  1. Hi mate..... It is complicated and many see a 2jz into an IS200 as pretty much pointless as you could just get an IS300 which already has a 2jz, upgrade the internals to 2jz-gte (stronger rods etc) and boost that. A lot simpler and cheaper.
  2. Yeah it's normal, that's how they've worked in both my IS's. I find they feel better (warmer) on the full leather of my 300 than they did on my half leather seats in the 200. Think they turn themselves off when they reach a certain heat and won't come back on again for a while after that. I read that they work on a timer relay but I can't confirm that
  3. My aux belts and cambelt said mitsoboshi on them (not Mitsubishi) lol.... Agree with everything lee said but you get a years guarantee on genuine Toyota/Lexus parts, not sure you'd get that with another brand but I'll stand corrected if lee says you do :)
  4. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/171232208900?nav=SEARCH Cheaper than I thought
  5. This was 2 years ago by the way so not that long. Another possibility is to buy the genuine Lexus cambelt kit including tensioner etc for £120 from Lexus Birmingham eBay shop and then getting an Indy or local garage to fit it? Might work out cheaper
  6. Ahh yeah I have a mate living in Kent with a Lexus and the dealers your way are crazy prices. Mine was done at Lexus Swindon. Lexus Bristol were the exact same price. But my mate had it priced at Canterbury Lexus and it was £500ish.... Might be worth the petrol money and the drive down the M4 to Swindon?
  7. Oh and Lexus gave me a brand new CT200 to drive around in for the day..... Completely free of course :)
  8. I doubt you need the WP because of the low mileage but remember things do deteriorate over time. One thing.... It doesn't matter how many miles on the car when you change the cam belt you MUST change the tensioner and idler! I've seen it twice now where an old tensioner chewed up a brand new belt and one was on a low mileage car like yours, maybe a bit more, about 35/40k. Just so you know, main dealer will be competitive on this job. I paid Lexus to do my cambelt, tensioner and idler and it was £320 all in. I didn't do the WP and mine was on 80,000 and I drove it for 2 years and sold it on 107,000, no problems. Also belts should be changed every 60k or 6 years. Your aux belts may look in good condition but you can't tell by looking, nobody can. Change the lot, also aux belts at Lexus cost me £50 for all 3 fitted.

  10. Don't pay Lexus for a master key!!! Join the Facebook IS200 group, I'm an admin of it. Another admin "the original Stoney" has master keys for sale and will include this guide http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/48876-need-a-new-key-you-need-to-read-this/?fromsearch=1 That he wrote a few years ago when he was a member here, he is no longer active on this forum.
  11. Right I went through all this a couple of years ago..... You need a master key to programme another key. Even Lexus would need an existing master key to make you a new master. Lexus will order you a new master key, it comes cut already for your car but NOT programmed. The ONLY way it can be programmed is if the car has an existing master key. If you only have 2 valet keys then these can be copied as valet keys but you cannot programme a master key from a valet key. This is what Lexus Bristol told me. Also yes, if the security light goes out immediately after inserting the key it's a master, if the light stays on for 2-3 seconds and them goes out it's a valet key.
  12. I will be selling some yes, but only once I've worked out which are the good ones and which are bent lol...
  13. Totally agree. Yeah could've googled it but why not post on Lexus owners club and meet new like minded Lexus enthusiasts at the same time.
  14. Yes Pete, the reason they used the 1GFE engine for the 1st gen IS despite it being an old design is because of it's smoothness and refinement in being a straight six. :)
  15. This is an LFA .....I doubt you've seen two of these in Cardiff It's such a prestigious rare car mate, most sold in left hand drive to the USA also so even fewer for this country and right hand drive. This is an ISF. It's a second Gen IS but has a 5.0 V8 engine. Costs about £50k brand new. A hell of a lot more of these on the UK roads. Still rare but not as rare as an LFA ;)
  16. Yeah this only works on cars with the double lock feature. Not all had it, my old 200 did but my 300 doesn't. Quick way to tell, if when you press the lock button twice the indicators should flash 5 times if you have double locking plus you can clearly hear the double clunk as the doors lock
  17. That's cos it does only lock the drivers door, it doesn't central lock the others using the key. Press the power lock button on the drivers door to lock the other doors then get out and lock the drivers door with the key. That's the only way of doing it manually :)
  18. Lol no need for apologies mate :) I'll prove it to you at the next meet, bet you can't get a single 200/300 to central lock using the key ;)
  19. It could well be different in the US Ian. I've joined a few us forums since getting the 300 and I've noticed a few differences between our 300's and Americas 300's
  20. My 200 was 01, my 300 is 01 and my mate jacks 300 is 04 and none of them central lock while using the key in the door mate
  21. It doesn't I swear. Locking with the actual key in the door doesn't central lock the other doors...Not on my 200 or my 300 or my mates jack who I'm with now 300. If you want to lock the car manually with the key you have to press the power lock button on the inside of the drivers door and then lock the drivers door with key.
  22. And quick is an understatement mate, it's one if the fastest cars on planet earth! :)
