  1. Got another replacement today and all looks well so far... apparently, the previous screen was not sealed properly in a few places and the plastic casing that sits on top of the windscreen and under the bonnet was not fitted properly.. i insisted for a genuine one to be replaced, but it was replaced with a pilkington OEM version and national windscreens was saying that pilkington makes the glass for new Lexus vehicles.... thanks for the suggestions everybody
  2. Lexus Croydon quoted £765.00 ... thats just Outrageous... just made me think why did I buy a Lexus... Lexus Guildford quoted £570.00 ... Lexus twickenham quoted £640.00 ... Lexus Reading ... £480.00 booked it with Guildford lexus because its closer than reading... but that still steep ... any dealers out there in the club in London and South East who can do it for less
  3. I asked for it to be replaced by a lexus dealer... but the contact number for replacing windscreens on my insurance document always puts me through National windscreens.... However i now have a new issue after the windscreen is replaced the engine is can be heard very clearly inside the cabin .... sounds smooth and clean ... but not sure why the sound started to enter the cabin ... as if the engine bay and the cabin are connected with some hollow pipes ....... any thoughts on this????
  4. Thanks for the information ... i will keep an eye while the windscreen is being replaced... and again still a general doubt ... do windscreens crack if the snow is not removed for a long time ...
  5. I had to leave my IS250 SE-L at the heathrow long term car park for most of december. When i returned back from my vacation and cleared the frozen snow (there are cars out there which still have snow lying on them... surprised it still did not melt away completely) found a crack about 15 cms on the wind screen... although i cant feel the crack when i run my finger across it, its clealy visible that there is a crack... i called up my insurance (lexus insurance) and they arranged for a replacement windscreen with National windscreens... because i never heard of national windscreens before and that my car has got rain sensing wipers and quick defrost etc and i want to be sure that all these work after the windscreen is replaced.... can someone suggest me the things to looks for when the windscreen is being replaced... and finally do the wind screens crack if the snow is not cleared for a long time....???
  6. Haven't got a pair yet but from videos I've seen they look pretty straightforward to put on. They are perfect for our weather over here, as you can keep them in the boot without them taking up any space, and just stick them on if you get caught out by some sudden heavy snowfall. I got the snow socks last year for the RX8 and they work well but they dont last very long (40 miles after which they started fading away)... so got to remove them everytime we hit a clean piece of tarmac .... They are relatively easy to put on and off ... but everytime you drive and had to remove them they are wet ..cold... dirty ... so not worth the hassle ... i am happy with adding weight in the boot ... homebase does 25Kg sand for £1.50 .... two bags of sand and 25kg bag of rock salt (£5.00) and a spade ... the snow socks are good only when the snow is fresh and on ice to an extent ... not good if the snow melts away...
  7. Mine is a manual and its slightly dipped on the passengers side ... although if its concluded as standard on all manual IS250's .....i would say thats the worst bit of design engineering not being able to adjust 2mm on a panel for such a lovely car... i am surprised jeremy clarkson did not notice and point that that when he reviewed the car ....
  8. Its the same engine with minor modifications. it goes in these toyotas if you are interested... # 2005-present (Toyota Avensis D-4D T180 or D-CAT) # 2006-present Toyota RAV4 D-CAT # 2007-present Toyota Auris 2.2 D-CAT
  9. is this the dip you are talking about... i thought the standard fit itself comes like that ... any comments??? Image
  10. Why would they just do the rears and not the fronts? All cars have that small level of tint and it's all round, never noticed the rears of an IS to be darker than the fronts to be honest. Well thats what I thought when I bought the 250 back in May. But its only under certain angles during the daytime you would notice this difference.... check the pic5 on the below link .. shows a litte dark rear than the front one... Used IS250 its also mentioned on the equipement list for the all specs IS250 on the lexus website.... and always a bullet point for all the approved used IS250s under the comfort and convinience section ... "Why would they just do the rears and not the fronts?" True ... not sure why they dont do the fronts...doesnt make sense
  11. It all depends on the level of tint we are talking.... but all IS 250/220d come with standard "Tinted (green) rear side and rear glass"... its specifically for UV protection and Heat insulation... thats what makes the rear glass look a little darker than the front ones.,...
