  1. Sat in the waiting area at AutoGlass Cardiff and got talking to Mr Hopkins, another customer . . an IS250 owner. He's very happy with the car and had upgraded from a Mercedes E320. He said upgraded! been to France and up to Scotland and said thae ride is phenomenal. He has got MPG around 34, but said that if his son would take it out of sport once in a while, he thinks he could get somewhere near 40mpg. The widnscreen cracked on the way back from Scotland last week and he said that he kept forgeting it had cracked because the quality of the car was so good. He also likes the new IS !?! One more to the list, eh? I really should be getting my paperwork done . . . . .
  2. Wlecom to the site. It's always nice to see owners of the newer cars sign up to the site. The GS is a very nice car.
  3. Sat in the Autoglass depot, waiting for them to take my car in. Friendly crowd so far. 2 hours to do the work? That's a lot of coffee.
  4. Caller ID by retaining customer numbers is a fantastic idea. Once I say who I am, they often remember and ask how my wife is. Natalie always asks about my preparation for our holiday to Scotland. But that simply suggests that the staff, individually are good, but systems could be improved.
  5. Indeed. I have gotten around this by have Natalie's work email. I have encountered the failure to respond to calls, so if they are not available I say that I will email. It shouldn't be like this. I agree. But this was not an issue today. I turned up unannounced and have had a free coffee and tax disc holder.
  6. I think a couple of people have had issues. Wasn't there a guy who bought his IS from Lexus Leicester and dealt through Lexus Cardiff and had *quite a few* issues . . .? I think I've been really lucky.
  7. Also, an invitation to the lanch of the new IS!.!
  8. A big thank you to Claire. I visited the dealership to get a new tax disc holder as my windscreen was bei g replaced. Claire offered me one of the free tax disc holders, saying, 'if I'm having to pay for a new windscreen, she didn't want me to have to pay for a tax disc holder'. I aas offered a coffee and an Alpen bar and as a treat to myself I had a sit in the new LS. Natalie then told me *(unofficially)* that Lexus may be looking to implement a further extended warranty for vehicles up to 10 years old. I'll keep you informed of this . . .
  9. That would be a nice step up from the Lexus! What's the engine size? The 2.0litre does 49.1mpg according to official figures. What's the insurance like?
  10. The newer cars are getting the mix right between nice and economical, but I think you're gonna be looking at cars '08 or newer, and they may just be outta your price range . . Maybe. The Honda Accord is a nice car, but I think after driving the Lexus, you're gonna be dissapointed with whatever you replace it with.
  11. Yeah. There's a nice w reg example on fleabay at the moment and they're asking £2300!
  12. It looks a surprisingly well maintained car. I just can't work out why it's parked up, unless they simply can't afford to tax and MOT it?
  13. Just waiting for the DVLA to send me details of the current registered keeper, but I was able to park alongside the abandoned car today.
  14. I had a 1.0litre Corsa Club and wanted to get something bigger and more economical. We're trying to start a family. So I had three essential things I was looking for in a new car. Had to be an estate! Isofix points Economical ( the corsa was doing 45mpg ) I had my list of cars down to 4 Saab 9-5 linear estate. 2.2TiD Skoda Octavia 1.9d estate Ford Focus 1.6d estate Vauxhall Astra 1.7d estate. I knew I could get 05 plate or newer for under £2500 and some were coming up with mileage under 100k. The ost of servicing a diesel wasn't scaring me and I'd been out for test drives in all of them. 4 months of umming and arring and dithering about which one would be better around town? Then I saw the SportCross on ebay. Didnt even remember Lexus making an estate version of the is200? I arranged to view it, test drive and bought it all within two days. There are times when I regret it. The fuel economy is quite worrying, but every time I get behind the wheel, see the dash, use the heated seats and enjoy the drive, I'm so glad I didn't buy an Astra estate! If you've gotten to the point where you need something more economical, no one is going to blame you. I think there are many of us here who are probably looking at the fuel gauge and mpg dial more than the speedo!?! Check out the is220d. Some are coming up under £5000, but they are all high mileage. What about an lpg converstion?
  15. Hmm . . . I'm sure there are, but it depends upon your definition of nice? VW golf? Skoda Octavia? Though it is a bland car and here are a lot of them.
  16. If the car is driven carefully, then 400 miles on a tank is more than achievable time and time again. I think I could've done 450 miles as I still had 5.76 litres left in the tank . . .
  17. That selection of photos on photobucket is quite worrying. What happened?
  18. 435.5 miles before filling up. 30.9mpg. Only 64.24 litres went in this time.
  19. Hi, Lexus Cardiff claimed they could beat any price of New tyres that I could find, and they did. I was looking at HanKook Ventus Prime 2 K115s on 215/45/R17 W (b rated for fuel efficiency and b rated for wet weather grip) and Lexus Cardiff quoted me £438.20 for 5 tyres, fitted! Part worns are going to be cheaper.
  20. Seconded. I'm having a new screen fitted on Wednesday and my current tax disc holder is rubbish.
  21. Crashed, scrapped or SORN'd I'm guessing. The figures from DVLA only list british registered vehicles, so there ae probably others around the world.
