  1. I for one am a fairly impatient person - if i had to wait any longer than the delivery date, i think i'd be in danger of going mad. I took delivery of my RX300 (2004) on May 15th 2003, which was the release date. I had no problems with that car. Lexus quality control is fantastic, so I know that problems are unlikely and if they do occur, my car will get sorted. Also, the technology is currently working in the Prius. So I'm not really concerned.
  2. For ages now i've been looking for a 1/18 diecast RX 300 (2004). You can get the old ones but the new one is nowhere to be found. Anyone know who produces them, or where they can be obtained?
  3. hi all - you can get the bars and a-bars from 4x4x4.com http://www.4x4x4.com/accessories/lexus_acc...ies_frbars1.htm I wanted them on my RX300 2004, but i bought the car on the first day it came out - may 15th last year i think. The bars didn't become available until early this year, by which time i'd gone to a is200 sport. I will be putting them on my Hybrid when it arrives in March though! Make it look a bit more of a man's 4x4! :winky:
  4. they probably had to keep the variations to a minimum as the sportcross sales must be tiny. I think i've seen 3 in two years! Maybe most estate buyers are also more likely to buy diesel, so they go to other brands?
  5. Today at the petrol station I was stopped by a guy wanting to know what I thought of my is200. He explained he was wanting to buy one soon. Obviously I told him it's fantastic, second one i've had, blah, blah, blah.... Then the discussion turned to extras... I said in a merc or beemer the amount of extras available in the lexus would cost thousands more. To which he replied: "yeah, well i suppose it is a poor man's BMW"! I was nearly sick on he feet! People have such bizarre misconceptions about Lexus. Don't get that attitude in the states where it's premium brand no. 1! oh well....
  6. take the car, but get rid of it before the new model appears and devalues the hell out of all our cars!!!! £10000 sounds ok to me.
  7. well most people don't even know why the x3 was made - nearly the same size as the X5 and less talented. Great. oh not to mentioned over priced! The RX 300 wins every time. The cost of specing up an X3 to the level of an rx would be silly. I recently read an article comparing the X3 with an RX, a volvo xc90 and a freelander. Even the freelander, which is a much older vehicle (and way cheaper)came out better than the X3! Rest assured, you definitely made the right decision!
  8. i've got to agree...the 11 spokes really stink! My current IS is the 2004 version, so i had to wait till november to pick it up. when it arrived it had vaguely smoked lamps and lighter silver dials. Great! Except some of the silver bits are still the dark silver. I thought not changing all the silver bits was a bit naff! My previous 02 plate IS seemed much better built. Lexus seem to be raiding the bottom of the parts bin at the moment to get rid of the remaining IS shells before the new one in 12-18 months time.
  9. since my last reply, i decided it was reseach time - I checked out the prius forum and found this link: http://www.priusonline.com/viewtopic.php?t=1354 Prius is the rx400h's closest relative so it makes sense to see what the mk2 can do. Of course Ian is right, more power plus more investment should equal a fantastic car. It will come with trade offs though, like not being able to manually change the gear you are in. That was definitley a bonus in the rx300. I'll be thoroughly inspecting the 400 at the motorshow!!!
  10. just read that thread..... suppose we won't know the facts until people actually start driving them. If the cons out-weigh the pros, then i'll save myself the estimated £4k premium and just buy an rx300 sel.
  11. sometimes the sensor on the car won't work if it is exceptionally wet. It happened to me last month when it was pouring with rain - has the whole alarm embarassment too. The next time i went to use the car everything was fine.
  12. I'm with e-sure. for my is200 sport w/sat nav, with 6 years NCB at 26 years old, we are talking £450. The car is manual and 5 months old. Presumably age of car affects the premium? who knows what really affects the premiums though?
  13. what a git! I've bought 3 cars from lexus and i've always had free mats. Thats the only thing that came free though! Closest thing to a discount...
  14. i had paint guard put on my last lexus. I have to say it is the biggest waste of money! I was told it would guard against scratches but wouldn't really help against stone chips. In truth it doesn't work at all and i was horrified to see my month old car covered in scratches after it was washed at the gym i use. This meant three things to me: 1. wash my own car and don't be so lazy! 2. black lexus paint is no good. 3. paint guard is rubbish and gives a false sense of security. Oh yeah, according to the dealer it causes problems if you try to t-cut the scratch. So you're stuck! Lame!
  15. mine got nicked last year, during school holidays of course! Thank *** they are stick on so the metal does'nt get damaged. I paid £6. So no big deal..just slap on a new one and watch out for the kid who thinks he's in the beastie boys with your old badge round his neck!
  16. to be honest i never considered BMW! Since the 3 series apparently out sells mondeos - they are so common. BMW's are for people with no imagination... :winky:
  17. So I picked up Autocar (as I do every Tuesday) to find an article about all the new Lexus models lined up for the rest of the decade. Everything looks great - very exciting models..... but whats this? The RX400h release date is listed as March 2005! So in January this year it was November which is when I put down the deposit. Then Autocar started listing the release date as January and a while later Lexus announced a Jan release. Are we in for another delay till March? If so, is that the last put off or will it slip back and back? Anyone got any solid info on this or even an informed guess?
  18. I used my RX for town driving the majority of the time and the fuel consumption was very high - a lot of time was spent at the fuel pump! With that in mind I've put a deposit on an RX400h. If you can wait till January it'll be worth it!
  19. I bought a model of the IS300 in Black. They are made by autoart, which are really badly distributed over here - I bought mine on the net from shop in holland. They aren't cheap, but they are great quality and have a lot of detail. I've seen them in blue and yellow also.
  20. Jay- if you can, get the SAT Nav with parking camera. When i had my RX se it was my biggest regret leaving it out and due to the configuration of the center console it is not really the sort of thing that can be retro fit. I've driven the se-l and hve to say that the tv screen makes a big diffence in tight spaces!!! Cheers, Nick
  21. aaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhh.....i hope they don't stretch the wait past january.
  22. When I was driving my RX SE last year I got flashed all the time - I think it's a combination of very bright lights and them being mounted high on the vehicle. The light is more in the other drivers line on sight. The lights adjust themselves to the correct angle when you turn the car on - i'm sure you've noticed the beam start low and then come up higher. Suppose you aren't the one getting blinded so just go with it!
  23. I noticed in Autocar that the RX400h has a release date of January 2005 - they've been showing fall 2004 as the release date for months - does this indicate new information of a later release date? I hope not as I put down a deposit on one yesterday! Anyone got any opinions, or better still actual information?!
  24. I find personalised reg plates in Uk hugely frustrating - you can't have what you want ideally, so you have to go for something half ****d. Would rather have a normal plate than something that almost spells something sort of relevant... Saw an IS200 at the local dealership with a personalised reg, it was: ANU 5. I nearly ****** myself! What a comedien (I hope).
  25. Just a thought on the Hybrid: Won't those vents on the bumper be partly covered by the reg plate? If they are only cosmetic I suppose it's irrelevant but it may look a bit odd..... in the states the RXs I saw all lacked front reg plates looked really good. Rang my dealer to put a deposit on the hybrid today but my contact was on holiday - foiled!
