  1. HSD ones. driftworks.
  2. fair enough mate, each to their own. worth remembering though that rota wheels are always an inferior copy of a genuine japanese wheel...
  3. afternoon all, picked up my altezza on friday, it appears to have a little problem when the vvti switches over. i can feel both switchovers (exhaust and intake), but one is either running very slow, or there's too far between the two, or something. the engine feels strangled pretty much all the way between 4 and 5 grand, aspecially in low gears - it's really reluctant to reach high revs in 2nd, but as soon as it gets above 5 it flies straight round to 8. to the best of my knowledge the engine is entirely standard bar an aftermarket exhaust, and it's retained the cat so backpressure can't be blamed. has anyone suffered these symptoms before? i'm going to give the car a good service anyway having just picked it up, but i've got no preconceptions as to what this could be.
  4. why would i need to imagine it dave :D lol i agree, i'm a japanese wheel whore, but the OP only gave me a choice of two wheels lol
  5. any time mate. as for mine, bought it today, exceeded my expectations massively. let us know how you get on with the amps.
  6. LOL thats quite funny with the amount of team dynamics, copycat and various unbranded sets of wheels i've seen in the short time i've been here the borbets are a classic rare design that people in the VW circles will give a limb for. i know wheels are to everyone's opinion and one man's rubbish is another man's treasure, i just don't think many people would describe Borbets as chavvy. i'll love to see what people make of my TE37s when i get them tomorrow :P
  7. hi mate. can't answer the first question as i pick mine up tomorrow and will be replacing everything with aftermarket, but i can answer the second. you need to take the speaker outputs from one of the speakers (i.e., run new cables from the OEM amp, or extend the speaker ones and work in an odd backwards manner if you find this easier) and wire these into the amp. most modern amps will have an RCA in put and two small terminals labelled "speaker level input" - this is where you need to put these into. this will provide audio data to the amp. must warn you though, it's a bit of a half hearted way of doing things. you won't be reaching the full potential of even the cheapest of aftermarket amplifiers.
  8. if those were my only two choices i'd go with the TTEs. team dynamics make some nice wheels but that design is over-popular and made by every cheap company in the world.... TSW, mania, wolfrace etc etc all produce very similar looking wheels. there's also plenty of ISs rolling about with that style on already.... ok so yeah there's plenty with the TTEs on as welll but you'd retain an OEM+ look. all IMO of course :winky:
  9. sorry i don't have any pictures to add, my inspiration is in here already though. the I love haters white IS is my entire inspiration, the stickerbombed one looks good on its skinnier wheels but looks hellagash with the wide ones. they're beyond "stance".
  10. over inflate the tyres on a rear wheel drive car... absolute winner of an idea regular servicing with good quality parts. done
  11. convenience store manager for sainsburys. possibly teaking a "speculate to accumulate" step down in salary grade to become a main chain department manager soon enough though....
  12. this isn't a lexus specific answer but its an answer that applies to all lowered cars really so i hope it helps :) the TTE springs are the best compromise to work with OEM equipment (i.e., your original shocks and top mounts) but tend to be a little on the "didn't lower if very far" side (i'm going off what mates have put them on here - starlets, yarises, mk3 MR2s) if you want the car to achieve the low look without a set of coilovers find a set of tein s-tech springs, they're quoted at 35mm but usually sit a lot lower. technically speaking you should change your shocks with any set of springs - you get different spring rates and the shock runs permanent sag when it's lowered. the only difference with putting 50mm ones on instead of 30mm ones is that your standard shocks will wear out a bit quicker, as they're further removed from the sitting position they were designed for. no set of springs will be the end of the world really, it's only if you start doing idiotic things like cutting them that problems arise.
  13. afternoon everyone :) i go by the name of stevie, and i'm from northallerton in north yorkshire. found this site on google when looking for altezza info. let go of my previous baby about an hour ago to a mate from down south :( my former car was an SW20 MR2 that i took from a slightly tired rev3 n/a to turbo'd, fast road, no compromises car that made easy work of porsche boxster Ss, evo 330s, and 330CIs, to name but a few things, while retaining an awesome sound system and reliability. anyway, as you can see from the above images i'm a bit of a JDM whore, thing is i want a car i can stick two muddy mountain bikes on the roof of and drive to work - the MR2 became completely unusable for daily driving by the time i've finished with it, 20mpg on a run wasn't practical when you work 30 miles from home so i've come in search of altezza info and will probably stick about as my heart's set on one. got toyota in my blood as i had a paseo before the MR2 so have never owned anything else bar the fiesta i'm currently rolling to work and back in. keen to stick about and appreciate anything done properly including ICE, engines and god knows what else, so i'm sure you'll see me about B)