  12. All IS comes with Green tinted glass as standard for all windows except the front ones... check the below link.. details all equipment levels Equipment list for IS250
  13. Well, the article on the pressroom says "Owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail beginning in early November 2010. Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the brake master cylinder cup with a newly designed one at no charge to the vehicle owners."
  14. Mt IS250 is on the list. I believe its all IS manufactured between 02/2003 and 11/2005 rather than registered between those dates.. A colleague who as 06 Reg is also in the list. Lexus will use the VOSA's database to contact the owners whose cars needs this recall...
  15. I would buy the GS450H SE-L for that sort of money...... both are equally good in terms of refinement... but the GS packs a bit more punch...... but i prefer the styling of the IS over the GS.... and according to few other posts i think you can get a brand new IS for £25K... mind you, the insurance on the both the cars for a 21 y.o ...... Recent stories Not a Joke News however you dont have to worry if you are the one who
  16. Hi I checked the settings and sound distrubution was more biased towards the rear ... to be precise the Front/Rear distrubution line is in the centre of the rear passengers seats... more over i never touched these settings... i was surprised when i was returned back to the car after work the sound is not like the way it was in the morning ... but it doesnt look like that i can sort this out myself without paying a visit to the dealer. i am about to book with Lexus Guildford to have this checked...
  17. If several speakers have gone silent at the same time, it's most likely a fuse (check them first), an amp or the head unit. The new car warranty covers the audio system, of course, but for an approved used warranty, you have to check the terms. I checked the terms, apparently the audio system is covered.. I will have to check with dealer and get this sorted out... thanks
  18. The sound clarity/ surround effect of the sound seems to be gone on my car's ML audio system. i can still play audio video dvds and radia satnav all seems to be working well... but the sound effect seem to have have gone ... i feel like i am listening asda's own brand stereo player.... all the sound effects appears to come from the speaker on the centre ac vents on the dasboard.... and all the other speakers just produce little effect. i have a read a thread about the ML sub woofer or amplifier being blown.... is this something related to that ? how can i check this if everything is ok... or its just me who got tuned listening to it over a period of time ... apparently, the car is still under warranty (Approved used) ... i hope the ML is covered under the warranty appreciate your views and suggestion on this ... thanks in advance.....
  19. I got Toyo Proxes T1Rs XL (extra load) (225/45/R17 for the front, 245/45/r17 for the rear ones - standard on my IS250) fitted. They are very quiet and comfort is also ok. Having driven on M25 between junction 11 an junction 9 (noisest bit ot road in entire UK I guess...cemented instead of tarmac)... I could really notice the difference in noise... toyos were much quieter than the dunlops or b'stones.. i got them fully fitted for £453 .. the cheapest i could find ... the rear ones seem be rare camskills does it for £430... but you need to get it fitted somewhere
  20. I filled up the IS250 with 58 litres on 1st May @ Sheffield where i bought it when the range showing as 30 miles... filled it up again yesterday with 48 litres when the range was shown as 84 miles .. and i did 331 miles between both the fillings... 184 miles on Motorway and rest in London suburbs ... now you do the maths ;) :D :P
  21. Another quick question ... After a quick motorway way blast when i entered london, the seems to be pulling well from 30 even in fifth gear... is it ok to crawl around in 5th gear whilst doing 30..my old diesel never had any problems doing that because the amount of torque it had,,, or what is recomended gear when doing 30?
  22. Drove all the way to Sheffield from London this morning to part exchange my 06 Mazda 6 with a IS250 SE-L in sargasso green. fell in love with it within the first 300 yards i drove it. i was playing with all the toys on it on the way back .. a couple of questions though could anyone mastered all the voice commands perfectly .. :winky: i couldnt hear the exhaust note no matter how much i revved the engine.. all i could hear is a smooth engine revving .. is that the case with all the 250s?
