  1. Hello Mark, I had heard of this before, but nothing from the scan points towards the radar sensor :( There is no dealer involved in the sale, as it came from the auction, however I am in contact with the auction place as it was sold as no major faults and they are waiting for a call from me today to discuss options. If it is a simple thing as the brake switch then I would not go into the fuss of back and forward conversations :) Regards Vasilis
  2. Hello guys, Just got a nice example of a Lexus LS460 SE-L 84.000miles , photos to follow :) On the way driving back there was an error came up about PCS failure and to visit the dealer. This happened at a round about and then did not appear again. Next the LKA would work for a while and then it will be disabled again with the relevant error message. The same happened with the ACC active cruise control work for a bit and then get disabled. I noticed although the brake lights will work, there will be sometimes a second of a brake lights coming on and then off ... and then come on properly ... which I though the brake switch seems over sensitive. I then plugged in my laptop and retrieved all the following codes (many maybe not relevant to the problem). Any ideas are welcome guys, is the cause to all my problems the brake switch?
  3. I have just checked today and the single wheel is spinning on the dials screen. So the problem appears only on the touch screen graphics
  4. You know I have not checked on that. I will look at it over the wekeend and report back :)
  5. Hi Robert, No the pics were taken when stopped. When when in motion the only difference is that the flow arrows appear to show where the powers goes to and regen. These animations work perfectly. But the wheels are not spinning ... :(
  6. This has a range extender 1.4lt engine. I use it very often ... lol but even so, between the 10.000miles services the oil in it is like new. I will have the filters/oil changed. I had to change the coolant in December (part of the 60.000miles service) . This was complicated as they have to change the coolant in 3 tanks and 3 different circuits. The batteries have their own coolant circuit, and it has cooling lines run all between the battery cells. Not easy.. especially easy to get air pockets if the change is not done properly.
  7. Regarding the shaking I have noticed that my rear passenger side shock has leaked badly and my front both shocks have seen better days regarding leaking as well. I will sort out the shocks first ... and the look more into the shaking if this is not sorted by fixing the shocks :)
  8. Everything works like it should be. No fault codes etc... The only thing not working is the spinning wheels animation :(
  9. What would have caused mine to stop spinning... I cannot seem to get a good google result to investigate further :(
  10. Just a quick update to this. The Osram lightbulbs did not last for long... after some time, the driver side one changed colour ... to the other one. The light output was still not satisfactory. I had ordered a couple of days ago the Philips X-tremevision Gen2 42402XV2C1 They were expensive coming to 199 Euros for the pair delivered from Germany. But it was well worth it, the light output now is pure white and about double the output from the Osrams. I always have been using Philips and I have been well impressed, I was just sceptical on the high price point. But at the end of the day what you pay is what you get. :) All in all now really pleased with the headlights.
  11. Ah ok ... I thought it was doing it automatically, I only used Reset All button shown on the top of the screen. I shall try to press Reset later and see what happens. Anyone else with non spinning wheels? :)
  12. Well I have done 16,500 miles so far I have booked it for it's 10k service next week. It has been trouble free with no problems what so ever so far :) exceeded any expectations and it proven to me that Prius is not the only reliable car on the road :)
  13. Just a quick update, the traction Hybrid battery pack still holds on very well after a few months :) Preparing for my European drive in a couple of months now.
  14. Hello guys I seem ot have "2 problems" First of all it seems to be that on the energy graphics, my wheels have stopped moving/spinning when the car is moving?.. I am sure they used to be moving. Or am I confusing it with my old Prius? I know it is a different car but on my Volt they do move as well. And the other thing is that since I reset my consumption a few months ago the Best figure only displays dashes... never a figure. The Average is working well though. Ignore the Average number as I only just disconnected the 12V battery in an attempt to get the graphics sorted ... but it did not work :( Cheers Vasilis
  15. Very nice :) I loved when I had my Legend and have grown with Honda ownership. The only thing that annoyed me was the lack of "support" for my model the AC compressor had gone, could not repair it.. even the dealer would not give a definite answer. And this Takata airbag issue ... annoyed me the most with Honda HQ messing about and not giving a definite answer or a courtesy car :( But it did take me to Greece and back and I was really in comfort and luxury. Shame about the A/C not working as the temperatures were 40C ouch lol
  16. That is true Colin, I would not expect it to be as reliable as a Prius. It will be difficult to compare it as the "lifetime MPG for the car" had been 129MPG from the previous owner, I am the second owner from new. This shows the car was run a good amount of time on electricity only, so out of the 58,000miles the engine was not used for all of them maybe 50% use. So it will not be "fair" to compare it with a Prius where the engine would have ran almost 98% of the time. One the other hand, I think the front top strut mount have a weakness to fail... seem quiet common now the cars are getting 4yo etc.. MOT advisories. It does not help that there have only been just about 122 Chevrolet Volts sold in the UK ...
