  1. I've used Michelin Stealth wiper blades from Costco for years - never had any other with them and they last about a year or 15k for me. They are about £7 ish each, so £14 for the front. The info on the rear is worth knowing, will have to get my dealer to replace this next time i visit. F
  2. I've got the scorpion verde on my 450H. More than happy with them. Good grip, low noise. Replaced the Dunlop OEM's after 20k as they lost their grip, TC kicking in every time i pulled away in the wet.
  3. I've got several cans of this and TBH - I can't tell the difference from any other. I got the prestone because it was on offer at a certain discount warehouse. I prefer to use a trigger bottle for deicer, so have just bought a load of Carplan 500ml at about £1 each. I've found these to be great every winter.
  4. Never used it Dan, but i believe that it is just to stop the wipers from sticking. Usually have a frost cover on mine (its too big to go in the garage :-) ) Had to replace the windscreen this summer (Note to all - NEVER use Autoglass!!!!! They messed me around something chronic). i insisted on the OEM not Pilkington replacement, so i would have this feature - just in case, National Windscreens were outstanding in replacing this.
  5. This happened on my 450H 2010 model before I swapped it. @DanD beware - those 2 days will grow on you and you'll end up buying one :-)
  6. Had scorpion verde's on my last RX - they were very good, low noise and plenty of grip. I will be getting these once I need some new ones Just got a 13 plate RX, with the original Dunlops on - 10k miles, first time in the wet on Friday and the traction control was going mental! (i was pushing it a bit though :D )
  7. I got one for my old RX - March 2010 but I've just punted it for another this is on the lexus website for my old one Step 3: Confirmation We have identified that your Lexus is subject to a voluntary customer service campaign or outstanding safety recall. This can be rectified at no cost, by contacting your local Lexus Centre or call us on 0845 129 5473 to arrange a time at your convenience.
  8. greased lightning for me - spray on, wipe, buff - only ever had excellent results. It is sold as a waterless car wash, which I have never tried, so i always do a traditional wash , then use it for wax only.
  9. That's what I am having at the minute - quoted £300 for front bumper respray, 3 stone chips on roofline (where roof meets windscreen) and a whole car polished to get rid of the scratches. The guy who is doing it I have used for 20 years and he is a perfectionist. So I reckon it will be like new when it is done. Hence I thought about film protection to prevent this happening again.
  10. Thanks for that Barry, Wow - that seems expensive to me (but I am a tight Yorkshireman :D ).
  11. HI All, A quick poll of experiences. On my RX450H I have got 3 stone chips on the roofline where it meets the windscreen (two right above the rear view mirror and one toward the passenger side). I would have thought that was an unusual area to get them? Does anyone else have them there? Or have I just been unlucky? The body shop that is doing my bumper (see expensive car wash thread) is going to sort these out, then I'll be looking to put some protective film on. He reckons that because the lip is slightly proud of the windscreen and there is no rubber seal there that it could re-occur. Thanks Fezman
  12. how much is it costing Barry - I'm thinking of having it on my RX450h
  13. arghhhh. I did something like this myself a few weeks ago on the front bumper of my 450H. I thought it was the lexus paint that failed. So when it was serviced on Monday, I asked the dealer to investigate. It turns out the bumper had been sprayed previously and they had done a poor job. So the clear coat was peeling off with every wash. Now I've used the same body repair guy in Barnsley for the last 20 or so years and took it to him. He confirmed what the dealer said and quoted me for stripping and respraying the bumper, fixing a few other stone chips and polishing the whole car. I won't be using the pressure washer on the car again! The silver lining is that when I get it done - it will look like new
  14. always really fancied a 400h until i drove one. I felt that the roll on corners was too much for my liking. Was loaned a 450H when i had my old IS 220d serviced, decided I had to get a 450 there and then (expensive service eh :-) ). For me it was a no brainer, the 450 felt more comfortable, handled better, felt safer. So now i have one :D
  15. So my rx450H is out of warranty next month, and the 60k service is about due. I seem to recall that lexus sheffield mentioned £600 including spark plug change for this. What have you guys been charged for your 60K? I'm planning to keep the car - so will likely be lexus servicing for a while. Cheers Fezman
  16. Another vote for the Scorpion Verde All Season - had mine a couple of months now and have not seen much wear and the road noise is reduced from the previous continentals
  17. Just collected my 450h this week (2010) and on a 300 mile motorway run averaged 33mpg, ave speed probably about 73/4. What i did notice was that giving it a bit of boot quickly dropped the mpg for the whole trip, i.e. was doing about 35 mpg, gave it full throttle for about 10-15 secs to overtake a load of slow moving vehicles and reduced to 33mpg. So not too far from my IS 220d which managed about 37/8 at similar speeds. About 5 miles from home 0 reset the mpg, and on mostly A roads managed around 38. This is much better than the IS which gave a woeful 31/2
  18. Hi All, I have a 220d SE-I (2010 model). It looks like the tracking is out on the front drivers side. I also need 4 new tyres So a couple of questions is it best to get tracking done first then new tyres, new tyres then tracking, or have them done at same time On tracking, it seems all my local tyre centres won't touch it and say take it to the dealer - who want £75 - is this the case ? Does anyone know a cheaper route? Lastly - what tyres do people recommend, I've a budget of £500 for 4 Many Thanks Fezman
