  1. Agreed, but on paper both are similar, supposing both have similar bodywork, tyres ete, etc, would the 12k more miles justify the cheaper price?
  2. Evening all, Just waved goodbye to the IS300 and am now looking for my RX. Narrowed it down to a couple of vehicles and would be grateful for some advice/input! 1. Grey (my prefered colour) 2 previous owners SE-L Spec- plus rear screens 1yrs MOT 1yrs Tax 1yrs Lexus Warranty 83k Light leather inerior 8 miles away 2. Silver Same owner from new SE-L Spec plus rear screens 1yrs MOT 6 months Tax 95k Black Leather 100 miles away. Both cars are RX 400's, both same year reg, both have full history. Car one is up for £11950 Car two is up for £10000 Realistically expect 1k off those prices for a sale, so £11 and 9k. Book price is about 12-13k... So, question is, what would you go for?? J
  3. Given my experience of trying to sell my 2004 IS300, you are going to be very dissapointed fella. I've had no end of poor offers this week which, if I take the average it means my car is worth less than 2400....
  4. Tax is £270 a year, with the RX350 at £475 it looks cheap!!
  5. Hi all, would be grateful for some thoughts re the pricing of my IS300. I'm changing to an RX and allthough I have the funds to purchase, I thought I'd get rid of the IS first as I havent really got the space for 4 cars at home (wifes Hybrid Yaris, my Alfa Spider, IS300 and potentially the RX). I put comprehensive ad's on both Pistonheads and Ebay: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/lexus/is/lexus-is-300-le-2004/1020765 Theres hardly any 300's for sale in my model year (2004/54), but so far I've had offers of around £2k, with the highest at £2.4k. The question is, is that all its worth these days? as I'd had a £2.8k figure in my mind.. If that is the case, thats fine, but given that there arent allot of late model 300's around I would have thought that they would have been going slightly higher. (i was offered 2k plus a Toyota Starlet on ebay-hmm, I'm still tempted!) Thoughts/ comments? J
  6. Back in August I had the following done by Toyotec in Redhill/Gatwick: 100k Service, Timing Belt and Water Pump (7/8/12) Cost: £733.69 J
  7. Yep master key :) As shreksta said a new key will cost u about £160 from Lexus. If you lose all keys to the car then it's a nightmare. Worst case scenario is you'll need a new ECU, new door locks and new ignition barrel and new keys at a cool price of £2000 from Lexus! Please mate, stop posting up stories like this to scare people- it simply isnt true. You can have have your ECU reprogrammed to accept new keys- when I got my car, the only key I had loked like a master key, but wasnt. An autolocksmith reprogrammed my ECU to accept the key, and the spare I had as well. My post from April 2010... For all those that may have read recently I had some issues coded a 2nd key to my new (to me) purchase last week. The car was taken to Lexus guildford for coding where I was told that my master key was actually a sub key and that they couldnt code my spare key. they did however give me the details of an auto locksmith who said that he could copy the key so it would be a spare, but neither would be the master key. The cost of this was £105 plus vat. I had a look around where I work and found one literally round the corner from where I work in Gatwick and had a chat with him yesterday and booked it in for this morning. The result?? I now have 2 coded master keys, with the spare also programmed for door unlocking as well. The cost?? £150 inc.vat.. The imobiliser was removed and reflashed so that it recognised both keys as Master keys. He went through and showed me that the car actually had 5 keys coded for it!! Anyway, its all sorted, for a relatively small amount- especially if you take into account people and dealers saying you need new keys and an ECU- you dont. you just need a decent auto locksmith who knows what they are doing... For anyone who wants his details- he's Gatwick based but is mobile (and I guess the price charged would reflect that?) ????: ###### # Forum http://www.**********club.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=7713 Anyway: Gatwick Auto Locksmiths, Kelvin Way, Crawley, RH10 9SE 01293 536377 dave@autolocksmiths.co.uk Can thoroughly recomend them, they did a superb job- even if I do have to go back tomorrow as I was £10 short.. J
  8. He has replied to my reply now: Mine: Dear dj_scully, Thanks for your kind offer- if you were in my position, what would you do?- thought not.. His: Hi Mate! How are you? What is you last price? I would be happy to give you £3,000 if you got the wheels in the photo. The wheels are worth £600 to £700. You can call me on 0790903XXXXXX to discuss the sale. Mine(and losing patience...) Mate, Not sure if you read or understood the listing? Wheels have been sold. Price is on the listing. You would have done better actually making an effort to view the car before making (the first ridiculous) offer- do you really think anyone would really want a Toyota Starlet in part exchange?? If you are serious, come and view dont waste my time and yours on pointless email exchanges... All typed with my happy face on...
