  1. In the wet, with a lot of right foot
  2. Can't tell by doing that (spinning the wheels) on an IS as it uses a Torsen LSD
  3. I sold the car shortly afterwards. But the clutch was fine. Felt good.
  4. Looking promising mate. Yeah could even just be where they changed the pump and spilled some. :)
  5. £700 fitted from Lexus £280 fitted from Mr. Clutch This 2 quotes I got
  6. Ran into the same problem on my old 200. No Lexus or Toyota will not sell the bushes spare so you cannot replace with OEM unless you buy the whole hub or control arm on the front. As linked above, bushes are available on the net. I bought some bushes, but then I'm lucky as I have a mate who runs a garage so we went there on a Sunday as you need acess to a ramp and bush press. I can see why Lexus/Toyota don't want to change just the bushes as it's a bit of a pain of a job and takes an hour or two depending on how easy those bushes come out and go back in. It's so much easier, less labour and more expensive to replace the whole hub or control arms, that's why dealers do that.
  7. I had to play about bending the front backing plates on my 200 when I first got it and also my 300 when I first got it as they both did this. Most likely it's the backing plate rubbing
  8. No, I have pink coolant and it does dry on white onto the plastic engine covers. I flushed my system myself and was cleaning white dots exactly like in the op's pics for a few days afterwards. Where I have a tiny leak at the top corner of my rad it dries on pink but that's onto a metal surface.
  9. I just think they could've put some more curves on it or something. Looks like the designer only had a ruler  By the way, before you all think I'm trolling, I'm not. I think the LS is an amazing car and the looks don't put me off having one. I may get one yet, been thinking about it. :)
  10. Just been thinking. If you've just had that WP replaced then all that could be from when you had the faulty WP in there or even from when it was changed.
  11. Welcome. You're not alone in the inner tyre wear. All 200's do it. The problem has been fixed by Tony at Wheels in Motion. You need a 4 wheel alighnment done to his specs. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/tyres-wheels-lexus.php
  12. You keep hearing about turbo and supercharger because that's the only way to get any power gains from this engine. It can't be chipped, can't be re mapped, basically anything you do that doesn't involve forced induction is pointless.
  13. I've always said the LS400 is an "ugly" car. Doesn't change the fact it's is/was an engineering master piece. Just think they could've been a bit braver with the design. :)
  14. If you've found the plastic cap marked coolant then you've found the expansion tank. Look behind it (as in the back if the rad facing the engine) and there is a clear plastic level marked min and max. Your coolant should be at about half way to 3/4 when cold and near max when hot. But do not overfill, do not top up to max when cold. This will just result in you overfilling the system and it'll spew out once hot. It's also good that you have pink coolant (extra long life) If you need more coolant you must use an ethylene glycol mix which is pink. This is either from Toyota/Lexus or I use halfords pink long life and yes I've mixed this with Toyota pink with no problems. Others may say that wrong but I did it on my 200 and it was fine over 25,000 miles and I've done it in my 300 also fine for the last 6000 miles. Must be ethynol/glycol tho, mix it with another type of coolant (green for example) and you could well kill your cooling system and car. Id also wipe those white marks tonight and I'd check after driving it tomorrow. I would not leave it a week. If your WP is spraying coolant then you need to attend to it ASAP. The WP is a vital engine component and needs to be working properly.
  15. Clean the engine covers and see if the white dots return. And keep an eye on your coolant level
  16. OEM are about £150 part only. Don't worry about your Head gasket. The white dots everywhere are only a sign of a HG failure if it's spraying out of the radiator or expansion tank
  17. The white stains are coolant and yes it's coming from your WP. Need a new WP....
  18. Well that's very strange. Was it an OEM part or aftermarket calliper? They do honestly use the same brakes
  19. Rear windows, rear quarters and back windscreen were all tinted in the sport
  20. WP is leaking... Then change it. The fluid stuff that's gone into your rad will be one of those rad seal or K seal. They are not good for your car and I wouldn't put them anywhere near my cooling system. They stop leaks temporarily but the damage that can be done to your cooling system in the long run just isn't worth it in my opinion. When the WP finally gives up (and it will if it's leaking) then your car won't be able to push coolant around the cooling chambers and your car will most likely overheat. When a car overheats many things are effected. The car may run rough/lumpy, the internals get so hot they melt fusing together or the head gasket blows. What I'm trying to say is the water pump is a hugely important part and you need it fixed ASAP.
  21. I've had them on my car for 4 months. No noises what so ever. Best wipers I've ever had
  22. It was Bath mate, and they told me that for laser alignment I'd have to go elsewhere as kwik fit only offer "basic front end" tracking. I tried to argue that there's no such thing as a front alignment as if the rears are out it doesn't matter what you do the front it'll never track straight and true. This is when I got the baffled looks and I just left and drove the next day a 250 mile round trip to WIM. I'll never go anywhere else now to tell you the truth. The effort Tony put in to re write the geometry settings for the 1st gen IS is remarkable and the service those guys offer is second to none. They never make you feel like you are hassling them (as I felt in kwik fit) and they are more than happy to get the car up, tweak it a little, test drive it, get it back up and tweek some more Ect till it's perfect. And I've never had a car handle it feel so good as my old IS200 after getting it WIM'd.
  23. Sorry mate didn't mean to mis quote you. This ad is doing the rounds on other forums and Facebook and many are saying it doesn't or didn't boost. I don't know if it does, never seen it, I'm just saying what's being said :)
  24. This doesn't boost properly apparently as Stav says.... It's also not a TTE charger. £1400 for a load of noise lol
  25. The procedure to de activate the interior sensors is pinned at the top of the 200/300 forum :)
