  1. So am I correct in saying you don't like these cars then?
  2. My Uncle had 1 of those, no dodging pot holes in them 😂
  3. But that's all irrelevant if someone has an interest or has a passion for what they own, completely irrelevant. Most of those cars probably haven't even been restored just maintained over the years by owners who in there opinion find them interesting and enjoy them for what they are. Imagine if everyone had the same interest, thought process..... oh and opinion.
  4. Love this kind of thing, this is the beauty of everyone having their own taste and opinion. It's only "futile" if you don't have an interest in that particular make/model. Daihatsu actually made a good little car in the Charade Turbo, little 3cylinder turbo job.... in my own opinion of course.
  5. 🤣 makes me feel better about the whole situation.
  6. So ive finally had the wheel alignment done and alot of it was way out, the car drives a million times better now! I went to A -line in Dudley, they have always done a good job on my cars, they also see a huge variety of cars there too from your average cars to classics to full blown race cars. When I got back I gave it a much needed clean inside and out then tucked it up for the night. Managed a nice spirited drive out the next day to Much Wenlock, car was faultless. Got a few pictures whilst out, also cant believe how much better it drives now......
  7. Yes I imagine them massive lumps would need that just to get them rolling 🤣. It's honestly rediculous, it's pretty violent but even like that it still puts all that power down in 3rd.... maybe a different story with a bit more HP.
  8. So its been a while and a few things have happened in that time but I've been so busy with work and the car I pretty much forgot to update this. The car has finally been on the dyno but not without issues, mostly heat related but I've finally sorted it all out. It did pretty well on the hub dyno and made 530whp at just 19psi which is just above wastegate base pressure. The fuel and ignition tables are done but the boost controller and 2step have not yet been setup. Ive switched the oil feed line back to a -4AN on the instruction of the tuner as I had dropped this to a -3AN, ive also removed the 90 degree silicone hose on the turbo compressor housing and replaced it with a cast alloy elbow and had it welded on.... OLD NEW You can see how close that 1st branch is to the elbow so with the cast 90 degree now it's shifted that silicone expander quite far away from the heat. Also had an issue with the turbo oil return line, this had a DEI fire sleeve on it as it was very close to the exhaust manifold but the tape supplied to hold it in place turns out doesnt like heat either, it came loose and ended up melting and in the process melted the firesleeve and the nylon braid on the line. The PTFE lining inside actually was untouched but I wasn't going to take any chances and made a new line.... this time without the nylon overlay. This has also has a fresh fire sleeve fitted but this time secured from the bottom to hold it up in place. Other issue I had was a coolant line from the back of the water pump housing to a matrix pipe, I had a silicone hose running under the exhaust manifold with DEI gold tape wrap on it. When it was 1st assembled it had plenty of distance to the manifold but after heat cycles and pressure in the system it was almost touching! This is how it was on assembly... I removed the fitting to the water pump and cut it to change the angle then had it welded. Also fitted a fire sleeve to this too just incase. You can see the difference in the routing now and a nice big gap visible from the top. So with all the niggles sorted I can actually drive the car and enjoy it some before it goes back to have the boost cranked right up, 2 step dialled in and the boost controller setup. 1st drive I took it steady and progressively built up confidence of giving it the beans..... my god its absolutely insane! Goes like a stabbed rat! The damn noise is like nothing I've been in before, everything happens so quick I don't know weather to look at the speedo, rev counter, AFR gauge..... if this is what 530whp feel like then I cant imagine another 100 or so more at the wheels on top of it. Videos incoming soon.
  9. I thought my IS300 was low on just 28,800. It's a 2005 car.
  10. Hi Joe, in my opinion I don't think debadging if that's what you meant will change anything as they know what these cars look like and they probably know there is no other option than a hybrid for these cars. I have fitted a catloc to mine and I've not had any scraping on speed bumps and there is some pretty big 1s round by me. All I would say is if you do happen to see anyone jacking the car up and trying to get it its probably not even worth trying to stop them. Most of these thieves tend to work in groups and with weapons, 1 guy by me had all his house windows put through for just shouting out of his window when they was taking his neighbours cat off his car!!
  11. "No Lexus cars are made for track driving anyway" This 1 is designed for track use... this is 1 of many models.
  12. There is actually quite a few Lexus cars that are very capable on track, many models including the LFA, have a watch of the LFA how its made documentary.
  13. Oh yeh when it serves no purpose just farts and bangs on over run, 2step on the other hand can serve as a useful tool to spool up a huge Borg Warner turbo before taking off.
  14. I have my 2step launch control as Linas.P described set up to the right hand "down" tip tronic button on the steering wheel, I knew those buttons would come in handy after the manual swap.
  15. Thanks mate, yeh they make me just stand and stare sometimes 😂. I literally love them.
  16. Little bit of progress, got the extinguisher neatly installed, just need to get another for the drivers side now. Still waiting patiently, here's a few pics to wet the taste buds... Oh and a video just purring. 20210425_203155.mp4
  17. Yes but im not going through the trials and tribulations this time 🤣. Just don't cut your leg with a grinder like I did and you will be fine 🤣.
  18. Looking forward to seeing this, will be nice reading/seeing the progress 👍
  19. Yeh its definitely good value for money but absolutely no differnece between a "professional" install at Lexus and an install at home as its an extremely simple job. I've just had a 4yr service and hybrid health check too so it's all been checked over already and I don't let them wash it so ive saved £45.
  20. Took a few nice pics of the 300 after a drive the other day so thought I would just drop them in here.... Got a side by side with the daily too, same badge but world's apart.
  21. I payed £205 for the kit so Lexus do fit it for pretty cheap but tbh if I was up on a ramp I could have fit it in 10 mins even doing this for the 1st time. They had it in stock too which I didn't think they would have, I wonder if dealers would fit them to there sales pitch cars to save the problem of having loads stolen at once? They could easily lose the cost of it in the price of the car.
  22. Cheers mate, yeah it's not a bad job you can see why the dealer doesn't charge much to fit it as it would be way easier up on a ramp.
  23. So ive invested in a CATLOC, a facebook group flagged up that 3 cars on my estate had been targeted in 2 weeks. 2 Prius and 1 CT, as my car is outside the gargae I just wanted peace of mind. The CATOC was a little fiddly whilst up on axle stands and on my back but got it done. Did all the little bits you need to do with the labels and solution (that was actually pretty tricky because of the angle I was at and lack of space) The guard is way bigger and heavier than I thought!!! Pictures are deceiving! Just need to go online and register it now.
  24. Ahhh I will have to let him know depending on how the dyno day goes 🤣
  25. Cheers mate, I feel a little lost now on my days off with no car to work on and just waiting for the dyno. Closer to the day I will just give it a complete once over to make sure I've not missed anything. I wonder if the big LOC meet will be re scheduled.