  9. I got my best one yet this morning!! Here you go: Hi mate, I would like to make you an offer of 2250 or 2,000+ my 1999 Toyota starlet 1,3 sr motd and tax'd. To discuss please call me on 0790903XXXX/ 077963XXX25. I would like to make the payment in cash or bank transfer and not through paypal. Many thanks for your help. Scully Anyone after a Toyota Starlet?- apparantly worth around £250....
  10. Legal tender apparantly that can be exchanged for cash at a post office... Unlike Space Raiders- I did try.... J
  11. Selling the IS on ebay and on Pistonheads.. Cars priced at £3000. ebay- had an offer of £1300 (as thats all its worth apparantly) ph- had an offer of £2500 (so getting better), but in CASH!!!- wow, I wasnt expecting that! I did reply back asking what other currency he had (just in case it was better), i mean, its not like I wanted 3000 bags of crisps now...
  12. Hi all, Haven’t sold a car privately in ages- (someone at work was interested in buying it but turned out to be a messer who had no intention). So, done my ad on PH and the dreaded EBay and I’d be grateful for any feedback please. http://classifieds.p...le-2004/1020765 For info, I sold the wheels that were on it this week, they wouldn’t have added that much value to the car, hence it is back on the original wheels.. If in the wrong section then apologies... J
  13. I'd use this as a benchmark...... 2 previous owners, full history, 106k, th best colour, etc http://classifieds.p...le-2004/1020765 (yes, it may be mine....)
  14. And thats exactly what they went for....... Any lottery predictions for Friday?
  15. Absolutely right, wasnt a for sale post-purely a valuation/ what are worth post... J
  16. Happy to donate them (in return for beer tokens.)
  17. Be grateful for thoughts on what these are worth. I'll let the pictures tell the story, but for background: 4 of. Shod with Falken 452's all round. All with 3-4mm tread. J
  18. Cheers fella, Definately looking for a hybrid now- out of interest, where abouts in Surrey are you? J
  19. Here you go, took them off the car and put the 17s/Dunlops on, so a quick wash and this is what they look like (lush!) (album of 10 shots:) http://s206.photobuc...heels-Jan 2013/ plus a couple..
  20. Tony, many thanks for your thoughts. I've run my IS300 up to 106k and it has been faultless, but had concerns over the high miles on a hybrid equivilent. Some peace of mind at least. J
  21. Been looking to change up from my IS300 and have been looking at RX's- its a toss up between a 350 and a hybrid. I wonder if anyone who has an 80k plus RX400 has got any words of warning against getting one that could potentially be problematic re the battery packs etc, or whether just to bite the bullet on a £475 road tax RX350! Thanks, J
  22. I'll have these one's to sell shortly... Im not a paid up member on here so I cant directly advertise them. Any interested members can send me a PM and I can let you know when I put them on ebay etc.....
  23. Well I have these on my car at the moment: Have Falken 452's(from memory) on with about 3-4mm of tread. Looks like I have a buyer for my IS so I'm going to put the 11 Spokes back on and punt these on. On the car: So any thoughts as to how much a set of 4 would be worth- with no kerbing (touch wood!!) J
