  1. Hi guys, I've seen a few people get shot down for mentioning taking these out when they aren't 'traders' as such, so I'm hoping that I wont end up with the same fate asking this question... But basically I want to know if they are specifically for people in the motor trade, or whether the rules can be bent a bit? I myself am a company owner, the company has been established for almost 6 years now and I use the IS300 occasionally for visiting clients etc. However, the company doesn't really have anything specific to do with cars - more electronics in general, so I couldn't look anyone in the eye and say that I needed blanket insurance for several cars because of my job. The reason I'm asking is because my old man is selling his Celica GT4, and I'd love to take it under my wing. But with insurance the way it is, it'd be much too high for me justify.
  2. The spring rate for the IS200 suspension is different to the IS300, due to the heavier engine aye. But I'm selling IS300 ones anyway :P I could've sworn it said IS200 under your name when I replied I prolly shud have put IS300 in the thread :P
  3. ^ man has a point. The one in the picture has orange side markers, and I think that all the IS300 ones were clear? Am i right?
  4. Welcome to the forums mate. Glad to hear you're excited about coming back to IS200 ownership. What I'd tell the wife is that while most average cars are nearing the end of their life when they hit 10 years old, the IS200 is still a baby. With only 40k on the clock you have years of great driving ahead of you I'm sure :)
  5. If it really is from an IS300 I think the answer is no. Someone else might want to confirm though.

  7. I'm guessing the answer to this one is Yes, but is the IS300 manifold different to the IS200 one?
  8. 1. Yep. I'm running 18"s with 30 offset and I've also dropped the car on coilovers. 2. Yep. I actually found that the car handled a LOT better for me after switching from the stock 17's to 18's. Not only was the ride smoother (which is weird for going up a wheel size), but as the wheels are spaced slightly further apart it also seemed to help keep the car seated when cornering. Only thing I'd suggest after upgrading is to get the alignment checked, just to make sure you dont start shredding through the new tyres on your 18's
  9. ..and with £2-3k insurance I'd wanna be driving around in a '10 second car' (and that's not 0-60 in 10 seconds :P)
  10. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=69961 If you want a cheaper option...
  11. Haven't yet, but am about to soon :) do remember hearing that only _some_ fit and even the ones that do tend to be pushed up hard against the steering.
  12. I think there's filters and sprays you can use to get rid of the smells. My aircon has a bit of a damp smell that I need to sort out when I can be bothered. I'll definitely be trying some of the previous posts though. If all else fails, you could always shove these under your seats http://www.airandwatercentre.com/store/SEURLF/ASP/SFS/CID.42/PID.459/SFE/productdetails.htm :P
  13. I'm interested to hear how you manage to resolve this. Do you by any chance have full leather seats? Reason I ask is that when i had a half leather IS200 i had no condensation problems at all, but with my full leather IS300 the windows steam up ALL the time. After lots of messing around I've come to the conclusion that the fabric seats helped a lot with absorbing moisture in the air, where as leather does not.
  14. Shameless plug: If you find that one of your shocks are knackered, lemme know as I've got some good condition OEM's for sale ;)
  15. As autogloss has already said, the only way to actually get rid of them is to use a rotary/orbital polisher with some proper cutting polish. If you do this yourself you can expect to spend a good 10hrs+ removing the swirls. However, if you're after a fairly quick fix, something like Autoglym Super Resin Polish or Poor Boys Black Hole will mask them up. Then all you need to do is apply some good wax to make it last.
  16. I'm pretty sure the front bumper needs to come off mate.
  17. I cant comment on any of their mechanical experience, but it does seem like their customer service is lacking some. I've emailed them on a couple of occasions and have received abrupt, bordering on rude replies. I took them off my bookmarks list purely for the fact that I could see things quickly going south if I wanted to *gasp* return something I'd purchased. Just imo... EDIT: Crap I take that back *bites tongue*. Its actually pro-lex I was thinking of. TDI have been quite quick and polite in replying to emails. Yes they seem expensive, but they also seem very knowledgeable and very willing to help. I'd avoid buying direct from their website without speaking to them first though, as a lot of the prices seem totally out.
  18. Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure there is an o2 sensor behind the cat on the IS200 which will give you a warning light. Also modern cats are much less restrictive than on older cars so the benefits are likely to be negligible. Especially compared to the disadvantages like MOT failure, black soot on your bumper, smelly exhaust...etc :)
  19. Looking good mate, as others have said tho, I'd seriously consider dropping it a fair bit more and put on some negative camber to get the proper vip look.
  20. We live and learn. My first Lexus had been through more accidents than an elderly person with an incontinence problem. Wasn't till I got it home and gave it a good washing that I could see it was made from 90% polyfilla :P
  21. I'm no expert, but could it be that the 50mm drop has killed the OEM shocks? Not sure if that would cause the difference in height between the sides? I do have to ask tho....did you test drive the car before you bought it :s
