    I was in the same position not to long ago and was getting very nervous about the 220d after reading about all the problems,However I took the plunge and I'm very happy. Have you looked at a approved lexus?I found them not much more expensive but you get a good warranty & back up. Hope all goes well.

    Had a look today the only switch I can see near the footrest is on a metal bracket behind the clutch which presumably makes or brakes a curcuit when the clutch is engaged. Or are you talking about a different switch?

    Never used the wiper warm but I love the way the rear sun shield glides up & down. I wonder if this switch near the pedals is only on the SEL & nav models? Will check mine tomorrow and if no one works it out I'll try and remember to ask while in the dealers on Friday.

    You sound like a very happy man. Mines the dirty version and moved up a tax band so had to pay slightly more tax compared to my 1 series but I figured it was worth it.The extra toys on the sel aren't essential but don't they make a difference,I also managed to get a ML media package which is excellent. You seem to have got yourself a good deal on your insurance,I've only changed the car over on my original policy so haven't had a renewal yet so will have a good look round.

    Thanks for the welcome,It,s my first as well I had a 1 series before and overall it was a good car and although it's early days for the Lexus a feel as I've gone up a notch or two.

    Thanks for the info,I have already asked if there where any outstanding recalls on the car before I bought it and apparently there were never any recalls on it so obviously none outstanding.However been to the dealer today and I have a combination of noises from the dash fixings,air vent & may be from behind the stereo.Anyhow they are going to sort it out so happy days. Not booked in til march so will update later.

    Hi all just thought I,d say hello. I had the car a few days now and have to say I love it,I must admit i was starting to panic about MPG and engine problems and although its early days all seems well in that department,however I do seem to have a noise from the dashboard on the passenger side that seems to come and go but can be very loud at times and sad to say ruins a great experience. Anyway it's early days yet and the dealer wants to have a listen to it so hopefully they may have a answer. Bye for now.

    I can back up winter tyres as I ran set of 205 55 16 Avon ice touring st on a 120D BMW and can honestly say is transformed the car. However not sure wether to get some 16 inch alloys to replace the 17's to run the same tyres on the Lexus in winter or get some 17inch winter tyres as I think the car looks better on 17's. The other option is All season tyres as not having to swap around would be a bonus but there don't seem to be many options for the rear 245 45 17.
