  1. i definitely wouldn't run it with the bung, it looks absolutely horrendous. if you buy a nice shiny loud system the last thing you wanna do is stick that up it!
  2. unless you enjoy pretending you're in films, nothing. i do, so i turn mine off what i actually mean to say is, without agressive driving, you won't see a massive difference, and probably won't notice at all unless you enjoy driving quickly / pay a hell of a lot of attention to your car. for example, on a wet roundabout at slow speeds, the traction control may slightly limit power and step in. but if you're on a lazy, half asleep drive to work, you probably won't notice. boot it in first out of a junction in the wet with it turned on, then do it with it off.... you'll notice the difference rather quickly!
  3. same as most above. get in car, turn car on, turn traction control off. first thing i do. last car didn't have it, i don't want it, and it annoys the hell out of me when it kicks in.
  4. i wouldn't have an issue buying a cat D car. all it means is, exactly as you say, that they were uneconomical to repair, but are still entirely safe to do so.so you could have one in a minor collision with a wall in snow that if you straightened out the rear quarter panel is absolutely fine.... then you could have a cat c or even b that had a 5mph shunt with a lorry, but the force shifted the rear subframe, and it's completely unsafe to drive without major work. everyone worries about cat ds but my last two cars have been imports, and it's only when you go looking that it's obvious over half of the imports that come into this country with tasty aftermarket parts on have been crashed.... my MR2 had, my altezza has, but the quality of repairs on cars coming from japan means it's simply not an issue. if the quality of repair is the same on a uk car, go for it.

    Altezza

buy a deristricting chip from an importer....
  6. steam clean will probably help no end. as for washing with warm water, silicone is water resistant.
  7. i'm not a fan of adding stickers and badges personally, i think replicating OEM logos is next to impossible and if it didn't come from the factory it looks a bit wrong.halfords sell chrome sport badges... and that is one reason i will never have one.
  8. i am indeed the new owner mate, sorry to be the bearer of bad news lol. get the blue one that's coming to torque imports in bristol, that was gonna be my next choice if i hadn't bought this one.
  9. suppose i'll stick mine up. monster matt's car is an absolute inspiration. this is exactly as i have bought it, there's plans afoot for it. i'll post a build thread when i actually do something.
  10. it's really just there for noise....? right, mine's going
  11. i wondered this... i was planning on removing it and it was on my to do list to research it. *keenly awaits answer from someone who knows it's purpose*
  12. the reason the autoglym bug remover did nothing for you is that you didn't follow the instructions on the bottle. it's not a spray on, hose off product, and as such isn't meant to work as one. looks like you did a good job but a couple of things i wouldnt do, one is use the ice polish on the trim (its got petroleum jelly in, it dries out rubber, same reasons you dont use vaseline to lubricate seals). i presume the meguiars purple stuff is hot wheels spray on wheel cleaner? it's pretty good stuff, i actually dilute it down one to 2 with water because it's strong enough that you can do this..... and as for tyre shine, meguiars gold class gel tyre shine, enough said. genuinely the most long lasting tyre shine i've used. i hate talking about detailing cos it has a tendency to make you sound like a *****, so apologies if this post does. i'm not a professional and you'll never see me give it the whole "that wax is rubbish use this one you're clearly wrong" opinion... just letting you know the best products i've used that you can buy in halfords with no trouble.
  13. i think it's pretty dead too, but experienced members is all that gets a site going. i've had a hand in running various forums and people come and go, that's just the way it is.
  14. subscribe mate.... or there's an app for the iphone / ipad. if you google "banzai magazine" you should find out all the necessary info. it's worth subscribing to, some good reads in there.
  15. because he bought the car he wanted? if i had 50k to spend on a car i wouldn't have bought either, but that's my choice and this was his? i'm not gonna dispute your ability to run it, pay for it, or anything else mate. congratulations on buying a gorgeous car and i hope you tinker with it a bit, as modded GTRs are amazing. :winky:
  16. looks awesome mate, liking the sound of the plans too.
  17. don't worry, i'm sure nobody will miss you could go into the reasons why people lower their cars, but frankly i think the ones that get it get it, and the ones that dont, dont.

    Jae 2010

i'll be there with dodgem squad, a club i help to run. so if you see me polishing the shiznit out of my white altezza pop over and say hello.
  19. fair enough, can't fault your logic! i'd go with this theory but having bought an altezza i think it kind of deserves the quick option lol, plus my last car had stupidly amazing suspension spec so if i'm gonna do it i may as well do it right lol
  20. looks better, i'd say you wanna drop the front a bit or raise the back though. rake is good :D
  21. you're on a road to nowhere if you fit brand new out of the box coilovers to a car and expect it to stay where it is, or expect them to be the same in two weeks as they were when you fitted them. the suspension has been sat in a box with only the standard topmount torque setting's preload on it, now put it underneath 1300kg of car and drive over a few bumps, suddenly it has something to do. when i fitted the coilovers to my last car i put them on at the height they came out of the box, then adjusted them a week later. this couldn't be easier to do with the teins because you adjust them simply by lowering the lower spring seat, rather than winding the hub mount round up the shock body. Ejan i was considerng BC racing when looking at the options but couldn't be bothered with rubber front top mounts, they're a money saving compromise.
  22. if your suspension is making wooshing noises under heavy compression, sounds to me like the imminent death of your shocks. one way of telling what condition they're in is to press down hard and fast on whichever corner is wooshing, if the car comes back up to normal position and stays there it's alright, if it wallows up and down afterwards like a water bed it's knackered.
  23. funny you should say that.... just changed my oil today for some millers 5w30 with a new filter. haven't had chance to get the car warm and boot it yet, will let you know how i get on tomorrow.....
  24. which tein ones? had superstreets on my last car. amazing coilovers, absolute transformation of the car. don't go very low though.
  25. those racing harts are stunning. i couldn't have the rotas or the dotz, i can't be doing with fake wheels, or wheels that look something they're not. call me elitist or whatever else, but i wouldn't wear a fake rolex watch either. my last car had one of 4 sets in the country of genuine kei office wheels, now i've got genuine te37s :) i guess the dotz aren't too bad, at least they're making some new designs. dave, yeah, few miles past scorton.