  17. My Legend was recalled for both frontal passenger airbags (got the letter summer 2016 and yesterday received a call from Honda HQ as I was in a priority list to attend to get them replaced. But I have already sold the car. I did not want to drive around with a pottential bag of nails blowing on my face. (well there are no nails but you know what I am trying to say). Ineed this has been an ongoing issue for a couple of years, I am sure Toyota has been the most helpful I have read that dealers have assisted disabling the airbags at the request of owners until the replacement took place. Something Honda would not even talk about.
  18. Hello guys, As my Prius was reaching to 170.000 miles , I thought best is to sell it and move on to something newer and more efficient. I had a test drive of a Nissan Leaf ('16 plate Tekna model 30Kw) Nissan lent it to me for 6 days, the seller was surprised as I had done 750miles! while I had it lol. Although it is a lovely car to drive (expect to be shot down in flames by some with the comment lol) It was not for me when it came to long distance driving which I have to do 4 times a week more less. So since I had the electric taste... I now wanted an electric. A tesla is out of the question ... as they are expensive. Now with regards to PCP or Lease plans especially on very fast depreciating electric car prices. No dealership wanted to even discuss any plan as my average work mileage is more less 40,000 t0 45,000 miles per year. So back to the drawing board I had to buy a "low-ish mileage car" new enough and also at a good price so I will not loose much after a couple of years. And here I am I came across the Vauxhall Ampera's ideas ... but again they were kinda expensive (ish) they did cost about 11K for a decent spec model and age. Which is similar price for a Prius Plug In. But the Prius eehmmm is useless on electric range and power .. when it comes to compare it with the Ampera. However when it comes to long distance the Prius has advantage on motorway consumption. So I then came across to the one I bought a late 2012 Chevrolet Volt , which is the same as the Ampera (but I kinda like more the styling). So I get a fully electric car with more power than the Prius... but with less motorway consumption once the battery is gone. However as the car has the same working theory for the batteries as the Lexus and Toyota hybrid models, the batteries are kind of bullet proof. (water cooled). I had it now 1month and already done 4,500 miles with the car. And I love it. I know I bought an electric car in the wrong time of the year... cold and freezing temperatures do no favour to the battery range. But I know at least it can only get better as the temperatures rise. The benefits for London having an electric with a range extender (27g of CO2) is congestion charge excepmt. But also having a membership with source london means I can park in various by the road locations and with £2.14 per hour I have electricity and "free street parking" now that is a benefit for London use. I still have about 40.000miles of warranty left for the high voltage components and powertrain or just under 4yrs. So really pleased with the car. It has a couple of things I need to sort out such as condensasion on the rear light and alloy wheels pitting (who said this is only on japanese cars?) lol. Here are some pictures below, I wanted to share with you :) Cheers Vasilis.
  19. I had a similar problem with my Supra, the coolant was boiling and did overflow all over the bonnet while on motorway, It turned out to be the main crankshaft pulley inner seperated by the outer (the rubber ring came off) and the aux belt would not drive the waterpump properly if any. Worth checking?
  20. Just an update you must have seen this on Haynes post. But the pump bearings are "easily" replaced within a couple of hours the most and the cost is about £12 incl postage. So do not write off your cars as of yet ... just because Lexus say gearbox replacement needed. Now from what I understand if the bearings failed... and the car is driven for a long time (days) then the Hybrid battery might fail as it does not charge properly... also the 12V battery might fail too as it relies on the good operation of the Hybrid system to charge it. So it is like a chain of events in a way
  21. Hello why do you need to calibrate the camera? If you have removed the 12V battery negative terminal and you want to reset the camera.. as the guide lines would not work until you do so. You just turn the steering from full lock to full lock (all the way to left from right) make sure the car is stationary and not moving when you do that.
  22. Oh I agree, but it would have been nice to be greeted with my keys by the sales person and ask me what did I think. It is just a matter of politeness.
  23. Hi Richard, The lexus canterbury once more... confirmed that they don't care to be honest. I dropped of the car on Saturday, the receptionist asked me what key ring my keyd had and here I go .. to leave. The sales person did not even bother to come and greet me or anything. I had to ask them to come out... I did say I was a bit dissapointed from the consumption 28MPG... and there was oouumf missing. The GS450h is way faster... But he said to me you have to do 5000miles before you can see economy go up to 30s MPG. So no hassle what so ever.. lol
  24. The S2000 already is on the up pricewise... they are becoming somewhat of a modern classic. They have another lovely high reving engine :) I personally prefer the looks of the Honda than the Boxter.
