  1. I filled my car up last week at my local Shell station and half way through, I realised that I was filling with Shell V Power instead of the normal (E10) petrol by mistake. £1.65 per litre! Never mind I thought, at least I will see a boost in fuel economy I thought. Nothing of the sort. I am averaging exactly the same economy at around 39mpg with this fuel as I do normally on my commute. So, in my opinion at least, ignore the hype that surrounds the so called premium fuels, as they seem no different to the standard fuels, other than in price!
  2. I too had to have a replacement windscreen during Summer last year due to a stone chip which developed into a small crack , which the Autoglass mobile fitter could not fix. I was concerned that Autoglass would not be a viable option due to to the need for screen alignment etc. However, I cannot praise my local Autoglass depot (Darlington) highly enough. They did a first class job and fitted a genuine Lexus screen together with brand new trim etc. They had all of the necessary equipment to realign the camera etc and I have had no problems at all since. This was all completed in about two hours, and all I paid was my excess of £75. In short, I would not hesitate in allowing Autoglass to carry out your replacement.
  3. Just read that Lexus are now going to extend the warranty year on year on all cars free of charge for for up to 10 years or 100,000miles , providing that the annual service is carried out at Lexus dealerships. See Link: Lexus warranty - how Lexus Relax cover works - Lexus UK Magazine Sounds too good to be true?
  4. Hi all. I bought and use this: CPLAY2air wireless adapter for factory CarPlay on CARPLAY2air.com – CPLAY2air.com It does exactly as it says. I have been using it now for several weeks and it works a treat. I have a wireless charger in the car so all I have to do is put the phone on the charger and the phone connects to CarPlay automatically within about 15 seconds with full functionality. £95 well spent and highly recommended, although I am not sure if this works with Android?
  5. The update takes at least 3 to 4 hours so the dealers are well within their rights to charge and £80 is very reasonable in my view. The fact that maps never need to be updated makes the upgrade real value for money. Google maps are updated every day for free.
  6. I paid £75 for mine whilst it was under offer before Christmas. However it costs £95 now, but still well worth the money in my humble opinion. Here is the link: https://cplay2air.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImLSdjrvX7gIVuIBQBh17RgUkEAAYASAAEgL7xfD_BwE
  7. I finally managed to have carplay installed yesterday at my Lexus dealer (Teesside). They had some issues with the install and had the car all day, but all in all a fantastic job done by them with a loan car thrown in, and all for £80 including VAT. A bargain in my view, particularly considering some of the horror stories I have read on here with people attempting self install with very mixed results, and at worst a system write off that is not covered by warranty. I have since married CarPlay to a Cplay2air wireless system and it is fantastic. Automatically connects when I get into the car and no wires required. Fantastic system and so easy to install. Highly recommended.

  9. Having plucked up the courage to try myself, I am not able to even start. I have prepared the 3 memory sticks as per instructions and updated my maps to the latest version. However, when I insert the first (blue) memory stick at stage 4 as advised when on the map page, I see the message that the stick is being read, and wait the 5 seconds or so, but nothing happens, despite several attempts. Am I missing something obvious?
  10. Unfortunately he did not know what the pricing will be. I also expect it to be around £80 though. He also did not know anything about the update until I mentioned it to him. He has checked with the people at Lexus and has confirmed that it is coming but not until October, as stated earlier.
  11. I have just been advised by my local Lexus dealer (Teesside) that it will not be available to them until some time in October. Training is planned for their staff in the coming weeks, and they are also advising to NOT try to download yourself, as somebody in Spain has just wrecked the system in his car and it is not covered under warranty. I am going to err on the side of caution and leave it to the experts.
  12. Well I am very pleased to say that Autoglass did a first class job with my replacement windscreen. They have fitted a genuine Lexus screen and the camera alignment etc was all carried out and tested without any issues. All my worries were happily, unfounded.
  13. Thanks for all the replies. I spoke with my local Lexus dealership today and he has reassured me that they have not had any issues with past replacements carried out by autoglass, so i feel a lot more comfortable with this and all of your comments. Booked in for tomorrow so I will give it a go.
  14. Unfortunately I need to have a new windscreen fitted to my car following a stray stone causing a crack that Autoglass could not fix. I am booked in to have a replacement screen fitted by Autoglass in Darlington on Friday. They tell me that they can do all of the alignment for the camera etc, but does anybody have experience of Autoglass doing this in the past? If so what experience did they have, and were there any issues following the replacement? Unfortunately my insurer will only cover the first £50 if I use an unauthorised repairer (eg Lexus Teesside), but cover the whole amount if going to Autoglass.
  15. Lexus customer services have just advised me that it should be available in September, and I also believe the cost to be around £80.
  16. Have you considered a service plan with your local Lexus dealer? They provide them interest free and spread the cost over the term of the agreement. I pay around £30 a month for three years, and this includes all service and parts costs plus my first MOT, which will be due next year as mine is 2 years old. I've had these for each of the four Lexus I have owned and would highly recommend.
  17. Lexus will supply printed manuals on request. I had the same when I bought my NX and on contacting customer services, I received the hard copies through the post.
  18. Interesting to know, but not something I would want to happen to me!
  19. Well my charger arrived from Amazon yesterday and I am happy to say it does exactly what I expected it to. It fits snugly onto the tray inside the centre console and my phone sits happily on top whilst being charged wirelessly from the unit. The unit comes with a short cable that I will keep plugged into the USB port, so no need for messing with fiddly cables moving forward. I do intend to upgrade to apple car play once it is available to us, so even if this is a wireless system, I will still not have to plug cables into my phone each time I want to use it. Very happy at £29.99 and delivered free
  20. Having scoured the market, I have just ordered this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DDDP1S9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hoping it will do the job for me and if so, a very cheap fix! It offer wireless charging for a very reasonable £29.99. I will let you know how I get on.
  21. I am thinking of this, but I don't want cables all over the dash, and cannot find one that suits fitting into the central storage box where the genuine Lexus unit sits. Failing this, I will probably just stick with the cable charger.
  22. Does anybody know if it possible to retrofit the wireless charger within the armrest of my 2018 NX Luxury?
  23. Thanks everybody for the replies. Just to be clear, I only ever use Duracell or equivalent batteries and my Lexus dealer fitted new ones to both remotes during the last week in January and already the system is telling me the battery level is low. I have never experienced this with any other car including all four Lexus models I have owned, and have never had to 'turn off the remote' at the end of each day. My car is and has always been parked in the garage, so I have not changed anything other than my car! Seems like I will need to follow your lead and get in the habit of switching off at night 😞
  24. I seem to be having to change the batteries on my remote far too frequently. In the past in each of my previous cars, I would expect to have to change the batteries around once every couple of years or so. My NX remote needs new batteries approximately every 2 months! I am doing nothing different with this car than any other I have owned. Any suggestions?
  25. A simple Google search brought this up: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254449226769 I would expect any local fitter could sort this for you?
