I only looked at it as I had to drive past the dealers when I went and picked up little 'un from Uni. so thought I'd pop in and take a look. I too noticed that the aircon display wasn't working and also the electric aerial doesn't retract. Still, the Celsior on a well known auction site finishes tonight,you never know I might be lucky!!. £500 and 19 bids with 8 hours to go. As usual though,I need to sell my current motor before I can get another LS. Anyone want a '92 M******s 300TE..........

Firstly there is NO service history at all despite what the listing says,and there is no proof of the cambelt change either. The engine sounds nice (didn't take it for a test) and the body only has a couple of small white marks on that would polish out. Thought I would let you know in case you were considering it. Also the price on the car is £1695.

It was all four coil springs broken (£600) and a few other minor issues. If I'd had the cash sitting around I would have had it done as I loved the car. I'd only paid £500 for her last February,and she didn't cost me a penny in the nine months I had her. The Essex banger boys gave me £400 for her after the MOT failure,so £100 to run a car like that for nine months. I needed a car for work straight away so I got me a S**b 93 for £425,which did me well until September this year when I got 'Gertie' a 1992 M******s B**z 300TE. A nice 'basic' old girl. I still hanker after an LS400 though. If those numbers come up tonight...........

I wish the MOT tester I had last November had been as nice to my LS!. It's his fault that I had to downgrade to a Mercedes Benz. Even after a year of being 'Lexusless' I still pop in to the forum - and dream of another. One day.

I've always used Fairy Liquid. Never been a problem in forty years of motoring!.

Nice - but I couldn't be doing with all that sat-nav screen stuff. It would pack up ten minutes after I bought it for sure!. It's a MK3 for me (please!).

I keep hearing about DHP alloys and 430 alloys,but which ones are these please?. I did e-mail the seller for some interior pics and asked about the pixels etc. but got no response. I haven't owned a green car for about twenty years - a Vauxhall Shove it estate - what a nasty piece of poo that was,but I did move house using it and then swapped it for a Volvo 164E,much better.

A while ago I did hear that Lexus had in fact NEVER sold a replacement gearbox for an LS. I leave the panel to decide.......

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of a Cadillac Seville STS at all as a workmate bought one in to work today that he is trying to sell for a friend of his. I must admit it reminded me quite a bit of my dear departed LS,similar shape,similar dials,similar seats etc. This had the 4.6 Northstar V8 32v lump in it and did sound quiet, but when I looked at the dash it was showing average mpg of 13.9!!. His mate is looking for around £1900 (on an S reg) short MOT and no tax,which seemed a bit pricey to me as there are a few on ebay a lot cheaper than that. No doubt it's a nice motor to drive but it just inspired me to bend over backwards to get back in the Lexus saddle again. If those Euromillions numbers come up tonight........

Does anyone know what happened to the LS 400 that was recently advertised on ebay that 'sounds like a Ferrari'?. Did it sell?.

Does anyone know if replacing 'both rear upper suspension arm rubber bushes' on a '95 LS400 is liable to be a big job please?. Also a rough cost would be nice. Ta.

Mike I must admit I don't really look into the details of insurance - I just go for the lowest possible quote to stay legal and worry about any claims etc if they come along. I could possibly get a better deal with more cover or whatever,but I can't be arsed!!.

Just been quoted £252 full comp. for an LS400. Swinton via GoCompare. Will phone present insurer to see if they can match it.

Do the earlier LS's i.e MK 1 and MK 2 have such a good sound system as the MK 3?.

No sign of it now,but there is a '95 on 85000 miles for £695 with CLOTH upholstery!. Thought they all had leather. Square rear number plate too - import?.

Just missed out on a '95 LS400,121000,years ticket,in gold,three owners,private plate,always garaged,less than a mile away,£850. Aaaaaaarrrrggggghhhhh........ Come on chaps,help get me back in that leather Lexus saddle. Prefer a MK3. Similar price to above,willing to travel,cash waiting from next weekend. Be quick,I've also been looking at BMW 730i's.!!!. This is interesting. On Go Compare now Swinton cheapest at £294. But M+S who quoted me £700+ on the phone,comes in at £313. Hmmm....

Just to get back on topic,I've just phoned my current insurers (M+S) with the imaginary scenario of insuring an LS400, and the bandits wanted over £700!!. This is after I took the policy out for my 2000 Saab 9-3 2.0 turbo for £192. Where on earth are they getting these figures from?. Surely the Saab (as a bit of a pocket rocket) is much more liable to get binned or pinched than the Lexus isn't it?. Bring on the revolution - off with their heads - power to the people and all that.
