  1. No the iPhone app works without being near an RX 400h but disconnecting the RX battery is making me ask will I lose all my RX Sat Nav data...... My use of the iPhone app is because it is up to date on speed cameras and also my speed in relation to limits I am driving on at the time. App is CoPilot on an iPhone 6
  2. does that mean I lose all my regular journey data? I have started using an iphone ap which not only shows the route in perspective but warns on overspeeding and speed camera positions. also gives travel info on intended route if any holdups many miles ahead.
  3. Whatever size is right use PIAA silicone blades as they are squeak free and last ages. In my humble opinion.....
  4. On eBay - An RX400h Sat Nav disc update requires battery disconnect before use - any idea why?
  5. Finally fitted my 400h rear door gas struts and all seems to be back to normal - Well it was in my garage but after a few hours in the sun the boot opens a fraction and then closes again........ Is there a way of checking the rear door lid motor with dismantling the rear of the RX?
  6. You can see which sellers say if uk source or hong kong or china
  7. My Lexus spares are in the Toyota spares dept. I am sure that if you have the part number they can get it for you. I get instant attention if I can quote a part number. Incidentally I found via the net that the same part number in the USA is considerably cheaper! Just Google a Lexus number and note the lower USA price. An £11+ rear door bracket is $9 in the USA. 🌝
  8. I think the 450 version has better night vision? I hope....
  9. Is it possible to swap the old Rx400 rear view camera for a 450 update?
  10. I have ordered the 4 handed plates with balls and given up trying to saw the cups open. The chances of scoring the sphere whilst sawing grooves in the cup is very likely with my level of hacksawing skills. A pack of 4 plates is £45 and should arrive on Wednesday. It seems 300/400 model tailgate struts are similar items.
  11. If your old struts, like mine have the unremovable plates you will either have to send your old struts along with your new ones back to SGS to get them to replace old for new or get a fine hacksaw and persuade via judicial sawing and bending the old cups to release the plates and snap on the new struts....... Remembering to replace the circlips. Good luck, I am sawing mine this afternoon....... Unlike the video the RX300/400 struts do not have the little sliding release devices to ease the cup off the sphere. Also if DIY- ing remember to grease the cup and silicone seal the plate to stop water getting under the plates.
  12. It gets worse. SGS Engineering tell me I have to saw the old gas strut cap area to release the ball> Be careful not to cut into the ball they said!!! I should have taken it to Guildford Lexus mechanics....... More haste less speed.....
  13. Got my struts today - damn they are not the same as the ones fitted to my RX 400h. Mine are Jap made and do NOT have any way of removing the struts leaving the ball joint exposed. Mine have to be removed via the support metalwork. AS they are Jap struts with no western numerals I assume they were fitted at the factory. Other 400h's I have looked at have the springy removable struts. Must have been a supply thing. Now I have to return unused struts and wait for the replacements.............. yawn..... At least it's warm......
  14. Having now driven [courtesy Lexus Guildford] a shiny new RX 450h and its dazzling running and sensual turn indicator sequencing I am happy that my tried and trusted 2005/6 136000 mile 400h doesn't need add-on running lights that will never match the previous and present 450h examples anyway. I am saving my pennies for a low mileage Pre mere in dark blue metallic. The active headlight dipping function is very impressive. Got over 42 mpg in a 24 hour 4 trip 2 local 2 longish distance drives. Sat nav is so easy to use too.
  15. RE TSR 2 I have a piece of a TSR2 - it's a Mirror UnitTypeMU/10A/436/13 SER.#64304 R.W.Munro Ltd runs on 100 psi About the diameter of a Fly Spray can and about 5 Cms high
  16. Definitely weak gas struts [136000 mile RX] Rear door gets opened a lot on the key. Found replacements from SGS at £94-75 inc tax postage etc. They arrive tomorrow
  17. Door no longer lifts up when key is pressed. motor is working but not delivering the torque required. Anyone had the errant item replaced? Cost? Thanks in advance
  18. Thanks Colin - I might just sell the car before I attempt to replace the bulb.
  19. How do I get the flasher key off to replace the bulb? Thanks in advance.... Btw Guildford Lexus have kindly agreed to let me play with a shiny new RX 450h for 24 hours this Thursday. When I open the glove box I know there will be an order form laying there......
  20. Do I gather there is another model change on the just produced 2015/6 Rx 450h? Including a 7 seater?
  21. I took my trusty 400h and 137000+ miles from the Surrey Hills to Scarborough early [very] on Saturday 9th and apart from the M1 being closed at Dunstable! I arrived in Scarborough in just over 5 hours, Mileage was 334 and consumption [on the computer] was 31.9 mpg. Not bad for an old girl in filthy weather and tyres at 32psi. I would think 37psi would offer less grip IMHO. Rain and potholes on the M1 caused a few bumps to put it mildly - you just don't see the potholes with so little traffic at 4 in the morning. Big Sci-Fi event at the Spa Complex was a hoot! Loved Scarborough and I will never have fish and chips anywhere South of York ever again!
