  1. Mr Rudus, many thanks for your info, forums are great sources.
  2. If anyone is interested it's on Glasgow Gumtree @ £25.00.
  3. I have been offered a new original water pump for an IS200, does anyone know if this water pump would fit my IS300? FYI the price is £25, is this a fair price? Thanks
  4. Yes, but there are a good number of IS owners in Scotland and this guy has the necessary settings, and half the price. This forum is to help owners and i for one would have welcomed the settings and a location a lot nearer to home! Ormi in Edinburgh pointed me in this direction and has given lots of useful tips over the years I've been on this site. The new settings really did transform the handling, he assured me the revised settings would also help with mpg figures quite markedly.
  5. After 3 years i finally have my alignment sorted, car is a transformation to drive after using Lexus settings twice and having chewed through inner tyre tread. FYI these are the settings i used,
  6. Leak at the radiator or hoses? Park it on a tarmac drive and check if leaks under car when running?
  7. I've just done the job using Lance's suggestion, it seems to be holding and the headlining survived! Many thanks. This is the item i used, a very nice fit and a very nice price! Keeps my shades safe and handy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beige-Roof-Mount-Sunglass-Holder-For-VW-Volkswagen-MK4-Golf-Jetta-Bora-Polo-9N3-/130924254142?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e7bb193be
  8. Shame my belly doesn't do the same! Thanks for the heads up. Need to find another mounting place.
  9. Hi, I've just bought a very nice beige sunglasses holder off ebay, i think it was designed to replace the grab handle off a VW, the colour is a great match for my beige interior. Sadly the grab handle is too large and i found it would fit very nicely on the rooflining between the rear view mirror and the interior lights. My question is, would i be able to crew in two self tappin g screws to hold it firmly in place? I dont want the thing falling off and leaving tears in my headlining. Has anyone ever peeked under the rooflining? Thanks Ed
  10. Did you meet Mr Midge on Skye? I gather they've appeared now to ruin the summer. Jealous of your road trip.
  11. makes perfect sense, nice to hear though. Transmission in these cars is sooo smooth and creamy.
  12. Very interesting bunch of replies, can i throw another question in here if it's not rude, when i change to manual mode in my IS300 Sportcross it only registers gears 2 3 4 & 5, 1 has never registered, it drives fine so i've never queried it.
  13. They sprayed the actual webbing belt, pulled it all the way out, sprayed and rubbed it with a microfibre cloth.
  14. You guys may be aware of this but it was news to me and I thought I'd share it. My Sportcross was in for it's service at Glasgow Lexus (Brilliant garage BTW) and I had asked them to look at the seat belts which had become slow to retract. They fully extended the belts and sprayed them with silicone oil (You can buy it in Halfords at £4.00 a tin) and then buffed it off with a micr fibre towel. Result is nothing short of amazing, like brand new belts which shoot back into place. They also used the silicone oil on the window guides meaning the windows go up and down much more smoothly. I also put some on the retracting mirror with the same results. Not sure if this is the correct forum but i guess we are all running cars nearly 10 years old or more so thought it relevent to the group. Has anyone else had any good simple tips or uses for the silicone oil or similar. Mechanic said never use WD40. Cheers guys, and gals. Ed in Glasgow
  15. I really don't begrudge the man his money, but for a trip to Chesham is 800 miles round trip costing £175 in fuel alone. My front tyres costing £265 wore out on the inside in 5000 miles! Just getting there would put some wear on my new tyres, apparently it needs to be aligned with the new tyres on for the best result. Can you see where I'm coming from...
  16. Has anyone on the forum actually got a set of the recommended figures for the alignment? That would be of great interest to the Forum I'm sure. Thanks
  17. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Just had service done by Lexus Glasgow (always excellent) two problems have arisen, the gearbox sump seal needs replacing at £200 and the bloody tyres are goosed, look great on the outside with 5mm but less than 1mm on the inside. Anyone recommend someone in Glasgow or Central Scotland who can do the work. Also, does anyone have the actual figures that should be done, ie the WIM settings as the Lexus ones clearly don't work. Just bout to spend £500 on new Continentals so don't want that lot to go down the drain. Don't fancy cheap tyres as RWD skills are not my thing, i drive like an old Lady in the wet. Sorry for the rant, just don't want to spend any more than i have to. TIA Ed in Glasgow
  18. Check for moisture in the fuse box in left footwell. Only other thing I could suggest is a reset of the ECU, IS200: Resetting ECU Make sure the ignition is turned off Remove the engine bay fuse box cover Remove the 20Amp/25Amp EFI fuse Remove the 15Amp ETCS fuse Wait 30 seconds Re-insert the two fuses Install the fuse box cover T his is sometimes advised to reset errors and if changing to higher performance fuels such as V Power. EdGood luck
  19. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/836/du05nzz1stoctober.jpg/ My fairly standard Sportcross, i love this colour, i replaced the front lowered Konis as i hit too many kerbs!
  20. £300-Gulp! Love that colour of your Lexus, don't see too many Scots here, nice to know I'm not alone. Ed
  21. Thanks for all the input guys, I just hope i don't need to replace the mirror glass, I heard it's a biggie.
  22. Touch! I would have presumed they were activatred by the demister also. The only difference between this andmy Honda was that the Lexus has automatic dipping side mirrors as well as the internal drivers mirror. I am told thatt here is a very fine film of liquid in the mirror, perhaps that is whay they are always heated? Just a shot in the dark!! Thanks Matt
  23. Guys, I just realised my mirrors are heated all the time! Is this normal? It's a 2005 IS300 Sportcross. If intentional it seems ridiculous to wear out the elements but there is no separate switch as there was on my last car, a Honda. Apologies if it's been covered before.
