  1. Thanks Steve that explains a lot. so either way I'm stuffed lol. I think I will just have to accept I don't have the funds to keep legal insurance wise and stick her on ebay. Might even get more than I'm asking for now, fingers crossed.
  2. Group 48? I thought there was only 19 or 20 groups! I'm so confused, things used to be so much simpler!
  3. Well I'm finally getting to the bottom of this fiasco. It turns out that a Group 19 car in my postcode is very undesirable to insurance companies even though I or my neighbours have never as far as we can tell have had any problems with theft or vandalism! I took on board everyones helpful suggestions and tried loads of other companies with no luck with regards to premiums. Oh well I thought not a massive problem as I have my taxi to use so my LS is just a plaything for me that although i will miss her dearly I just can't afford to keep at the moment. So I thought put her up for sale and just get tempoary cover for purpose of test drives etc.........guess what NO ONE will do temp cover on a group 19 car in my post code!!! How on earth am I going to sell her now...grrrrrrrrr these robbing gits are really getting on my nerves now. She's a great car and I only want 500 quid for her but its starting to look like I'm going to have to weigh her in for scrap value which is only a bit under what I want. The thought of a scrappy taking her breaks my heart to be honest and I've only just serviced her too!!! The insurance robbers in this country need to be taken to task as their greed is out of control nowadays, I wonder what the insurance company bosses bonuses are this year! Sorry for the rant by the way, if any one needs a mark 3 as a donor car give me a shout, its got to be better than a scrap yard.
  4. Sent you the pics, hope they are of some use. Its definitely green according to log book etc but it looks grey to me.
  5. Thanks for the info guys I think I will ring them in the morning and explain. I could have sworn it said " if you wish to return your tax disc" but I must have misread it so a phone call is in order to be safe.
  6. I did think about returning the tax disc but it didn't say I had to on the web site. if that is the case its very unfair to people who may just be repairing a car or like me just selling but not right at the time of the insurance running out! Is this just another way of screwing us honest motorists over! On another note, well done tescos.
  7. Sorry guys I didn't mean that to sound ungrateful it wasn't intended that way. I was just wondering if anyone had taken out short term insurance and were pleased with the service they were given if that makes sense. Cheers.
  8. Thanks guys. I know how to use Google but what I was getting at is has anyone had a good experience if there is such a thing with their insurance company etc I have left the tax on the LS to make it easier for any buyer.
  9. I tried Saga but no better than the others. I think I will just have to sell her as I can't justify running two cars at the moment. Does anyone have any recommendations for insurance companies that do short term cover so I can let people test drive her? Any advice much appreciated.
  10. I'm glad not everyone is being royaly shafted, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the victim of identity theft or something.
  11. Unfortunately,at the time I had no choice as I needed the cash to get another car straight away so I could get to work. The sellers starting price is what he gave me for it last year with no MOT,so went and got the Saab 93 2.0 SE Turbo for £430,which has proved to be very reliable (so far) with a ticket and a bit of tax. May be looking for another LS in the next couple of weeks - wanna buy a Saab!!?. Give me a shout fella I might still have mine in a couple of weeks and I would always prefer it to stay in the club and away from those Lexus Killers....
  12. Well she's all sorned up now to avoid any unpleasantness with the authorities. I have left the tax on for a future buyer, I've never understood why people cash in tax for 60-70 quid when this allows buyers to haggle more than that off the asking price !!!! Will give the carpets a good scrub before she goes if it ever stops raining long enough......I really miss my old garage.
  13. And any way why buy that one when mine is for sale and has a real mot :-)
  14. I think its just me being stitched up to be honest by the sounds of it. I'm convinced its my postcode although the insurance companies seem to believe its low to medium risk. I do have 3 points but I'm mid 40's with 6 years no claims. Ironically I got a trade insurance quote as I have traded in the past and wanted to know the price even though I'm not going to take out a policy as I won't be trading anytime soon. That quote was reasonable for trade at £800 ish, so where do they get the £1400 for private insurance from! Its a mystery to me.
  15. Ha ha thanks Mike. I will have another when my finances get better, I have never enjoyed driving as much as I have with my LS. Its been a joy to own.
  16. Well that day has come. My LS is now off the road, not because of no mot or tax but purely down to insurance price hikes. I'm really quite upset more so than I have been with any other car, strange how you can get attached to a car. I'm going to put her on auto trader this weekend as long as the weather lets me take some good pics. First refusal to anybody on here though. I will keep an eye on pm's. She won't fetch much but she has got a long mot and a few months tax so a good driver for someone. I'll start saving for another soon.
  17. Ha ha I like it. I bet they would use that one if they could.
  18. Yes sorry it was me with boardroom scenario as I fully believe he knew exactly what he was doing. I think I would be incredibly naive to think that a man in his position wouldn't have a clue how tescos had done over Christmas and the effect that news would have on the share price. Every little helps! Love it.
  19. Couldn't agree more. How does the saying go "give the man a gun he will rob a bank, give him a bank and he will rob the world"
  20. If I remember correctly, SQL stands for structured query language and is used in data base management. the forum could be classed as a database. Its been a while since I wrote any code so I could be wrong but hope my memory hasn't got that squirly. lol
