  1. You may have new new callipers but do you have new calliper carriers with new slide pins? Because if the slide pins are corroded and sticking then it won't show itself as blatant as when the calliper pistons sieze. May take time to present itself. I've also seen it a lot. People replace the calliper but not the carrier and slide pins and are back at square one and don't know why.
  2. It's just I don't know which to go to now! Lol
  3. Err there's another meet down South being arranged by Stuno1 for 8th June mate
  4. Toyota a full of it, sorry. I've seen two brand new cambelts chewed up by (silent) old tensioner and idler. Changing the belt and not changing them is foolish! Unbelievable that they say that. Lexus Bristol wouldn't change my belt without doing the tensioner and idler!! The reason to get your water pump done at the same time is because if it does go, and it will, you said yourself it's the original on the car, then you save labour charge as they have to remove everything around there when doing the cambelt anyway so it'll just cost you the cost of the water pump (about £120) To replace water pump including labour is about £300 so you stand to save £170 in the long run.
  5. Typical siezed calliper symptoms... I bet that's what it is. Prob the most common prob on 1st gen IS's!
  6. Hi... Wow the difference between above and underneath is amazing. For me this wouldn't be a problem, especially if it was my toy/project car and not my daily. In fact that looks like fun to me I'd start by cleaning everything up, either getting a company to do it as Steve suggests or I'd do it myself. Then you can start to see what parts are actually rotten. Then replace the parts over time. I normally change most of the suspension and brakes when I get a new (to me) car anyway but I can see how this can be a problem if you don't like working on cars and you're used to dealers/garages doing everything. I'm sure a garage/dealer will cost... A lot!! All the best and tell us what you decide to do with the car :)
  7. Bank 1 is always where cylinder 1 is located so 1-3. There are two primary 02 sensors on the 200, 1 for bank 1 and 1 for bank 2. and one rear 02 sensor. So three O2 sensors it total
  8. If it passes emissions them chances are everything is normal
  9. Cambelt and water pump as said. While your under there check suspension bushes, ball joints (these tend to be a weakness) mounts, everything really lol
  10. Yeah all depends how much "smoke" we're talking. If you can't see out if your rear view mirror for smoke them that's not normal Ans do you mean thick white or clear like steam? Thick white isn't normal. But a little clear/steam is normal. 6 cylinder engine.
  11. My old 200 did this every few months. It was in tip top condition, used to clean the TB regular and maintenance was always up to date, new plugs, battery etc.... I stopped worrying about it.
  12. That's good news for you Stu but I can't help feeling a little peeved. I've been caught for speeding twice also. But I have 6 points on my licence which has led to my insurance sky rocketing from £44 per month to £107! First time was 75mph in a 50mph dual carriageway. I hadn't realised the speed limit had decreased from 70 to 50 and it was on a Sunday evening and I was literally the only car around and I didn't even realise I was speeding. I mean I'd crept 5mph over what I thought the speed limit was but hey ho, £60 fine and 3 points. I also then got caught doing 72mph again on a 50mph dual carriageway. I knew I was speeding and I was speeding deliberately. I was trying to get to the hospital where my father had suffered a heart attack, as because as far as I knew at that point it might be the last chance I had to see him. When I appealed, stating the reasons and circumstances it still fell on deaf ears and £60 fine and 3 points. But you got off with a very short ban after being caught at 100mph+ that then had no further implications such as increasing your insurance because you had 0 points and then you get to go on one of them speed courses for another offence again seeing you get scot free with points?? Now lucky you Stu, but something seems wrong with the system to me that you get off after being caught at 100mph+ (save for a 2 week ban) I would rather have received a two week ban on both occasions and not receive penalty points as the extra cost of the insurance is now leading me to contemplate selling my IS300 for a 1.1 litre shopping trolley!!
  13. Get the car scanned for the fault codes. You're just guessing at the moment.
  14. Hi and welcome :) Bad news about the HG, did you contact the seller? Surely some come back? Fair play for fixing it. Looks sweet mate. Nice RX8 alloys. Might feel a little slow if you're used to scoobys/Evo's
  15. IS220 was only available in manual. But yeah I'd say clutch on the way out. Is the biting point quite high?
  16. The mobile version of loc works perfectly on my iPhone, so what's the point of the app? That was sorta my point....
  17. £50 for gold membership is enough in my eyes
  18. So I just thought I'd have a look at LOC on my phone, as I normally do and up pops an option to download the LOC App. I thought great but then realised it's £1.49!! Does anybody know what this app features? Because if it's like other apps it just works as a browser to view the mobile version which I can get up using my web browser for free. Anybody got any info? I'd also suggest it should be free for gold members to download. :)
  19. Yeah of course. 18"s as standard on my IS :)
  20. Welcome. Looks a very clean example, congrats. Enjoy it :)
