  1. It was well used, but well maintaned in my care, so if it had been repaired properly I guess it would have been a good buy. I'm still wondering why the tips are missing, they were missing when it first appeared "repaired". I put the rear bumper on the low loader myself when it was recovered and all the tips were still on the bumper.
  2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lexus-is-f-5-0-sprots-automatic-saloon-petrol-4-door-/261741135505?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cf0fcc691 My written off F is back up for sale. Still trying to sell it with 2 missing exhaust tips and a missing toeing eye cover. It now has a load of fault lights on too. No one would buy it would they???
  3. I was a passenger while I was "instructing" my wife round the track on a track day, not the most comfortable place to be.
  4. The IS-F would be awesome round there, good place to really stretch its legs. Gutted I never got mine round there.
  5. Yeah they do vary wildly. I usually look at days that are £150 max which can rule out some. Think Donnington was only just over £100 but it was a Sunday in November!
  6. Donnington is excellent, never got to put my IS-F round there, but have done it twice in a Seat Ibiza Cupra 16v many years ago and a Mini Cooper S last year, and was huge fun. Tyres sound fine 5mm is plenty, yeah bike helmet is fine I believe. tuition is available at some events depends who the orgainser is Not sure if you are on Piston Heads or Facebook, but if your willing to travel up to the midlands, there's some guys called Sprint and Trackday (they have a page on FB) who run mini Trackday sprints once a month at Curborough in Lichfield. You basically go one at a time and do a run round the track. usually 10-15 cars so you get plenty of runs. Its £60 a day and fantastic fun. They end up with a great variety of cars, and are a fantastic bunch of chaps. I'll pm you the details if you wish. Did 4-5 events with them last year in the IS-F and it was excellent. The car doesn't get so much hammer either being short bursts, rather than lap after lap of hammer. they run a little top gear style timings board for the day too, so whilst its very informal there is a little competitive edge to it too.
  7. I've done loads of days in all sorts of cars. 1, I've never felt that there were any plebs in attendance at any event I've been to, organisers are quiet strict on inappropriate behaviour on track. Its not the scene usually for chaved up corsas, Open pit lane days tend to give a bit more flexibility and once the rush is done at the beginning you go out when you please. Sessioned days are ok, but if you end up with a problem in your session you then miss out. Having said that it does give you and the car time time to cool off. 2, Up to you, I've not bothered, but its your call. 3,Yes, covered arms generally to. 4,Depends how you drive but it will wear them heavil, I would make sure you've got at least half on your pads, and the tyres are in good nick. 5, Obvious stuff, make sure fluids are topped, pressures are correct, tyres and brakes as above, and you empty the inside and boot. Stuff flying round the cabin isn't good! 6, Group or session days, tends to group by the description you note however if you're an novice but have a quick car, like the F, I'd put yourself in a class above other wise once you get into it slow stuff will constantly be in your way. However in most cases the organisers will switch you if you are in the wrong group. Hope that helps. Where are you thinking of going?
  8. The interior of the GTR is probably the worst bit of the car.....but then I don't get hung up about such things. They are great cars in every other respect, so it wouldn't put me off.
  9. Anyway Damo n, good to see you are still going to the ring in your F. Was great to see you there when I was, last April, utterly fantastic place.
  10. I thought all UK IS-Fs were limited to 168 mph.
  11. Yup just me in the car, I'd dropped my wife and our 5 year old daughter off just minutes before.....The "What Ifs" haunted me for a few weeks after.
  12. GTR would be top of my list next I think...they are utterly brutal with only minor fetling.
  13. I'd seen that video before and have to say the result is no surprise. Having owned a IS-F and now in a 135i not a million miles from the 235i, I have to say the 135i is pretty quick out the blocks and certainly feels on a par, despite the official figures up-to and past 60. no doubt the extra power of the IS-F would help as the speed comes on and the weight difference becomes less important. I am a huge fan of the IS-F, but these BMW turbo charged 6-cylinders are pretty impressive, mine sounds pretty good too. Howls at high revs, pops a and bangs from the exhaust between gears etc. Its proper characterful in fact. however BMW do seem to have managed to engineer out all the authentic noises of the latest crop though which is weird.
  14. It was a shock, I immediately came on here... as I knew someone would be asking questions of it. Just brings all the sad feelings I had when the accident happened. :(
  15. @Stuno1 Maybe...it was a lovely car, I did love it. But thought the 135i would give me 95% of the smiles for less running costs, and was much newer for the budget I had.
  16. I'm still in shock that its back on the road to be fair. Thought it was destined to be broken.
  17. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS-F-5-0-V8-32v-FSH-73k-2-x-Keys-Rare-model-Yamaha-Engine-/291129501462?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item43c8aba716 Guys I can tell you it was mine. Written off last August/sept. The reg its on now was what it was on when I purchased it. The repairers told me it needed a shell really, but they couldn't buy one. they priced up all the panels and the bill was going to be more than that clown has it up for. It had heavy off side rear impact with a tree. It was a well looked after, but well used car, track days, daily driver 20k miles year in my ownership (18months). Did a 3K trip around europe two weeks before it met its end. I have photos of the damage if any one is interested. Miss it terribly...particularly when its replacement a 135i Coupe has broken down on me today, bloody thing. :-( Having said that, i wouldn't want that back for £10K never mind 14K, unless its had a shell...which it clearly hasn't.
  18. What?? thats low...is it on really low annual miles?
  19. I posted some of mine on here in action on track but they are gone!....why?
  20. Then its still in your interest to keep it tip top. If its worth more than the balloon at the end, you could pocket the difference.
  21. Am I just being dim....but is your steering wheel just slightly out. If the cars tracking/alighnment is all ok, then its just the steering wheel isn't on straight. Does it actually pull right when you release the wheel, ie will it actually drive straight at all? If the alignment has been adjusted recently it may be that the steering wheel was not completely straight when they made the adjustments.
  22. Agreed Stuart My wifes 630i has never been cheap to service and isn't an M.
