Cheap Sat Nav Dvd Updates
Beejay replied to DaveMG's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Mine is Gen3 and the link I gave earlier # 10 turned my Sat Nav from stationary only inputs to on the go ones. I had previously bought the £39.00 one but it doesn't upgrade the system - at least my one didn't.... -

Guildford Lexus has a great bunch of Mechs and Steve is the contact who takes care of my 400h. I get a 450h to play with [no charge] while mine is being serviced. Still very happy with my 120,000+ mileage SE-L. They do leave a new 450h order form in the glovebox.......... -

I just removed the old DVD, popped the new one in and by the time I had got back to the front the thing had booted up. As I moved down the drive I could input data because there were no greyed out areas..... unlike with the old DVD..... -

The mileage and the service record. No real difference. Personally the SE-L with all the bells and whistles and a good local Lexus Agent is a plus. If it has an old 12volt battery I would get it replaced sooner rather than later. There are threads on here that suggest an alternative to the Toyota/Lexus OEM as the 400h doesn't like being left for many days if you have the alarm system activated. The later 450h has a bigger 12v battery as a result. -

Bio Ethanol Fuel Additive - Eu
Beejay replied to Beejay's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Apparently, "Toyota and Lexus have put labels on gas caps warning that their engines are not designed to operate with E15, and that they won’t be held responsible for damage caused by higher blend gasoline." Must be US quote. Frankly any Ethanol included in gasoline is a very bad idea. Not going the 'save the planet' and does corrode fuel systems etc. -
When I use the link i get about a thousand Mac software items. Any clue as to the relevant one? Thanks in advance....... :hocus-pokus: The Prius one needs a portable Mac - so it looks like it's manual entry for me............

Does the ridiculous EU directive that insists on Ethanol being added to regular petrol - less power, less mileage, good land used for its production rather than food etc, affect the Lexus engine range like it does smaller garden appliance/light aircraft engines? Ethanol absorbs water and affects hoses and gaskets. Typical Green Garbage hysteria costing us money.

Picked Up New Car

My iPhone 5 is connected via bluetooth. Find 'Telephone' either in INFO or MENU [brain fade]. Set iPhone 5 bluetooth to 'discoverable' and relax.... Follow prompts and the iPhone will connect. What you can't do AFAIK is transfer iPhone numbers to the Rx400h system. Maybe later models work but with my 55Reg 400h it can't see/load the contacts list. I find call reception/transmission via the Lexus roof aerial is superb. Very little dropout in hundreds of calls, unlike the handheld's alternative. -
BMW/Volvo/Porsche/Honda/Toyota/Vauxhall/Ford/Kia/Lexus - you name it. Add 'Annoying' to the google input and you get 1,000,480+ The Yanks actually market non reflective covers for Lexus Rx400h cars [and many others] but they are LHD oriented. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-RX-Models-CARPET-DASH-COVER-MAT-DASHBOARD-PAD-/120986248962?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2b57a702

I was after some home made Watercress soup from a nearby watercress farm - West Lea??. The lady who normally supplies it has changed her address and will be back in production soon. That Itchen spring water is so clear! The soup was very special IMHO. The invitation is reciprocated if you are ever near The Sands/Runfold. lol

Paul, I have seen some extraordinary claims in other posts but the reason why it was above my normal results was a trip to Old Sarum airfield via M3/A303/A30 was mostly done below 50 mph due to incredible traffic numbers. Return journey via Kings/Worthy A31 was on mainly B roads and more 40/50 limits and traffic! Not much cruise control at 80 for me..... and if I had then my figures would have been in the upper 20's. :) BJ

No sun this morning in the Surrey Hills but you can see how much blacker the velvet is. Drove to Old Sarum airfield yesterday via M3/A30 and returned via Kings Worthy/A31 and absolutely no flickering reflections at any time. Smoother, neater, better quality black velvet under construction this morning.........:)

Now that we have some sun....... I find the reflections in bright sunlight on the instrument panel top irritating and have cut a black velvet [good quality] pattern to match the area [from the drivers POV] and bingo the screen is clear of annoying reflections........ little bits of blu-tac hold it in place

Another thing occurred to me was that I have driven through some mighty wet weather over the last 6 months and the under bonnet area was quite wet at times as a result but nothing untoward happened however having chatted to my Lexus man, Steve, who tells me that his Lexus mechs will not clean the engine except a dust off with a high pressure air line I will leave well alone in future....

Good Evening People

"By the way what is members experience of the reaction when you quote gold club membership to the parts or service manager at the dealerships?" Mike Guildford Lexus don't do Gold Club discounts so I was told last month. However they will haggle over total cost. No complaints as I found the cost of the 60,000 mile service including all materials [inc new spark plugs ] and free use of a brand new 450h until service was finished was barely £600. Driving my 120K+ mileage 400h after its 60K service it felt as good [coil suspension better imho] as the brand new 450h. BJ
