ok .. Howmanyleft is now updated with stats for the GS250 ... apparently 100 cars have been registered in the UK in Q2 2012.. http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/combined/lexus_GS250 and considering about 30 of them are on auto trader for sales from dealers.. and 30-40 might be still as demonstrators over the country ... there might be upto 30-40 odd currently owned by private owners and company cars...

News About New Is
ironrose replied to ironrose's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
to me the best bit is the side profile ......and worst bit is the rear end.. specially the bumper ... -
The article just got posted on autocar.,.. apparently a coupe planned for the third generation ... cant wait ... i quite like the look of the coupe... http://www.autocar.c...d-paris-concept from the looks of it the hybrid engine might be picked up from the ES in the states.. 200 odd bhp ... i hope they make a slightly powerful one as well..

Tyre Pressure
ironrose replied to Exdee's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I keep the front ones at 36-38 and the rear ones between 38-40 depending on the season and the type of usage..... 32 sounds way low on the R17s Optimum pressure table should on the door pillar when you open the drivers door. -
Winter Planning

as long as the rolling distance is same .. you should be ok ... other wise you will need the speedo to be recalibrated.... you can check the details here http://www.club80-90syncro.co.uk/Syncro_website/TechnicalPages/TRC%20calculator.htm -
I too noted that the new IS250 only revs @2000 RPM whilst doing 70MPH as opposed to my 55 Reg IS250 Manual @ 2500RPM for 70 MPH. Anyway, I just did 840 miles in the long weekend mostly motorway including the notorious M6 traffic jams averaging 63 MPH and i managed to achive 43Mpg, it could easily beat 50MPG if I was bit more gentle on the throttle at stuck to 60MPH.... tyre pressure was at 37 and 40 psi in the R17s

I live very close the Lexus/Toyota UK headquarters in Epsom Surrey. I can a number of new GS pulling out from their car park every evening, although most of them were badged GS 450h , there were a handful of 250s as well .. i reckon the higher ups might have opted the GS as a company car choice. no updates on howmayleft.co.uk so far about the GS250

Alloy Wheel Corrosion
ironrose replied to paulw's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I changed the colour of the alloys because the alloys were badly curbed.. the alloys were corroded in a few places before changing the colour http://www.lexusowne...showtopic=77626 I got them changed in a placed called Premier Wheels in coulsdon Surrey.. took £240 for all four .. did not have any problems with corrosion since then... -
The oil level on the dip stick also appears to be alarmingly low and never pushed the car as I stick to the speed limits always. and there are no signs of leaks because i always park at the same place. and I always got the car serviced at the lexus dealership so I doubt if they used wrong type of oil, it might need to go in again for a check up.

Normally on my IS250 the low engine oil warning used come about 7-8000 miles after a service. But this time the warning came just within 2500 miles after the 70 K service on a relatively flat road.... did anyone here experience the same problem within 2500 miles after the service???? or is this something that i should be worried about?

I read in forums that it might look like new GS, though nothing is announced officailly yet... i beleive there will be a hybrid in the lineup for the new generation also just read this article, this was probably planned for the IS and they are just adding it to the GS lineup http://www.autocar.c...-hybrid-planned

I changed the colour of the Standard alloys on the IS250 to dark chrome (similar to the ones on ISF). I will take some pictures when the weather get a bit better (may be this weekend)... the colour of the car is Sargasso green The dealer at Guildford asked where did i get them changed and he was very impressed ...

I'd say stick to the lexus extended warranty rather than a third party one. In my case, the entire clutch assembly on the IS250 was replaced without any questions when i went to dealer and said "it doesnt feel right". Not sure how much that would have costed if i had to do it independently. I bet its quite a task to convince that something is wrong on the car to a third party warranty company (I might be wrong though....)

Next Generation Is Rumour
ironrose replied to mhult's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
The article is ok explains the engine line up etc, but the car in the pics looks like the current generation IS going to a body shop ... doesnt look anything new... and the way auto express mentioned "Our spies have spotted the next generation Lexus IS testing" .. made me laugh -
Next Generation Is Rumour
ironrose replied to mhult's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
This is what the dealer might be referring ... http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/262161/ http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/262161/ -
HI John, Thank you for the information . I think I need to phone Lexus warranty to see whether they accept. The service by Toyota is half the cost of a lexus service! Does anyone here have the Lexus warranty contact number? Thanks. Alex Try 0844 871 7753 , the number for extended warranty .. they might steer you in the right direction

Lexus Service Plan
ironrose replied to roc888's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Seems at bit pricey to me. £440 for a major service and £220 for a minor service at lexus guildford without the LOC discount. So in total only £1100 for three services (two major and one minor) ... and i believe there are few other dealers in the south east who are a bit cheaper than lexus guildford ... unless the price you quoted also includes a warranty of some sort, it sounds a bit pricey imo. i would say try checking other close dealerships -
Cracked Windscreen
ironrose replied to ironrose's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
ooooh hooo.. when the guys worked on my car's windscreen, they cracked the old one totally when removing it and would not have gone back on the car if they realised they didnt have the right one .. -
The IS250 started creaking noises from the dashboard just near the speaker in the center of the dashboard. its sounds as if some loose change is dropped inside the dashboard and its quite annoying ... I was just trying to book in the 70K service with lexus guildford and wanted this noise issue to be checked at the same time and i was told its not covered by the extended warranty and i will have to the pay for the time they would be fixing it ... even worse they ask me to contact Lexus sheffield (i bought the car from them) and check with them about the extended warranty... even more annoying that after paying £740 a year than these bits are not covered ... anyone here with similar experiences where they had to pay for the noise issue to be fixed...
