent you from, phone me 07917 596896 may be able to save you a big garage bill b4 recovery truck gets to you Phil, i,m from dartford may get round to you later to help Thats nice of you Phil - good man... always good to see people prepared to help others.... good Kama mate :winky:
  10. the impression i got was smartwave does not want to expense for a cambelt change.. and if the belt does snap then rather than repair and spend ££££ he will just get a new car.... i could be wrong
  11. How much was yours Deckie? i like the idea of a sat nav in the double din.. would make life a lot easier ..but tbh.. when your driving is it not a bit of a nightmare as you have to take your eyes off the road and look down to the screen?? cheers fella
  12. why wide tyres are worse than narrow? I believe I have seen somewhere that the contact surface area is the same in both occasions. "Imagine driving on to a glass road and looking up underneath your tyres. This is the example contact patch (in red) for the situation I explained above. The narrower tyre has a longer, thinner contact patch. The fatter tyre has a shorter, wider contact patch, but the area is the same on both." Sourced from http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html i think a Corsa prob has a better chance of getting through the snow than a Lex... its because the narrow tyres cut through the snow.. where as wider ones cover a bigger area and so i guess its harder to rip through... if that makes sense
