  1. My mates dioing my water pump and 3 belts for 80. water pump 40ish in ebay 3 belts 30 quid. gonna get the timing belt done too tho
  2. I know! its the 3rd or 4th time ive taken them out and cleaned them up, but everytime i put them back in same prob. Ive ordered some rubber test tube bungs for the exit holes and have 2x new bulbs with new gaskets and to prevent corrosion im putting sandwich bags over the back of them! Will let you know if it works, if it does will do a write up for others. If it doesnt I cbb anymore! lol
  3. There will be 3 gens soon! yeah mine came with 2 keys only also. well good luck with your purchase make sure you ask any questions on here if in doubt, theres alot of good advice and knowledge on the LOC, but in general these cars are flawless. I couldnt help but notice how many break down and problems other car makers forums have on them vs the LOC. I was on the rover/MG one the other day trying to find something out for a friend....
  4. Im getting my cambelt, water pump and aux belts changed next month. It was last done 57k in 2007 and its now at 100k and 6 years on so im getting mine done. I wouldnt risk leaving it longer. anyway i thought it was the tensioner that was troublesome vs the belt itself hence them changing it to 60k
  5. Ive got some invoices from Stockport lexus, but no service history as such, i called them up and they said they didnt have any info on my Lexus, they said something about them changing the system a few years back
  6. I was thinking the same thing... mark2 IS then?
  7. First of all assuming the RX autobox is a similar setup to the IS... Link below (Lexus RX) Seen loads of ppl say its a professional's job, but it doesnt look any different to changing the engine oil to me! was thinking of doing it with next service as my fluid is slightly brown ive noticed
  8. Thats outstanding. I mean its just a slushbox too at the end of the day, a very good one at that, but not a DSG or similar, so def underrated and ahead of it times ide say too. Just make sure you look after it, i.e servicing etc, my tranny is due a service soonish. If i was sticking around in the UK my next car would be the IS300 and soon! if not that a GS430 but insurance stopped me when buying my 200. I also find that a manual car will always stop accelerating for a second as you change whereas a auto IS will just glide thru the gears constantly picking up speed :) I bought the auto just because im a auto guy, my last car was auto too, my first car was manual and just didnt enjoy the experience to be quite honest, get alot of grief off my friends but dont care! thats just me. Yeah shifting is fun, but it gets old fast especially when im using my car 90% of the time to get to work in a town, not "fun" territory. Autos are the way forward these days too, DSGs are faster and more ecomical than any manual. My dad just got rid of his manual 911 and got himself a AMG E55 auto, he says its faster and more fun
  9. When i bought my IS the car had been fitted with nice new fogs, cost the previous over over 100 quid i saw on the invoice. However the bulbs were totally siezed but i managed to get them out with a clamp. Replaced the bulbs but ever since ive put new ones in the bloody things are fogging up, one worse than the other and had water in it! so i took them back out washed them out, dried them. they looked as good as new. I replaced the holes with new sealing tape (self amalgamating tape) but they just keep fogging up still. Its really starting to pee me off because they look aweful and i hate it things not perfect! plus there nearly new and am worried ive buggered them somehow. Gonna have another look at them today and maybe order some rubber bungs for the holes, maybe the tapes not giving a seal....
  10. How much can you get a refurb for round your parts? seems 50 quid is the going rate but i want cheaper lol
  11. I really struggled to get interest selling my previous car on the free sites like gumtree, pre loved, webcarboot etc. there just a waste of time. Ebay - not much better and waste of money. After nearly 2 months i was so desperate for my baby (IS200) i gave in and paid to put in autotrader. I put the add up about 10pm and got a call the next day at 9.30. car sold at 10.30! so dont waste your time just put it on autotrader, might be expensive but you'll get it sold
  12. I said to my work colleague bet you wish you still had your Jeep Cherokee and she wreckoned her new FWD car is better than her 4WD with winter tyres she put on it. Ive personally not had any issues with my summer tyres and am yet to be convinced they are required in these conditions (where i live anyway) I had to make a semmie emergency stop the other day too and not a skid. It also took me 2 attempts to get the tail out on a empty car park after work! 2nd attempt i had to turn traction off and really had to give it some and it finally it slid out slightly!
  13. Whenever I see a IS200 with a lip spoiler im jelous so Im buying a painted lip spoiler from ebay/tiawan, . Its worryingly cheap but looks like any other....will let you know how it looks link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320962698319
  14. Not sure if the 6 speed would be ok for that engine, but i do know the IS300 that was sold with a manual in other countries had a 5 speed... im sure someone will come along and advice :)
  15. wow nice response. interesting info noby thanks
  16. For something like this I would go to the scrap yard. Scrap yards normally just let you tinker about and you just show them what you've got, for a bit of plastic trim they shouldn't charge more than a fiver
  17. This is too bad! I hope it's a simple fix for you. How many miles does your IS have again?
  18. Yeah this is what I do too, wouldn't mind knowing the issue just out of curiosity...
  19. Well put it this way, compared to the drivers seat it's barly warm and no arse heat! My driver seat heats up beautifully as should no know for sure there's a prob with passenger. I will have a closer look at the looms then and test with a meter... I hope it's not the element as I've heard it's a biggy
  20. I occasionally have a starting problem and its not the battery because its only 2 months old and its not always when very cold outside. In the 4 months of ownership its probably happened 4 times or so, but im not worried. i think my last car had similar thing
  21. Ever since ive had my IS (about 4 months) the passenger heated seat hasnt worked properly. Only the upper back heats up and is also is only slightly warm. I have only found one person with a similar problem reported in this post from 2007 and no fix ever came up. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=63499&st=0 Other ppl have had fuses going or broken switches but my fuse and switch is fine and lights up as should etc. I have also checked all looms and connectors under the seat which appear to be in place So in the 6 years that post has been up im just wondering if anyone has had any luck with a similar problem or has any additional information for a fix or what the problem might be.
  22. If you can afford the insurance get the IS300, you'll regret it if you dont down the line. However if I had the IS300 i think ide be tempted to push it more and in doing so get a worse MPG than in my IS200 where i dont even bother because every time i do im disappointed lol
  23. Thats dealers for you. When i was looking to buy a IS a dealer offered me £500 trade in for my previous car book value was 2150, i managed to sell it for £1750 privately on autotrader and just went and bought a IS with cash the same day, more hassle but you dont loose out.
  24. My friend whos a mechanic charged me 20 quid to put 1x new caliper on the front.
