  1. http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/lexuscare/service-your-lexus/service-plans.aspx i pay £19.95 a month for 2 MOTs and a minor and a major service, and i get 2 years Lexus breakdown cover. Great deal in my view. The dealership in Glasgow is unbelievably fantastic, never experienced such a good service from anyone. Highly recommended
  2. Picked up my 05 Sportcross from MOT. Had Lexus service plan so no MOT charge, car sailed through MOT and they replaced my winter tyres for my summer Bridgestones, total charge 21.50! One very happy bunny. Nice to be back on proper tyres, this will probably mean major snowfall tonight in Scotland. i nsee i can get a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 2s for £104 from Camskill, a good price, My Potenzas are 70% worn in only 8000 miles, poor performance given i paid nearly £300. Hope all is well in IS world Ed
  3. Have you replaced the battery in the key? That sounds a good place to start? Good luck
  4. Well, the snow and ice are here and the winter tyres on the rear of my Sportcross have been nothing short of outstanding, last year the car couldn't get out of the drive, this year up icy snowy roads with ease, can't recommend them enough..Ed in Glasgow
  5. For what it's worth, i've had my winter tyres on for a week now, biggest difference i noted was they are much quieter than my Bridgestone Potenzas, they do seem sure footed in the rain, no opportinity for snow yet. I'll let you all know
  6. that's a very good point, i'll put a couple of paving slabs in the boot as well, that'll empty the tank even faster than normal!
  7. I'm convinced i need to go for 4 winter tyres, i see i can get a pair of Yokohamas for £184, hopefully it'll stop me slithering around, also guys, what is the thinking on use or non-use of TRC, i've seen some say turn it off? Thanks Ed
  8. As a courtesy to members would anyone care to share their tips for snow and general winter driving. I have ordered a pair of winter tyres for the rear of my IS300, automatic, what is the best combination for driving an auto re the TRC and snow buttons. I'm sure this will be of great interest and timely for all is owners. Happy Xmas to the club members from freezing Glasgow Ed
  9. Plenty of IS200 bumpers on Ebay but i think the Sportcross has a different bumper, can anyone confirm or deny? Sorry, i should have put that in my first post~Doh!
  10. Smacked ny front bumper of my 2005 Sportcross, anyone know where i can get hold of a replacement without going to Lexus? Thanks Ed
  11. Wouldn't worry about SportX, have had mine for a year and no problems at all, staggeringly comfortable for me and i'm over six feet. A lot less risky than a property venture though best of luck with that. Enjoy the car, the rarity is a big plus, you will get a lot of interest from passers by. Ed
  12. Did you ever sort your problem, my front sensor is totally corroded and i need a new one, does anyone know where i could get one, would all toyotas use the same part??? Any help much appreciated. Ed Very helpful, thanks very much. Won't waste time with the scanner then. Andrew
  13. My Sportcross has done this for a while, remember I'm in Scotland where it is colder, when i start up in my drive i find it helpful to use the snow setting as i don't want to fly out into the road! Perhaps it's a cooler weather thing only?
  14. Hi Ed my 300 Sportcross OSR lamp also let water in but no crack on mine just a dodgy seal onto the bodyshell, all the roof and windscreen water runs down the pillars against the rear lights. You need to remove the rubber seal around the door, the black panel on the lip (with the tie down points)bend the internal trims in to allow you to see the back of the lamp unit, held in by 3X 10 mm nuts to the body shell. The difficulty then is how to remove the lens and then get the dampness out, mine spent several nights in the airing cupboard before being dry. To be honest if Lexus had quoted me £95 I would not have done it myself but touch wood I do seem to have cured my problem with a mastic bead where the two parts meed (for some reason it has a sponge gasket which surley absorbs water !) Good luck Tony PS is that quote to replace the whole lamp as the lens is bonded on? I am presuming so, this is the quite i got from Lexus Birmingham fron their ebay site. I will give your solution a go first, nothing ventured etc. i just presumed it was as a result of a parking error! i had a small crease on the rear quarter and the corner of the bumper had a smart repair. Don't know if it just my bad luck but i find this car difficult to judge parking etc. My last car was a CRV, much more straightforward if not as much fun! Thanks a lot guys. Ed Dear silversalmon2000, The price will be £95 inc vat and postage (in uk). We would have to order thepart in and also would your chassis or reg number as there are three differenttints( colour of lens) for that vehicle (is300sportcross) Thanks Chris - lexusbirm
  15. Looked at the BaHamut site but couldnt find out how to remove. Does anyone know if the rear light cluster on a sportcross is easy to remove, i have a very slight crack in my OSR light and it's now full of water. Lexus want £95! I was hoping to take it off and dry it inside and then running some super glue over the crack? Anyone had asimilar problem..Thanks in anticipation. Ed
  16. i meant to say they were Motrax Hootaz http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTRAX-HOOTAZ-HORN-12v-130db-UNIVERSAL-MOTORBIKE-BLACK-/220755966489?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item336614ba19#ht_2509wt_1135
  17. i have just ordered a pair of 'Hootaz -see for a clip of the difference, my IS 300 SportX has feeble horns. I have just gotten a Sport Spoiler and whilst the horns are obvious has anyone any experience of what connections i would need to change. Thanks for any help, as usual great help here. ThanksEd
  18. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=54815&st=0&p=601882&hl=+hid%20+self%20+levelling&fromsearch=1entry601882 I have the same issue and i bought an OBD2 scanner from Ebay however it didnt pick up the problem, every time i go near the garage to let them scan it the light goes out! The above article is useful in understanding the issue. i also have a pdf document re the fix on a Toyota Prius which is usefil, you can send me your email to ejobrien@talktalk.net and i will forward it to you, i can never seem to figure out how to to PMs on forums. Good luck and hopefully you will get a result Ed
  19. I have looked round the forum as best i can but can't find if there is a list of error codes. I have my self levelling light warning on and everything seems fine. Have ordered an OBDI 11 code reader and would like to know what the code is when it flags it up. Had a look att he connections and the levers behind the wheels look ok to me. Thanks if anyone can help me. Ed
  20. Guys, i have a 300Sportcross, a 300 auto, and a warning light has just come on the dashboard. The handbook describes it a self levelling (HID lights) problem and to take it to a dealer, does anyone know if there is a big problem lurking? Thanks Ed
  21. i went to the Queensferry event in Edinburgh last week and i had a great day out. Once you register you get the opportunity to drive the whole range, trouble is you are 'escorted' when driving the ISF! Still, tried the LS, CT200 RX450 and GS400 and IS 250 cabriolet. Food was a bit sparse but to date no sales pressure.... Enjoy what will be a great day out. Ed
  22. Guys, i need some advice, my fuel filler release lever in the drivers footwell, just at the seat, is lloose and needs a fair pull to get it opened. It feels like it has jumped out of its mounting, has anyone else had this problem and is it an easy fix. Its a 2005 IS Sportcross. Thanks a lot
  23. Has anyone ever replaced the boot liner seal on a sportcross? Difficulties, much trim removal? Thanks in advance. Ed
