  1. I wondered that as well, but surely the likes of red from a texaco station would have the additives etc???, only difference I would have thought that its marked red.
  2. Id say red derv would be fine as long as it was from a reputable firm like texaco, maybe just change your fuel filter every service,
  3. The new IS is just plain rude!!!! I'll have a white IS300h please!
  4. Cheers normski, I hope it will get even better once it beds in!!
  5. Hi all, Just wondering has anyone noticed any difference in mpg on their replacement engines? I had mine replaced a few days ago and it's definately far more economical, On two 25 mile motorway runs we got 46mpg there and 51mpg on the way back! that wasn't hanging about either, sat at 70mph the whole time in 5th! Cheers
  6. Hi, My car was checked over by lexus and the HG is gone so they have ordered a new engine. What exactly is replaced? Technician said that it will definitely be less laggy and more economical with the new engine. What about the egr valve etc? if these are kept surely they would be cleaned out, it's bound to be coked up. Anyone has their engine replaced recently? Also does anyone know about the 5th injector recall? Apparently my car has never been seen by lexus until a few months ago, so should I mention this? Cheers all
  7. Hi all, I have my 08 IS220d (61k miles) about 7 weeks and its been going fine, about a week after I got the car (lexus approved car)i checked the oil and coolant and the coolant was slightly over the full mark when cold and i noticed lots of dried in coolant stains around the fan belt area. I left the car into lexus and they said they checked it and that the car was fine and the coolant stains must have been just down to being overfilled. The coolant level has now dropped down to halfway between hot and cold (when the car is cold). The car done around 300 miles yesterday (mainly motorway driving) and i noticed a few fresh small wet drops around the fan area - is this normal? Should I send it back to lexus and tell them somethings not right???? Other than that the car drives fine, no mayo around the oil cap, the coolant is pink and the temperature needle sits dead on half way when warm and doesnt budge.
  8. Hi all, I've just picked myself up an 08 IS220d with 59k on the clock (lexus approved used car) I'm generally pleased with the car, good looking, lovely solid build and a nice place to spend time. My only real gripes are the not great fuel economy for a diesel, but considering its easier fueled than a 1.6 focus isn't bad for what it is and that gearing. I honestly think Toyotas engineering were too busy playing Mario kart and eating sushi when they should have been thinking out the gear ratios!! I nearly bought an Auris SR from a small dealer but walked away when the car was low on coolant and was only serviced a few months ago! I'm well aware of the problems with these engines and didnt worry too much about checking the car over as its an approved used lexus. I checked my oil and coolant about 2 weeks after picking it up and the oil was way over the full mark, the coolant was slightly over max (car was warm) but I noticed spots of dried coolant that looked like they had been there a while that seemed to be coming from the overflow pipe. I left the car into lexus, they updated the software, drained the oil and said they checked the car and it was fine, the coolant from the overflow must have been due to overfilling. The car seems to have lost a slight bit of coolant, which I'm keeping an eye on and the oil is fine. I also noticed when driving to work a few weeks ago when the car was fairly cold, a bit of white smoke from the exhaust..but that could have been due to overfilling the oil..what do you all reckon? Should I bring it back again? Cheers!!!!
