  1. If you want an OEM, I've got a spare going here that u can have cheap.
  2. Hehe, yeah right. The insurance companies already p155 themselves when I tell them about the car and how I passed my test 6 months ago (I do have age on my side tho!). In a couple of years tho (maybe sooner) I will definitely be boosting her in some way, shape or form. ;)
  3. Right guys, the Mrs is putting a ban on my mod spending for the moment (which is probably fair tbh), but before the ban goes into effect I have the chance to perform one more mod to the car. I'm looking for something that will give the greatest overall improvement to performance (not necessarily BHP). I've shortlisted: - Carbon fiber (OEM style) bonnet. Reduces weight, should look good on a black car, removes the need for me to sort out stone chips. - Hayward & Scott exhaust manifold. Should free up about 10-15BHP by removal of pre-cats and better design. - Aluminium driveshaft. Unsure of BHP increase, but should reduce rotational mass a fair bit and improve throttle response - Torque convertor mod. Increase stall speed to around 2800RPM. Won't increase BHP, but will improve launch (0-60) of car by reasonable amount.
  4. Hi guys, Now I've changed the offset of my wheels I've noticed a lot more must and stones flicking up at the bodywork so I'd like to get some mud flaps. Apparently these are the OEM ones: But i'll be buggered if I can find any other info/pricing on them. Any ideas guys?
  5. Might be a bit late to the party here, but if you're interested I'm selling a full set of OEM shocks/springs taken off my IS300. They will obviously fit the IS200 and have the 15mm 'Sport' drop.
  6. I've got a few ideas buzzing round my head at the moment which would require approx 2A of power to be pulled from a 12v source somewhere near the center console. Initially I'm thinking that I could maybe get some of those vampire t-tap style connectors and tap in to the 12v wire on the stereo connector, but I'm not sure if the wire will be thick enough to carry an extra 2A of current - and more importantly I'm wondering if it would just simply blow a fuse? I'm guessing the answer might be to take from the ciggy lighter instead, but I've not pulled that part of my dash apart yet, so am apprehensive about my ability to get there. Thoughts?
  7. eBay is probably your best bet. I've seen a fair few up on there recently.
  8. I suppose you could try selling the tyres? You wont get what you paid obviously, but it might take the sting out of the upgrade. I just know by the style of wheel that you're looking at that you will wish you'd gone larger a few weeks / months down the line :s
  9. If it was me (and everyone is bound to be different) I'd wait until the tyres on my stock wheels were shot then upgrade to a larger set of rims (18/19") with new tyres. I just couldn't justify splashing out on new wheels if they were the same size as the stock ones :s
  10. TBH i'd be interested in the same. Someone confident enough to pull apart the lamps, matte black them, add some angel eyes and seal it all back up again.
  11. Heard the Tein ones sag after a while so might be best of sticking with the Eibach ones. I think i read that they are also rebranded as TRD springs and should be available from a Lexus dealer at about £150.
  12. Guys, I'm just wondering if its worth listing my OEM suspension (springs + shocks) for sale, and what I should expect to get for it? All the shocks and springs look mint and have done around 55k miles.
  13. off the top of my head I think it was M6 30mm....wait for someone else to confirm tho.
  14. I did see some of the lights with the projector conversions on them, but I couldn't work out what it did exactly? Is it just increasing the spread/intensity of the light by magnification lenses?
  15. I am LOL! And cool, TBH I didn't even bother to ask, but now I know - awesome :D
  16. Bummer. I found a company that uses OEM lights, black chromes the insides, adds angel eyes and makes it all plug and play idiot proof. I just dont trust myself to make a good job of it.
  17. From what I've heard, USA beams are straight rather than angled, so it shouldn't be toooo bad? I'm just wondering if the OEM lights have the neccesary adjustments to point them far enough to the left to pass an MOT. I guess a similar question would be: can the UK OEM lights be adjusted to point straight ahead. If so, the USA ones should hopefully be able to point far enough left.
  18. Ormi, I was going to ask you a question along these lines actually... I was going to get some new headlights imported from USA. However I hear that their beams face straight ahead, rather than slightly to one side like UK cars. After speaking to a local garage, they said that this would constitute an MOT failure? If that's true, is it easy to re-align the headlights to meet UK spec (they are OEM)? Or would they be so far out-of-whack that it wouldn't be possible?
  19. According to the US site my.is, Lextasy are a bunch of cowboys. I'd steer clear.
  20. Nah I've not yet, but I want to get a piggyback ECU before I do so that I can get it all tuned up at the same time. Megan downpipe is good quality, but works best with their own headers which I haven't got yet :(
  21. The gas pedal has a spring under it that gives the pedal a kind of spongey feel and helps compensate for accidental harsh pedal usage (kind of like a buffer). The mod basically involves wrapping a bit of plastic tubing round the spring to remove the springs function. It makes the pedal feel a lot more direct epecially when stamping on the gas.
  22. For the IS300 nope. Probably the best single, reasonably priced upgrade is a new exhaust manifold. But even then you need a solution to stop the engine check light from coming on with the removal of the precats. I've spent a fortune on my IS300 so far, and the gains are relatively small. I only did them because I wanted a unique UK 300 and they will eventually compliment a F/I setup when I can afford it. To give you an idea: Performance Exhaust - ~5BHP £200 - £400 w/ £40 fitting. Decat performance manifold - ~10BHP (bit more with whole new exhaust system) £300 - 400 w/ £100 fitting. Performance Intake - ~8BHP £200 - £250 Adjustable Cam gear - ~2BHP (but improves power band slightly) £100 - £150 w/ £50 fitting. Replacement cam shafts - ~20-25BHP £500 - £600 w/ £500+ fitting. With the IS300 its easier to make the car go faster by loosing weight than it is to make it go faster by increasing torque/bhp. Get lighter wheels, ditch the spare wheel, replace the sun roof with a plastic insert, aluminium driveshaft, bucket seats, carbon fiber bonnet and boot...etc. But then its not a Lexus anymore. EDIT: Also if your priority is to make the IS300 more fun to drive, then I can suggest the accelerator pedal spring mod and also the throttle cable mod. They both make the car more responsive to what your foot is doing and make the car feel like there is more power on tap.
  23. Tigerfish has pretty much covered it. You've got a sports grille so that ticks that off. Only other thing I can really think of is de-badging/changing rear badges?
